I wonder if there is an electric motor that could be fitted in place of the center gear and have that switch on the dash to lopen n close it using power from the dome light and upping the fuse 5 amps and add a factory fog light switch to the guage bezel and delete a dummy switch hole cover . And say oh my vw is special it's sunroof is power... but what motor has the same gear size and bolt holes is the research to find that motor.
Thank you friend, no need the remove the headliner, just open the sunroof a little so you can unclip the sunroof trim panel and slid that back, that's the bit which this video didn't show.
Great vid - helped me repair the sunroof. however, how do you refit the headliner panel to the sunroof? Its too big to go in from the underside and won't fit the mechanism from the top. Can you help?
Hey there, thanks you, It was my first video and very poorly made, I should really make another one, yes you make a good point and something I left out, that trim panel must be the first thing to go in.
Hi there, these pop up on ebay every so often, I think you can still get one from classic VW in Germany, 321 877 381 B but hope you're sitting down @ £147+vat

Thank you, one of my first videos, I can't watch it as today it would be a little bit better, I may do an updated one at some point.

Great video, my cables I think are broken. To carry out the removal and refit, do I need to remove the whole headliner of the car?
Thank you friend, no need the remove the headliner, just open the sunroof a little so you can unclip the sunroof trim panel and slid that back, that's the bit which this video didn't show.
Do you know why my wind deflector wont close fully it closes like 90% and you need to push it with fingers to close sunroof.Side arms are good
At any point do you have remove the whole headliner? Do you disconnect the drains and have to reinstall?
Yes to remove the drains, you may get away with it at the front, but not the rear ones.
Is this the same sunroof as in the polo mk2?
Yes same same
@@RestoDesignsnandodo you know if a mk2 sunroof mechanism will fit onto a mk1? Thanks

If your plastic cable part broke you can print it in 3d, there is a page called thingiverse where this plastic part is designed
@@martiestmor99 are you able to change the bits over to the new one then I suppose?
