If Steven didn't fake his catatonic state, he would've gone to the centre and come back after his behaviour changes. He is the reason she can't deal with him anymore.
there is no way u can fake being catatonic, unless the hospital they used is literally the worst ever, also this kid was obsessed and she was hand bathing him...ur telling me he didnt get even a bit aroused
There is a mental catatonic which is different from physical. It usually happens because of extreme trauma. Like accidentally killing your father. Nothing physically wrong with the brain but still refuses to function. He could have normal brain waves but still not be able to respond. It is something that does happen so it's not unheard of.
The real horror is trying to adopt when you’ve murdered your own son “So why do you want to adopt this boy?” “Well I murdered my actual son because he was being creepy so I’d like another one please” “Sure thing”
I feel like it would have made more sense if Stephen was, in fact, originally catatonic, but recovered. When he realized he could essentially have his step-mother's attention all to himself because of his condition, he continued to act like he was still catatonic. For me, that would have made more sense.
Most criticism here is valid. However, Mary did attempt to lock Steven in the basement and it was clear that the last thing she wanted to do was kill him, as she had knocked him unconscious or tried to escape three to four times before eventually killing him (as he was drowning a child...). Remember, she initially knocked Steven out and locked the basement door only to have him use an axe to break out. That's the one thing that I feel like was misrepresented or overlooked in this review.
thats what pissed me of about this movie. As someone who was partially paralyzed before and had a relative in a coma I can tell you doctors have procedures for determining things like that and some of the tests cant really be faked. There's something called the Glasgow Coma Scale which is used on most people who are catatonic or in a coma to determine the severity of it and they do things like tickle your feet, shine lights in your eyes to check dilation, and stuff like that and often you'll be attached to an EKG during the tests. For paralysis they also tickle your feet but also use hot and cold things and pinpricks to try and elicit a response, and they may even do some nerve conductivity testing which cant be faked since they run electricity through parts of your body and measure the responses, trying to fake that is like trying to pretend your not being tazed.
You forget the part where the admitted to killing his dad on purpose the day of the car accident. This guy was already homicidal, and the mom had already lost her son.
Nothing to do with the actual plot of the movie, but I have so much respect for people who take care of people or loved ones who cannot do it for themselves (the non-abusive caretakers, of course). It's a full-time responsibility and takes a special type of patience and selflessness. Kudos!
So basically instead of helping her own son she gives up on him and finds a new child to love? is she supposed to be the good one? I know the sons insane, but she just was about to abandon him for another child.
Her intention wasn't to abandon her son for another child. Before she ever met the little boy she was talking about putting him somewhere he was better cared for. As someone who took care of a catatonic loved one. Its very easy to underestimate how hard and draining it is on a person. She didn't ask the little boy to bust out her window and came to her house. This wasn't a grand master plan. She asked them to let her help him. She didn't ask them to give her custody of the boy. I think her decisions are all guilt driven. She tried to send her son in for mental help. In turn her husband was killed and her son paralyzed so she drops everything and her world revolves around him. Then her son starts killing people and actively tries numerous times to kill the child. So once he was dead I think is when she decided to adopt the boy. 1 reason being its her fault that this child was traumatized beyond belief because of her son and 2 she saw a lot of the same problems as her son and knowing she failed to help him motivated her to try and help this boy. Its not as simple as This puppy is to big I want a smaller one. I don't understand how people have came to this conclusion at all.
It's like people who get rid of dogs when they stop being puppies. She just wanted Tom because he was little and cute. When he's older, she'll get rid of him for another cute new puppy.
She failed to help her step son so she disowns him to try again with another kid? Surely the characters drive to help and succeed is as much to blame for the killings? She fails to help her step son psychologically so she forgets about her mistake in order to try again, with no inkling to the fact she's raised a monster before?
Nope. It would be another story if it were her actual son but alas. His issue was he was so selfish and didn't want to leave her. His actions caused the death of his father, and innocent man and almost a child because he didn't want to be away from her. He cooked up an entire scheme to trick her into make HIM her entire world. SHE could not help him is the point of the movie. Her making the decision that she couldn't help him was probably the kindest thing she could have done. You can't personally help someone whose problem revolves around them being obsessed with you. The number of factors in her decision are quite plainly laid out as well, as she had dreams of harming him and she didn't want to. What caused those dreams? The psycho drugging her and the fact that her entire life had boiled down to taking care of a child that was not her own. How do people miss this?
What the hell were we watching the same video? She tried to get him help at the beginning in turn he killed his father then pretended to be catatonic. What was she supposed to do at that point? Put someone who doesn't move or talk in therapy? I don't see where you are getting at here? I know to a lot of people this parent vs step parent has no difference. Usually I am the same way but since this is fictional I will use it. She was this boys step mom. He became obsessed with her. They tried to get help he wound up catatonic. Instead of putting him in a home like most people do loved ones so they get around the care treatment she brought him home worked from home so she could always be with him. She did her best but felt she was at a place where she couldn't help him anymore. So again she tried to put him in an institution and he went bat shit crazy psycho. The fact that she took care of him and didn't pawn him off on his fathers family or even a hospital shows that she felt guilty to some degree but that she couldn't help him anymore. This little boy desperately needed someone's help so she thought if she could help him then maybe she could help her son like theoretical of course. However she didn't know he was faking and she had to make a decision help her son and let this child die or save the child.
