And I suppose there hasn't been any decent music written since you were 21, that sort of attitude makes me avoid people your ages, how arrogant, by the way, I'm 67 and the best music hasn't been written yet, thinking anything other than that just demeans younger generations. I love Helen Shapiro, I love lots of old music, but it isn't the be all and end all.

Beatles and Stones are from the same years and are treated fair enough. I guess she just got married, had kids and that was the end of her career.

@@mikethespike7579 Not quite. I saw her about 3 years ago and she can sing just as well as she could when she recorded this beautiful song.

She deserved a much longer chart career. Wonderful voice , superior to many other sixties female singers who went on to greater success.

Thay voice coming from a 14 year old, her first No1. She would make a laugh of today's singers & their auto tune machines.

And Helen Shapiro is just so sexy

Just incredible, I heard it for the first time three days ago and instantly loved it, there's something to be said for the old recording equipment, this modern stuff just doesn't cut it.

The modern playback equipment is great though. Incredible to be able to hear how good these old tunes were.

Never remembered this until I heard it on a rerun of Call the Midwife. Waiting for this young singer to come on Sunday TV. I was about 9 years old but fell in love instantly. Remember when songs went straight to number one and the next week they were gone. This song captures those times perfectly.

Hi Helen, I was 15 in 1960 when I first listened to your golden voice and beautiful songs, such as "you don't know, don't treat me like a child" in fact all of them. You are amazing. I have all your CD's. Great Woman and Great Singer

I was around when it released in 1961. Became a #1 in the UK and those Commonwealth countries, which at the time were still of predominantly very 'British' origins, in their character, governance, trade and distribution. Played endlessly at its peak on the radio of the day, which was a good thing. Helen had a gifted voice, and this song presents it so pleasingly well. I still love it too. Timeless.
