Chameleon was born into a world that threw him out like garbage. He’s easily the most tragic villain and probably the only one who deserves sympathy. That being said, he was also either crazy or just stupid crazy. Even after Peril told him that he could just make his own treasure instead of working for tyrants for it, he STILL persisted on doing so. And despite all the tribes he helped damage, he never even touched the RainWings with his power aside from Kinkajou, who just simply crossed paths with him. He never cared for the journey to revenge. He just did what he could to get more treasure on his body. And despite all that, he never considered himself a bad guy. Right up to his final showdown with Qibli and Kinkajou, he truly believed he was entirely the victim. Maybe he figured that since the world didn’t give me a chance to be good, he had every right to cause misery as he pleased. This truly is a perfect example of a villain that was made entirely by the world around. His origin story would make a perfect Winglet.
@Emmanuel Brijandez Torres he didn’t. They were part of the breeding program to get more skywing soldiers for the war. Immediately after they had dragonets, he left and never came back. I bet he never even knew her name.
I have a different angle on Chameleon that I've been thinking about. Chameleon according to Chameleon is always the victim. No narrative that came primarily from his mouth can be trusted because he always twists the events to his own advantage. Chameleon cannot change colour. Rainwing colour change is to show emotions. Chameleon cannot change colour I think because he unconciously represses his own emotions. He's not a disabled dragon who was callously rejected by the tribe for it. He's a narcissist. You could argue that his snout defect and the way society is organised in the rainwing kingdom might have contributed to how he developed narcissism. However I imagine the events of him being kicked out of the Rainwing kingdom have much more to do with his actions than his differences. Or his actions because of his differences. (Remember most of what we know about Chameleon's exile comes from Chameleon himself and he is not worthy of your trust.) Imagine a young Chameleon doing the same things he does in the books but in the Rainwing kingdom. Constantly lieing. Sob stories. Taking advantage of others without empathy. Manipulating other dragons. Never fully taking responsibility for his actions. The Rainwings learn to hate him being different from them because they connect it to his actions and because he makes everything about him being different from them. They end up kicking him out because they are all sleepy chilled out Rainwings and Chameleon makes everyday life 300x harder for everyone.
Winglet from Sky, Scarlet and Chameleon’s perspectives. Winglets 5: Outcasts Takes place during arc 1, before Sky gets caught up in Winter’s scavenger shenanigans, before Scarlet is killed, before Chameleon is found out and beaten. It shows Sky trying to keep himself and Wren alive, all the while struggling to find himself beyond the fireless scales. It shows Scarlet’s rage and grief over what Glory stole from her, the deal being made with Icicle maybe, and definitely the dreamvisitor shenanigans. It shows Chameleon being ‘outcast’ from the rainforest and finding his way to the scroll, making his forms, meeting with Scarlet and making Pyrite. It would be perfect.
I want to remind people that Chameleon kind of had no choice when working with Scarlet. His three choices were to get killed, tell Scarlet about the scroll, since Scarlet saw him change tribes, which would end up in him dead since Scarlet would want that power for herself, or work for her, with no questions asked. Since Scarlet probably paid him handsomely, he started realizing he actually had power, and associated that with treasure, so his ego started coming in
ngl its taken multiple readings of the whole "shes not dead" scean in perils book for me not to want to STRANGLE Chamelon, if i remeber right my first reaction to that, was that he needed to be burned alived by peril, brought back to live to be forced to then eat catus while being burned alive agian. it made me so mad that he would hurt one of my favourite charter >: and its more frustrating that without him my favourite, peril wouldnt exsist!
Wait- your the one who did the Drawing wcue characters! Ofc again congratulations for 4.44k! Your way to underrated still. I hope you teh best of luck and the speediest subs!
Chameleon's snout deformity is explained as what caused his inability to color change He couldnt sleep for more then an hour at a time, making it difficult to bask in the sun (which rainwings require for their color change abilities) Granted, glory didnt get any sun either and she can color change, so i might be misremembering.
I don’t think it has to do with the sun but just sleep in general, since RainWings need more sleep than most tribes on average and that’s what fuels their abilities.
I really hope this isn’t rude aha But, I believe that Peril’s name is pronounced Pear-all, not purr-il Other than that, I really liked this video! It was very well made, and very nice to listen to! Good day :)
Does anybody think it’s strange that Chameleon and Kestrel of all dragons made twins one of which had too much fire and the other one too little? Like does Chameleon’s magical scroll have anything to do with the process. We all know animus magic can possibly do anything but resurrection. It also passes genetically, so does that have anything to do with the firescales and lack of fire thing?
Chameleon is my least favorite character in the series. He has wish magic with no consequences yet doesn't think to simply wish for what he wants. If he wanted acceptance, he could wish for it, if he wanted riches, he could wish for it, if he wanted love, he could wish for it, if he wanted power, he could wish for it, if he wanted destruction, he could wish for it, if he wanted to just annoy everyone, he could wish for it, and let's not pretend scarlet could do anything about it. But he doesn't, and it makes no sense. He is my least favorite because I simply cannot see him as a person who could exist. He is a woefully inconsistent mess that never fails to shatter my suspension of disbelief.
This is off- topic, but some artists make their art stickers. You could do that and I am totally sure a lot of people would buy them off you, my computer is full of Wings of Fire stickers, if you consider the idea, lol, maybe you'll be on the collection!

@Emmanuel Brijandez Torres no problem. I forget minor details all the time.
i would LOVE a winglet/legends on him

Chameleon is 100% most wanted Winglet or heck even a full on legends. I would love to see more of his past.
Yes, give him one Tui.

chameleon went to get milk and came back once he realized peril was stronk and cool
3:14 I'm pretty sure it's mentioned somewhere that Chameleon made it so his Skywing shape could father firescales
I find it interesting that Darkstalker never questioned who had his scroll before his powers were returned to him.
He was pretty hungry...
Probably saw it in their minds, I think

What about vulture
@@reptile1677 he had his ego before working for Vulture
I mean, he could use the scroll against her
@@3rdEyeLennyhe worked for vulture?
@@L-ghtlessSky He worked for Scarlet in Books 7 and 8, then moved to Vulture after Scarlet died
I want to see Chameleon given a second chance and failing given a third chance and finally learns to be loved
Chameleon is defiantly a really bizarre character, amazing art 4rcane!
great vid!
one thing i wanna point out is that chameleon had someone teach him how to read/write, he didn't do it alone
I love this channel it's amazing
This is a great video! Chameleon's such an interesting character

it does. he made a SkyWing form with the ability to have dragonettes with firescales.
