I was a teenage Disk Jockey at a local Teen Club in New Brunswick Canada when I first heard Helen in 1963. She became a life long favourite. Her hits are still available on CD and are worth every penny. BTW I am 75 now and she still touches me.

Even now in 2021 it would be difficult in a modern state of the art studio with electronic mixing, autotune etc to replicate this. What a stunning ,luxurious smooth fabulous voice, there really is a lot of talent out there today, but I can,t honestly think of anyone that comes close to Helen Shapiro,s perfect voice! Timeless!
I was younger than Helen, but she inspired me to be a singer, I won a talent contest with one of her songs, and went on to be professional for 20 years.Never made the big time, but toured the world with big stars of the day.Happy memories!

@@Qsv7RQ3ovB Thank you, you have to chase your dreams, I came from a large family, money was very tight, but that just urged me on.I joined a group and after winning opportunity knocks twice, we turned professional and had a recording contract.Our first single was recorded at Abbey Road, and we were told the Beatles were recording in another studio ,I hoped for a glimpse, but no such luck!We spent the next six summers first class entertaining on cruise ships, we spent three months touring South Africa with Max Bygraves, and in between worked with all the top stars of the day, really more than than I had dreamed of.We never made it to the top but I had a great time not getting there.One of our singles is on utube, The Freelanders, Turn of the Century.💙💚💙

I thank my parents for raising me on music like this... when my friends were listening to Duran Duran in the 80’s I was listening to great 60’s songs and envied those who had lived in the greatest era of music.

Never remembered this until I heard it on a rerun of Call the Midwife. Waiting for this young singer to come on Sunday TV. I was about 9 years old but fell in love instantly. Remember when songs went straight to number one and the next week they were gone. This song captures those times perfectly.

Helen did come to the US! She was on the Dick James Show early in her career. Surprised 'You Don't Know' that.
Actually Helen appeared on The Ed Sullivan show and I believe she recorded an album in Nashville Tennessee.