Let's point out the face that she thought he was catatonic pretty much the entire movie. It's hard for one person to take care of someone in that state she she thought the best thing was to send him to a place where he can get the best treatment for his problem. That was the point of the first part. To get him the help he needed she was not trying to abandon him and after he got better he would have definitely been welcomed back into the home with his father and step mother and maybe even a few step siblings. She love him enough to want to help him and sometimes having to put someone before yourself includes sending them away so they can get proper help. So she did all the right things he was just too obsessive.
....wouldn't the doctors be able to tell by his brain activity that he wasn't catatonic? Like seriously, this is not a very well thought out plot and the climax is way too reminiscent of The Shining like he said. Love your stuff!
It's really common for doctors to assume that pain is "all in your head" even when you're literally screaming, without bothering to do any tests to see whether it is or not. Why is it so unbelievable a doctor could just assume someone was catatonic based on their behaviour? There are a lot of crap doctors out there.
People keep saying "she abandoned her own son" HE WAS HER STEP SON She really was trying but he was creepy from the start, who knows what kind of bad things he used to do to her even BEFORE he started to drug her. She tried to get him help and he refused so she tried to send him away. She probably didn't even want to deal with him in the first place but was to kind to do anything. She even looked after him for SIX months instead of just putting him in a facility. You all say she could've done this or that but it's easier said than done and who knows when she met him, he was probably too far gone by then and was using her as an outlet. She's not a bad mother, she isn't Ben his mother and put up with him for so long.
0:28, same age as or maybe even younger than the new kid, there's definitely something wrong with her as well, with the "let's try again" attitude at the end. I doubt they'd let her adopt another child after what happened
I don't like this whole narrative that parents don't owe their children anything. She CHOSE to become involved in his life, so it doesn't matter if she is "just his stepmother". The child doesn't get a choice, the parent does. Also, I don't like that a lot of people are saying things like "he's a psycho" or "he's too far gone" or "she had already lost him". It is NEVER too late to get help. Don't you DARE ever tell someone that they're beyond help or not worth it!
@@Ronni2602 yup, give chemotherapy to a person with brain cancer, lung cancer, just cancer riddled all over their body. No, that’s not what you do, you treat them nicely, and let them live a good final months. BESIDES, trying to KILL AN INNOCENT KID, kidnapping a kid, killing your parent, assaulting your “parent”, then sexually assaulting your “parent”, isn’t redeemable. That’s literally attempted murder, assault, and sexual assault, and murder. Let’s not forget him faking being catatonic is FRAUD because he could get checks from the government. When SHE DECIDED TO BE HIS MOTHER, SHE DIDNT SIGN UP TO A FUCKING PSYCHOPATH. That’s not apart of the deal, it’s like signing up for government benefits and then being told you have to pay the government $300 a month if you want the benefits, when you only get enough to survive.
I'm so tired of parents being applauded for the bare minimum. And the people liking this comment. You don't get brownie points for the bare minimum as a parent. Taking care of your child? That's what you're supposed to do. Not putting your child in a facility after their existence becomes inconvenient? That's what you're supposed to do. Some people have zero paternal instincts, and should never have children. I don't think she did much wrong after finding out that he is violent, and dangerous. So I won't judge her there, but long before then, she was a horrible mother. The only worse parent here is the dad. He had to have been raising his son to be this way.
This movie isn't about fighting robots or even ghosts. It's reasonable to ask why this psychiatrist was able to adopt this child or at least get some sort of guardianship. She's crossing the line for psychiatrist and patient. Also she should be investigated for the murder of her step-son and under review by some psychiatry governing body. Also dude, it's just movie don't take my opinions so seriously.
I think if they could do the concept correctly it would be cool like say he dies one day in the hospital she is distraut so she dedicates her life to trying to help troubled kids 5 years later (we'll change the age of the kid) a little orphaned boy is her new patient because he's been getting into a lot of trouble at the orphanage and the caretaker wanted to get him help. She spends time helping the boy who reminds her a lot like Steven, they make air of progress together and she starts caring for the boy lile she cared for Steven. Then one day during a session he reveals that he wants her to be his mom again. This would have turned into an entirely different movie that would suggest after dying you can be reborn with a lot of feels in the movie...
She was kind of a sorry excuse for a mother. You never give up on your child, even if they are a little bonkers. What you do is get them the help they need.
TheEverWilde A little bonkers my ass he was beyond help. He was an evil lying Mainpulating young man who killed people and was gonna kill a little boy.
it's a hard situation. she never would've been attracted to him in the way he was to her, because HE WAS HER SON, so even if tom was killed she would've been miserable. he's definitely stronger than her and wouldn't have let her leave by herself ever. she would've been kept prisoner. honestly, it was the best option
when you said tiny door I thought of the Lego Indiana Jones games, because there was this character who could go through tiny doors, but I forgot his name.

