The comment Jimi makes about wanting to record stuff that’ll be playable in 20/30 years time was spot on. Lost Souls turned 20 this year and it’s one of my favourite albums that still gets played on a regular basis. I’m sure I’ll still be saying this in another 20 years time. A band like no other.
@@blueshorecreative3146 Yeah Firesuite is mesmerising. It was a brave move leaving Sub Sub behind to go in a new direction with Doves, but that debut album proved it was the right thing to do
I remember this like it was yesterday. On Wednesday and Thursday, the weather was BEAUTIFUL, but when I woke up on Friday morning (with sunburn) it felt like the apocalypse (apparently, a month’s worth of rain fell on Glastonbury in just a few hours). I was so MISERABLE on Friday. I spent most of it in a queue to buy emergency wellies - with a raging hangover / come down. Truth be told, a mate and I were *this* close to sacking it off and heading home early. We agreed to watch Doves and see how we felt afterwards. Suffice to say… after this set, we decided to stay. Double dropping during M83 a few hours prior might have perked us up a bit but Doves absolutely smashed it! Needless to say, I had the last laugh.
They are amazing! I live in Dallas Texas USA, a huge Keane, Travis, Embrace, Noel Gallagher, OASIS and Snow Patrol fan and many more British bands. As for me an American, I would love to see them live here in my city. So cool! I bought all their cds after i heard the song, "Cedar Room" on a the British radio station on the internet. This band, "DOVES" belongs to that elite group too, in my opinion ☺ Peace & Love know of hear this great band.
@DanielJacksonMusic Yes, I listen to the Doves, too. The song, Cedar Room, introduced me to the Doves. I have all their music. Very underrated band. They are awesome, too. I'm going to see Keane live in 4 more days! Can't wait!
Oh God I was there that year with my Dad back in 2005 that weekend changed my life. Haven't seen any of this set since then, brings back some good memories. I remember me and my Dad standing near the mix tower in matching union Jack jumpers because we were freezing the weather was so bad 😂
I never ever watch full concerts on UA-cam. I watched this one over and over. The most underrated Brit band. A hidden gem. Once you discover them, there’s no going back❤❤❤
Saw Doves in 2009 at Brixton Academy. Great band. Wishing Jimmy all the best. Would love to see them in a festival setting as missed their John Peel set that same year.
You really must. Saw them support Oasis and Coldplay and left each time blown away by how good they are. Know who I’d rather see now given the opportunity
“Walk In Fire” is such a standout song on their 3rd album. I don’t know why they never play it live. I think it might be a very personal song. Doves are one of the best bands ever, in my opinion.

2022. Still love them, especially Pounding 🥰 My arms ache just watching the amazing drumming 😉 Oh Black and White Town ❤ Doves have grown on me more and more in over 20 years.
I'll never forget watching this (on TV!). I saw them in Belfast same year. What a group - what a moment for them. When Glasto was still grubby and caring and together. They really lifted the place with this whole set, and last song. In the last 30 years Doves have been eclipsed, in terms of success, by quite a few other big Manchester bands. But emotionally and musically they will always be the greatest. Love to Jimi, hope you're good, Brother.
Everything they do is gold. Looking forward to the 6th album. I’ve been a fan since Lost Souls came out. Seen them 5 times. Their Best Of has some great alternate versions and rare tunes like “Andalusia”. Lost Sides with the 2nd disc is awesome as well. Doves are one of THE best EVER.
I was in London in 2005. Had I known they were performing at Glastonbury, I would have done everything in my might to see them!!❤ Now, more than ever, I wish for a time machine. Love these guys so much!!!

I didn't know he plays bass with the strings upside down. I mean, the whole bass' upside down, but he doesn't swap the strings around. I bet that makes him approach his writing differently

Doves are a very underrated band
It's 2024 and I still come back to Doves, so I believe they achieved what they were hunting at least for a lucky few who found them
Had forgotten about them, great band!
If you don't get this band.. then there is a hole in your soul...
I pity the fool
