A lot of people don't bring up the soundtrack to this movie but the soundtrack is one of Elfman's best. Next to Tales From The Crypt, it perfectly captures the sheer gothic atmosphere and macabre tone of the Frighteners.

I'm a Danny Elfman fan but you really have to appreciate his whimsical, darker music in all its complexity to savor this track and score in general. There's not much to whistle here other than the very beginning. The music for this film would be a filler in his score for Batman, for example. For completists only.
Wow thank you so much for the quick reply! I want to use one for the music for my new movie and for the life of me I couldnt figure out what it was called.
This film doesn't get nearly enough appreciation!
Truth
I love it when Danny Elfman is so creepy, scary, democratic, thrilling and sometimes funny.

I hope Peter Jackson still has it in him to make at least *one* more horror movie.
What is the instrument that starts the song? Some sort of piano?
A harpischord.
Cool little piano-esque instrument of the olde tymes.