Skyler Maves it's easy. The Babadook isn't really a monster. It's a metaphor for depression. The monster is depression. And at the end, when the monster is tied up and she feeds it, it means she has it managed.
I feel like that whole ending was a little too heavily influenced by The Shining... the doctor coming to save them only to die shortly after he arrives, the son chasing the others around with the hammer, backtracking the footsteps in the snow...
The McRib I also think that there was a bit too much of Psycho in there too. The son has a weird attraction to his mother it isn't revealed until the end. It's supposed to make the audience uncomfortable but feel bad for him. Eh, I just hated this movie.
Wow this movie is terrible. But the idea of someone pretending to be in a catatonic state could work... if it was set in like the 40's or before. It made no sense that the doctors didn't know he was pretending.
Sooooo much wrong! First of all why is he needing major tranquilizers? He's supposedly in some catatonic state - why would he need tranquilizing? And if she's giving them to him (in the morning????) how does she not notice them missing? How can she not figure out she's been drugged? How can Steven possibly fake being in a catatonic state for SIX MONTHS - did anyone try tickle him? Also a parasomnia is a type of sleep disorder, not one itself as the good doctor says. Why, when you render a potential killer unconscious MORE THAN ONCE would you not tie him up rather than run away and wait for him to wake up? Why did he tie Tom to a pole instead of just killing him right away as he said he was. Why didn't he just kill Tom right away and avoid the hassle of having to drug Mary every night so she wouldn't hear Tom in the walls? Why didn't Mary's potential boyfriend's son alert police when his father never returned? How is Tom happily drawing pictures and giggling in the end when any kid who went through all that would be severely traumatized? I could go on ... This was just a lazy script, utterly predictable twist, with stupid dream trapdoors and tired old jump scares. Boo.
Tony Kudu Because movies don't make sense unless they are historical/historically accurate movies. I say historical/historically accurate because there are movies that are about the history and there are some that recreate the history.
Wait a minute..... I thought you said that when she found out he could move and wasn't catatonic is when he went all boy interrupted? Well he was already boy interrupted but went bat shit crazy. I thought he hit her tied her up and gave her a bath. When the hell was she supposed to get him help? She didn't just find out kill him and adopt this other boy. She found out got attacked then drugged. Then she went to save the innocent child who was being abused up until she found out he could walk. When she got to the basement he was going to kill the boy so she hit him and ran to escape. He figured her out and came back for round 2 of killing the innocent child. Again she runs away trying to get away. Then they are at the river and he is on round 3 actively drowning the poor boy. When should she have called and got him help? She had no idea he wasn't still catatonic. She thought she herself was going crazy. Why the hell did the guy who watched it happen try and get to the house instead of calling 911 immediately? I like your videos and all but I don't think you thought that one through. Now I am going to have to buy this movie and watch it through. To see if I come to your conclusion on the happy ending. From your break down I don't see that she had any other choice.

