This is one high ranking band. The vast majority were in the top three enlisted ranks, a Colonel for conductor, and the secretary of the Air Force on bells.
Many years ago, when I was a college music major, playing in the USAF band was my "dream job." The legacy of Colonel Gabriel is certainly continuing with the band today.
As with the other premier military bands, these are world-class musicians that are recruited for that specific purpose. Because of that they start out at E-6. Many of them enter the service with an MFA (Master of Fine Arts).

I was thinking the same... Then I thought: Maybe it's those folks who do not like the military and cannot see behind the uniform... They basically thumb down what the army represents for them... I don't mind the military, myself... I just wished with all my heart that this would be they're secondary duty, the primary one being saving lives in the event of a disaster... Or, maybe they just don't like the music! To each his (or her) own, I guess, right? Peace!....

Sorry, I think the AF Flash Mob scene in 2013 at the Air & Space Museum is much better. The scene in 2013 is much more of a spontaneous look, has a much better song and is played very well. Also in the 2016 scene what happened to the X-15, the Wright Brothers plane, the Apollo 11 Capsule, and several other "milestones of flight:?

Wow this Band is Awesome, and the Flash Mob is a great effect, look at the expressions of Joy on most of the face's in the crowd, as everyone one knows Music is Universally capable of uplifting the Human Spirit, I'd love to see this Band live but not enough to travel to Washington D.C.

As a former docent at the National Air and Space Museum, National Mall Building, (NASM-NMB) I also appreciated the views of the new Boeing Milestones of Flight Gallery! :-) The last time I visited NASM-NMB, the new gallery was under construction with lots of construction material still visible.

More than 150 members, comprised of six musical ensembles.
Band did a superb job under what had to be difficult circumstances in which to perform. USAF musicians are great!!!
