    These interviews is another reason I respect David a lot and keep coming back to his channel. He's a great host and an interviewer.
    Videos about how "dripping wet, neon orange confused Trump" wrote or said something insane may bring more views (and are certainly needed for the channel) but I absolutely love these small bits on producivity, attention, education, debating etc. Such videos will be rewatchable 5, 10 years from now.

    As someone who has always said that the American workforce should not be standardized in that, everyone in every industry is being held to the same standards.
    Neuroscience had debunked the myth of "multi-tasking". It's stop..Start. Stop. Start, and in the big picture, affects quality, and creates burnout.
    Thank you for this interview, Sir!

    The biggest problem is how big many companies are. Executive leadership makes demands that local leadership treats everyone under their leadership like mindless cogs in a machine, rather than creating an environment in which employees can feel fulfilled and placing employees in positions where they feel that doing their jobs is productive.
    When someone who games the system has a leg up on someone who works with integrity… your system is fucked.

    What are really incompatible are knowledge work and wage/salary structures - if you're not going to produce something that works dependably, why should you be compensated for the x hours you put in a week? Get paid for deliverables, or take a hike! Huge reason for recent tech layoffs is the recent CS grads who can't do JS - and I don't mean javascript.

      Took me a minute to figure out JS stands for jack sh!t.

    Newport’s book Deep Work is profoundly helpful. Slow Productivity is certainly the natural philosophical extension of Deep Work and So Good They Can’t Ignore You.
    If you’re working on yourself and your career, definitely check out Newport’s books!

    I think extreme multi-tasking is toxic. This is an IT problem.

      Humans literally can't actually multitask. They have done many studies that switching tasks is extremely detrimental.

    Why should we multitask?

  • @williamnewell7784
    @williamnewell7784 7 місяців тому

    We try to quantify IT. This is problematic in that thing like IQ and experience cannot fit the mold.

    We need to quit that and let people code and create solutions without restraints. Restraints penalize and inhibit creativity.

    David is an establishment democrat dressed up like a progressive in drag, it’s just shocking to me how no one here sees it. This channel may as well be a sister production to msnbc, nigh indistinguishable

    What a BORE. (Nerd voice) “In the morning, I like work from the time to the time and then I like to do this, from this time to that time, and in the evenings I might do this from this time to that time, but most of the time, I’m thinking about time.” KILL ME.