Here is the connection (hehehe) Naomi Watts was in the book of Henry with Jaeden Lieberher and Jacob Tremblay (Tom) Jaeden was in It with Finn Wolfhard Finn Wolfhard was in Stranger Things Charlie Heaton was in Stranger Things
I do understand why she decided to kill Steven mainly because he was responsible for the death of her husband and I'm not surprised that she wanted to get rid of him because if it wasn't for Steven being such a horrible child you know her husband would be alive. I think that was why she was so keen on sending him away, that's one big reason why I can see why she had given up I mean this child was so selfish that he basically went ahead and misbehaved so much that it ended up getting her husband killed. I think at that point not only can she not trust this child he's a danger to himself and anyone else around him and clearly she was grieving the lost of her husband. The main issue she had with Steven was that you can't trust someone who's so careless and so self-absorbed that someone ended up losing their life because of their callousness thus Steven needed to die he was willing to kill a small child who had nothing to do with Steven at all. Mainly because of his obsession with his stepmother and keeping her to himself.
JoElyssa Hall so, she's killing Steven because of his dangerous oedipus complex that nearly got that deaf kid to be drown to death and his dad to be kill because of his unrivaled love for his mom. SOMEONE GET STEVEN SOME MILK
You also have to see Steven had to die because not only did he basically kill his own father, he also killed the Phycologist who was trying to warn his mother that Steven was pretending he was comatose. In a nut shell that crazy horrible and devious boy had to die he was a murdering, despicable, and dangerous waste of life not by his making or lack of love, but by his own choosing such a tragedy his mom realized this thus he had to go this cycle of death, obsession, and craziness had to end permanently.
Steven was crazy, that is true, but that woman utterly failed as a mother. She made zero effort to reason with him, or calm him down. Was simply restraining him and calling the police not an option for her? I mean the dudes been doing nothing but pretending to be paralyzed for years, it's not like he exercises, how physically strong could he possibly be? Steven may have been past the point of saving, but she could at least TRY to save him.
He had ample time to tell Mary that he was actually ok but he wanted to manipulate her into taking care of him none stop. Mainly to isolate her to drug her make her think she was crazy and for all we know he could have molested or sexually asaulted her for all we know while he drugged her which is the most vile but possible thing he could have done as well. Also don't forget she was a child psychologist and he fooled her and the doctors into believing he was comatose. Also she didn't fail as a parent this kid was old enough to drive thus an adult basically. Steven has to atone for his own actions, she never told him or manipulated him or anything else to become the monster he was he chose to do these sadistic, maniacal, and heinous things himself no one forced him. Steven chose not to change or become a better person he was obsessed with her by his own choosing which is even worse. Murdering his biological father, his step mothers phychologist, and would have murdered a third if he had killed that child. Steven was the embodiment of when are parents no longer to blame for a child's horrific behavior never forget we all have free will.
Basically an adult? So it's alright to give up on your own child? I keep hearing the word step-child thrown around a lot but from what little facts I can gather from this movie, she had cared for him since he was a small child. That makes him hers! Her responsibility. That sort of love shouldn't just fade out of existence! He didn't need to be killed. He needed help! He needed to be reassured that even though she was trying to protect the smaller child, that she wasn't going to replace her son. What she should have done was get him help. A psychologist.
Mr.Bushido Trigger happy cops shoot anyone; even victims asking for help. (at least thats the movie standard. if cops arrive; the main protagonist is killed by them)
@@Nike-nm8jc I mean... considering a large amount of cops irl, it's a gamble. They need better training for tense moments, I think, in real life and *definitely* the characters in the movies.
