really like the tip about the dowel and pencil sharpener. since I have an awl, I can use that. Now have another use for my awl.

After watching this video I bought one. Machining thick fur fabric which kept moving away ... got out the new stiletto and it was so good it kept the fabric where it needed to be. Much better seams. Thank you thank you! I'll try this when I'm piecing my next quilt.

Thank you for this video. I have never tried using a stiletto and I wasn't sure what to do with it. Very informative!

Now I know what that thing is that came in a box of random sewing stuff I got from a garage sale! I thought it was a weird skinny awl or something, lol. I'm totally going to use it now!

Wow that's really interesting. I've only started sewing recently and struggled keeping the blocks aligned during sewing. I have seen other videos where the person used the stiletto but they didn't talk about it. I thought it was silly and a waste of money but after watching this I can see how it can help. Thanks a bunch!

I use chop sticks most of the time. Also have the "purple thang" but it's not as pointed. Great tips.

This tool is helpful for sewing the curved hem of dress shirts.
Some people call it an awl, which is also pointed, but I think the main purpose of an awl is to punch holes.

Very good video demo. I purchased a set that allows me to put snaps on fabric for cloth diapers and cloth pads and such. It has something with a sharp point that I poke a hole in the fabric with before inserting the snap. I'm guessing I could use that as one?
