It's rare to listen to past artists play together that were contracted to different record companies such as Menuhin and Gould signed to EMI and CBS respectively. These film and radio concerts are all we have and they are to be cherished.
menuhin is a wonderful violinist, but glenn is such a finessed and nuanced accompanist, he really brings out the best in them both! a fantastic collaboration! :)
he was a genius... check out his last live performance with the toronto symphony when he performed the emperor concerto ... the original pianist cancelled at the last minute, and they called glenn and asked him if he would fill in... it was for a television broadcast to celebrate beethoven's 200th birthday... he had last played it 4 years before, and with only one night's preparation, he performed it live from memory... and he does it flawlessly and so beautifully... unbelievable! ua-cam.com/video/kpz_U8wHpa8/v-deo.html