LOL I watched the trailer for Shut In before I watched this video and I already knew what the twist ending was for this movie. It was so fucking predictable and I didn't even have to watch the movie or this video....Signs of a bad movie!
More like a bad trailer. That being said not too far into the movie I did kind of predict the ending. But I do like when movies surprise me, like The Boy. It seemed like your average creepy doll flick but I was pleasently surprised by the twist.
Kevin Jackson yeah, they have to draw in viewers in the trailers This is why movies like Jigsaw are so GOOD The trailer contains a few small spoilers but other than that, nothing!
She wasn't even intending on replacing him she was thinking about adopting the boy earlier on because she wanted to help him. Steven had no influence on that. Even if he wasn't completely insane, she would have still taken him in because she wanted to help him.
Well first of all, he’s not her son. He has the same amount of blood relation to her as the little kid does, ie none. Also why do you say deaf boy like it’s a bad thing??
The step son got the father killed with his tantrum and saw it as an opportunity to be closer to the mother, was drugging and sexually abusing the mother who he has an obsession over, killed her friend and was in the process of killing a kid.
juice That was after though, well, everything except for the dad, but she probably didn't know that either. She did FULLY plan on substituting Steven for the new kid, completed by planning sending Steven away to be cared for by other people because she didn't care enough about him to take care of him for more than 6 months. He was absolutely right in her intentions. Of course, his reactions were murderous and creepy, but before that she had no reason to give up on him
The writer obviously had no experience or just hoped the viewer is stupid. No way would a grown up, especially a doctor, not notice getting drugged regularly.
Magnus Kallas well benzos aren’t even actually tranquilizers like the movie plays them out to be, it’s a depressant used to treat anxiety etc. but yeah she definitely should have noticed being drugged.
why would the writers make it so that the son fooled everyone that he was actually catatonic??? like medical staff have tests for that shit and why pretend at all? youre going to tell me throughout the incident, they werent going to try physical therapy, checking of nerves, surgery.....literally anything, they just instantly go "WELP HE HASNT TALKED FOR A WEEK HES CATATONIC BYE" It seemed like there was no point for his character to want to pretend at all anyway???? And all of a sudden he becomes a clingy psychotic murderer when his step mom gets a new kid in the house? It just seems set up really terribly.
depending on the depth of a lake or how dense it is it would be ice cold but have not frost in it or be frozen solid. like if the lake has salt it would not freeze very well
There's a guy with his own channel called movie reviews he does that really tells you everything and anything about the movie in just a couple minutes it's like you don't even have to actually watch it cuz he simply explains every detail!! Movie recap
I get really upset when troubled kids or little kids get really upset like when a kid doesn't get something and is completely wrecked by it and the parents can't calm them down. I just feel so sorry for them
I think she did try her hardest, but she realized that she couldn't help Steven anymore which is why she had him sent away. When she later found out that he was the one behind eveything, she didn't have a choice but to kill him. It was either he killed her for leaving, or kill Tom because he was a threat to him. To me she did the only SANE thing left to do: Kiill him on the grounds of self defense...
People in the comments going on and on about how she killed her stepson without hesitation... I guess they don't understand that she didn't have time to stop and think about whether hitting him with the hammer would kill him or just knocked him out, since he was in the process of drowning a kid. All in all most people seem to be acting as if she had more power and control over the situation then she did.
Well, FoundFlix made a suggestion on which viewers followed. Ithink that they started seeing themselves in place of crazy teenager and came to conclusion that mother is horrible because they don't want to end like crazy stepson. Add to this the comparison to old puppy and new puppy and voila! We have "symphatetic" villain and "vile" heroine. For me whole comment section is bonkers because it's evident that son is dangerous and crazy xP.

