And they succedded. In Children of Earth all the world's governments & militaries (even U.N.I.T - thank heavens Martha Jones was on vacation out in the boonies & the Brigadier was probably rolling over in his grave) in a terrible bargain. In Miracle Day just about the whole of humanity was made by necessity to be complicit in terrible acts.
Miracle Day may have had pacing issues, the Americanization of the show may have made it feel a bit more generic, but Bill Pullman as Oswald Danes is probably one of the best performances in the Whoniverse and he's easily one of Torchwood's most compelling villains.
Deathlygunn but they didn’t even Americanize it. It was still our Torchwood, with its Welsh routes and the core cast. It just happened to be an adventure in America.
@@obiwankenobi687 Nah man you could clearly tell that it was produced in a much more american way. The camera shooting, the editing and there are some standard action scene shit like Gwen blowing something up and doing a dramatical drift with her motorbike with a silly, overdramatic, music blasting shot of her at the end. Thats a huge contrast to the old style. Also Jack got much less focus in the story and since three actors of the old cast have been gone by then and two new american actors, it`s hardly the core cast.
Causti Gwen, Jack, Rhys, Andy, Gwens Parents, Gwens Welsh routes, it was very much the core elements of the show. It just happened they were in America. And the composer was the same, so the music wasn’t silly or over dramatic it was the same it’s always been. It also had a bigger budget which allowed for bigger stunts. I didn’t realise America had the monopoly on explosions It was also the exact same writer, the writer who took the piss out of America nearly every episode and made sure to keep the welsh routes there and the British connections.
Him and Gwen were the characters’ screen time I enjoyed most. Oswald’s character was sickening and so well done, snd Gwen’s lines were so funny at times.
I really hope they bring him back for the next season! Even if it's just as a head with some kinda helper bot or a new artificial body, but please I wanna know what him and the new regeneration of the Doctor would be like. Always loved his banter with the rest he's met.
People question Oswald's purpose in the narrative but to me he's anti-humanity. An awful horrific man BUT with complete self awareness as to his terrible nature. Something humanity during Miracle Day lacks massively.
@@ljllob4740 I wouldn't really say the Doctor MAKES people carry guns - Sarah Jane definitely never did, or the Ponds, and neither did quite a few of their companions - but I would say the Doctor inspires people to fight for the changes they want to see in the world. For people like Jack, who was a time agent, and people like Martha and Rose, who joined organisations dedicated to doing what he does, that did come with the side effect of carrying a gun.
The thing is... I missed every episode after the one where the Class 1 were incinerated. So the last thing I knew of him was his grief over the murder and his attempts at redemption through just wanting to talk with the... ehem... Lady of the Night. I though he saught redemption but simply lost his sanity more and more through the attention he acquired. But now... he made me sick, and few things can manage that.
Great scene but Jack has kill a kid, he killed his own grandson at then end of children of Earth and jack doesn't mention it at all. Don't know if that's a good or a bad thing 🤔😅
Jack saying “Sod it!” An incredibly British line in his American accent is hilarious.
It's quite apparent that they were struggling to top the darkness after Children of Earth but Bill Pullman's performance as absolutely fantastic

Honestly the actor did such a good job
One of my favourite actors of all time

I never saw Oswald's role as important or necessary, but I do love watching the actor perform the role.

@deathlygunn - very true
"I'm getting the word, Nonce!"
Good ol Phoenix Nights
@@xallog2891 we must be pisskicks.
"It was like I was painting on her!" Gods, what a loathsome man.
too detailed fr
This makes me feel genuine hate for a fictional character
Miracle day was so incredible.
Loved every Second of it.
This is a scene where no music couldve been better
Okay but the soundtrack for Miracle Day is amazing.
Miracle day was such a trainwreck but it had some redeeming bits. Bill Pullman made me feel genuine hatred for Oswald Danes from this scene
Oswald Danes was my favourite part of Miricle Day
Him and Gwen were the characters’ screen time I enjoyed most. Oswald’s character was sickening and so well done, snd Gwen’s lines were so funny at times.
Good scene but you can see where the orange cap used to sit on the end of the barrel

I never realized that there was a reference to Children of Earth in Miracle Day...
What refrence?
They talk about ianto at one point too
Domihork there are many references in md, like when they said torchwood was shut down due to 456 regulations and stuff like that
Bill Pullman what a fantastic actor and I LOVE THE SOD IT LINE. SO BRITISH
I love the gun that Jack uses for most of Miracle Day
I don't know why but I prefer the one he used over series 1-3 much more WW2 and in keeping with his character.
@@sophiehayer9825 Yeah I liked that aswell but I think it was destroyed in the Hub explosion
Sophie Hayer it was his webley, for some reason I didn’t know he used a different gun, now I’m sad :(
Think it's some model of Glock, considering the blocky frame
@@archerymidnight3422 It's either a Ruger or Taurus with the threaded barrel. The front sight blade is wrong for Glock.
Personally I preferred it when Jack was armed with the the webley revolver its more keeping with his attire.
Well that was probably destroyed in Children of Earth and I’m guessing more modern guns were easier for him to acquire
Julius Stricto fair enough but still I preferred his old gun.
People question Oswald's purpose in the narrative but to me he's anti-humanity. An awful horrific man BUT with complete self awareness as to his terrible nature. Something humanity during Miracle Day lacks massively.
I wonder how the doctor would react to this man.
Punch him probably
Probably similar to Jack's idea, but be smart enough to pull it off.
Sean Da Best he would be angry but the doctor knows deep down he makes his companions carry the guns so the doctor don't have to

Sean Da Best Sarah Jane carried a musket in pyramid of mars
If jack had shot him then they would've been screwed in the end
What A Scene!
O_o didn't know Bill Pullman was in Torchwood at one point... damn lol
I don’t want to watch miricle day without tosh Owen and my fave ianto 😭😭 like theres a new team now or somethin 😭😭😭🥺😭🥺🥺
Ok why was this guy even included?
to creep people out
I... Uh... I thought this was a different Oswald.
maybe this is Clara's nonce of a dad

This feels more like CSI than a doctor who spin-off
well what do you expect jack to do with his time, build a tardis, grab Rose Tyler and clobber an ood?
Yet he was still more likable than Rex.
It seems Oswald is.....controversial.....
2022 I miss my Ianto
Great scene but Jack has kill a kid, he killed his own grandson at then end of children of Earth and jack doesn't mention it at all. Don't know if that's a good or a bad thing 🤔😅
He doesn't mention it probably because he was traumatised by it. He didn't do it bc he wanted to kill a kid, he did it to save the world x
Love this series so much
What happened to jacks webley??
Destroyed in the hub explosion
John Barrowman Vs Bill Pullman
This music absolutely ruined the scene
IN ANOTHER DELETED SCENE FROM TORCHWOOD MIRACLE DAY CANCER IS A HUGE PROBLEM
I hated him more than joffrey in game of thrones
Oswald Oswin Oswald Starship Alaska
The impossible girl
Oswalds character felt so....I don't know....useless in this show. Like what exactly did he bring? Such a waste of a great actor too
It was weird huh. I did like him in it but theres a point where jack is constantly watching him but for no particular reason so it confused matters
🤮
Love torchwood to death but miracle day sucked
What a terrible season