I feel like it would have made more sense if Stephen was, in fact, originally catatonic, but recovered. When he realized he could essentially have his step-mother's attention all to himself because of his condition, he continued to act like he was still catatonic. For me, that would have made more sense.
How he managed to fake being catatonic is beyond me. There's no way the doctors would believe he's actually catatonic with all their knowledge.
Also she only hit him once, not as though she knew he’d die.

I know the sons insane, but she just was about to abandon him for another child.
anime Walsh, exchanging one lump of meat that once was her STEPson against a kid she could adopt and rescue.
Not to far off.
It's not her own child. He was the cause of her husband's death. Totally justified not wanting to be near that
It's like people who get rid of dogs when they stop being puppies. She just wanted Tom because he was little and cute. When he's older, she'll get rid of him for another cute new puppy.
@Brandon Goodman i really just think he was being sarcastic.I honestly can't imagine someone actually believing that. LoL.
Imagine if the kid was pretending to be deaf
She failed to help her step son so she disowns him to try again with another kid? Surely the characters drive to help and succeed is as much to blame for the killings? She fails to help her step son psychologically so she forgets about her mistake in order to try again, with no inkling to the fact she's raised a monster before?
BasedPeasant yep. She felt that it was too hard for her to handle mentally.
BasedPeasant you must be white
I haven’t opened a tiny door since I’ve watched coralline 😂
LMAOO THATS MY SHIITT
Coraline is my favourite movie of all time, still don't see how people get scared
@101 I can defo see why, but way more people get scared than they should
....wouldn't the doctors be able to tell by his brain activity that he wasn't catatonic? Like seriously, this is not a very well thought out plot and the climax is way too reminiscent of The Shining like he said. Love your stuff!
I just figured the kid did nothing and the doctors were like, “ehhh, guess he’s catatonic?” Sounds like something an American doctors would say.
@JimmyMACfluster
Poorly thought out plot, or is it? With all this "I identify as..." (i.e.- Catatonic) shit going around it'd be no big surprise.
whythelongmoustache Take a joke sticky
It's really common for doctors to assume that pain is "all in your head" even when you're literally screaming, without bothering to do any tests to see whether it is or not. Why is it so unbelievable a doctor could just assume someone was catatonic based on their behaviour? There are a lot of crap doctors out there.
To each their own.
No she's a pretty shitty mother. It's fine that she killed Ben cause she really had no option, but she's still a bad mother.

How did Naomi Watts get custody of the deaf boy if she was only his psychiatrist?
Jaquelyn Dixson because it happened in a batman comic
This movie isn't about fighting robots or even ghosts. It's reasonable to ask why this psychiatrist was able to adopt this child or at least get some sort of guardianship. She's crossing the line for psychiatrist and patient. Also she should be investigated for the murder of her step-son and under review by some psychiatry governing body. Also dude, it's just movie don't take my opinions so seriously.

Oh I thought the plot twist would be that Stephen actually died and was reincarnated as Tom.
Hey It's Lily That sounds even more stupid
watch Birth. with nicole kidman
TheEverWilde wow white people really crazy
it's a hard situation. she never would've been attracted to him in the way he was to her, because HE WAS HER SON, so even if tom was killed she would've been miserable. he's definitely stronger than her and wouldn't have let her leave by herself ever. she would've been kept prisoner. honestly, it was the best option
Lol yeah bonkers haha. A stepchild killing your husband. Don't wanna be near that.
It wasn't her son
believe me its not just you, it felt so wrong how she just killed him without hesitation, I mean it was HER SON after all
step-son.... so its fine
Nicole Cabrera step-son
She killed him in desperation!
she was also defending herself. so u really can't blame her.
Elmer Todd defending what she wasn't being killed he was going to kill tom so still she fucked up

That dude from "Stranger Things" looks like 90's Leonardo DiCaprio and 90's Edward Furlong were spliced together.
He kinda looks like Norman redus too
Feline Fatale actually he looks like one of the main characters from chronicles.

I'd love to see u do an ending explained for The Babadook
Nick Gorvokovic He did dips**t
Nick Gorvokovic Can anyone?
John Cena Babadaba no he didn't Bruh
Skyler Maves it's easy. The Babadook isn't really a monster. It's a metaphor for depression. The monster is depression. And at the end, when the monster is tied up and she feeds it, it means she has it managed.
Movie Lover206 Shhh. Also you forgot to mention that as the monster gets more dangerous, the mom goes through the six stages of her grief
8:22 she ran the stop sign :/
I feel like that whole ending was a little too heavily influenced by The Shining... the doctor coming to save them only to die shortly after he arrives, the son chasing the others around with the hammer, backtracking the footsteps in the snow...
Isn't it like Split then
The McRib I also think that there was a bit too much of Psycho in there too. The son has a weird attraction to his mother it isn't revealed until the end. It's supposed to make the audience uncomfortable but feel bad for him. Eh, I just hated this movie.
8:19 “Oar is it?” Pun intended Lol.
Why didn't he call cops
Brett Bailey yeah why

UA-cam algorithm:
Wow this movie is terrible. But the idea of someone pretending to be in a catatonic state could work... if it was set in like the 40's or before. It made no sense that the doctors didn't know he was pretending.
I wish in the movie Mary had a fight with Steven and says "IM GONNA MAKE CATATONIC FOR REAL THIS TIME BITCH!"
Random muscle spasms happen in the body. Sometimes theyre violent
Catatonic is not paralysis, and can be faked although it is very hard. And Tom probably goes really fuckin nuts in the end.
Benzodiazepines are actually an approved treatment for catatonia. They’re especially used on inpatient services.
The "boo" is violent
"Never open tiny doors!"
Looking at you, Coraline.
I mean if anything she could have knocked him out then tied him up in several different scenes
@@mangafan21100 and he could have gotten free and killed a child, the guy was a murder and kinda proud of it you really think you could risk that in the moment? its him or you

HOW CAN SOMEONE BE SO AFRAID OF SOMETHING THAT ADORABLE AS TOM!! I MEAN LOOK AT HIM
I do understand why she decided to kill Steven mainly because he was responsible for the death of her husband and I'm not surprised that she wanted to get rid of him because if it wasn't for Steven being such a horrible child you know her husband would be alive.
A psychologist.
finally its all over
or is it?
yes it is

@@Nike-nm8jc I mean... considering a large amount of cops irl, it's a gamble. They need better training for tense moments, I think, in real life and *definitely* the characters in the movies.
Rush to the house and at no point call 911. Then kick in door, and get killed immediately by the bad guy. Sigh.

LOL I watched the trailer for Shut In before I watched this video and I already knew what the twist ending was for this movie. It was so fucking predictable and I didn't even have to watch the movie or this video....Signs of a bad movie!
ur wrong, if you are thinking this way about good or bad movies. Those arent the critiria
More like a bad trailer. That being said not too far into the movie I did kind of predict the ending. But I do like when movies surprise me, like The Boy. It seemed like your average creepy doll flick but I was pleasently surprised by the twist.
I just thought Steven was possessed by a ghost or a demon. Kind of a cool twist
Kevin Jackson yeah, they have to draw in viewers in the trailers
This is why movies like Jigsaw are so GOOD
The trailer contains a few small spoilers but other than that, nothing!
When I saw the trailer I thought her sons soul had left his body and was haunting her
I mean like, this whole movie was just screwed up. She replaced her own son with a deaf boy! I think the real villain here is Mary because WHAT.
I know fam.
Of course, his reactions were murderous and creepy, but before that she had no reason to give up on him
this movie sounds awful.

Coffee Fresh yeah it does
There are a lot of random Shining homages in this, even the foot prints in the snow trick.
Benzos dont do that though...if she was being drugged that badly she would just blackout
Mmmmmmm Benzodiazepines
The writer obviously had no experience or just hoped the viewer is stupid. No way would a grown up, especially a doctor, not notice getting drugged regularly.
Magnus Kallas well benzos aren’t even actually tranquilizers like the movie plays them out to be, it’s a depressant used to treat anxiety etc. but yeah she definitely should have noticed being drugged.

Causality loop
why would the writers make it so that the son fooled everyone that he was actually catatonic??? like medical staff have tests for that shit and why pretend at all? youre going to tell me throughout the incident, they werent going to try physical therapy, checking of nerves, surgery.....literally anything, they just instantly go "WELP HE HASNT TALKED FOR A WEEK HES CATATONIC BYE" It seemed like there was no point for his character to want to pretend at all anyway???? And all of a sudden he becomes a clingy psychotic murderer when his step mom gets a new kid in the house? It just seems set up really terribly.

The first fucking thing I said when he was in the wheelchair was "He's definitely not hurt"
He should make an podcast where he reads stories and explains stuff
There's a guy with his own channel called movie reviews he does that really tells you everything and anything about the movie in just a couple minutes it's like you don't even have to actually watch it cuz he simply explains every detail!!
Movie recap
I get really upset when troubled kids or little kids get really upset like when a kid doesn't get something and is completely wrecked by it and the parents can't calm them down. I just feel so sorry for them
I watched stranger things so the whole time I watched this video I was like hey Jonathan, you're looking a bit more psycho-ey today.
stop hammer time!!!
I love when movies pretend that locking a window somehow makes the glass unbreakable :P
mom is crazy, son is crazy. smh
DASUPERCATMAN1 Mom crazy? You mean his bio mom because his step mom was pretty sane.
RockBeauty :3 right
I think she did try her hardest, but she realized that she couldn't help Steven anymore which is why she had him sent away. When she later found out that he was the one behind eveything, she didn't have a choice but to kill him.
It was either he killed her for leaving, or kill Tom because he was a threat to him.
To me she did the only SANE thing left to do:
Kiill him on the grounds of self defense...
This man has saved me hundreds and I thank him for being one of our godsends
Thank you for saving me $15. Hey I always wanted to know about vanilla sky!
"Never open tiny doors"
That Coraline movie that scarred all of us as children: "Don't tell me what I alreade know"
Inception, interstellar, sphere are all worthy of explanation. No wait, I want to hear you explain Blue is the warmest color scene by scene.
My mum always puts on movies that i don’t know the name of. 😂 Then I watch videos like this and realize I’ve already watched this.
I have a challenge explain the ending of "The Room" and pretty much everything
The plot is like one a film student would submit for an assignment and get a C on.
ily you foundflix
this movie has 2 actors i know, tom is the actor of august from wonder, and Steven is the actor of jonathan from stranger things, asa dressed in the video
That I think is the most stupid thing ever
Not as horrible as Hostal
+Jake Bryant Hostel 1 wasn't that bad. Hostel 2 however bullshit. Absolute bullshit. You cant make a movie after giving everything away in the first and try and spin it as a look at it from the other angle. It was an awful sequel just plain awful.
