- Today I review the new 2023 Nissan Z Performance with a manual transmission after living with it for a week. I drove this thing all over the place to see if it was a good daily driver.

Thank you for taking the time to talk through some of the practicality issues after using it as a daily driver, everyone else is too busy comparing it to the supra to mention those things. Awesome review!
Thank you very much!
One of the most attractive new cars. It really grows on you and you will come to a point where you will absolutely want one. Gorgeous!
Wow brother, now Thats the kind of review you Dont see that often! I know from experience, that cars I was In Love with on test rides, turned out to only show their deeper flaws after extended time in the seat.. An example was the 82 supra ,which back in the day had those recaro like killer seats..well on test drives they felt great and I loved that car...I ended up getting one and after a few months , thjose same seats had Destroyed my lower back, so much so that I ended up selling it becuz i was literally in pain whenever I drove it...I think those were great points you mentioned about ur time in the Z.....few reviewers have ever bothered to to give long term impressions beyond their initial fascination.
Hey, thank you very much! I tried to really dig in and see what it was like to live with. Honestly, the seats and flimsy interior bits might be a deal-breaker for me. I was in legitimate pain after a week of driving this daily. It's definitely very impressive from a power perspective, but I couldn't daily it.
Excellent review, Jason.
Thank you!
Loved my 350Z/370Z/Q50
I beat the shit out of those cars for many years and they never broke. Can’t wait to buy this.
Great review, I've owned to Z's, a 13 touring and presently a 16 modified Nismo. The new Z is a great powerful car in a straight line , but the added weight and average suspension is a deal breaker. My Nismo is the perfect car for me. Great power ,track ready and I got 20,000 plus miles out of the tires!
That's great to hear. I think you nailed it. It's just too much weight for how small the car is, and the suspension is more set up for grand touring than aggressive driving. But in a straight line, it's awesome!
Best review of the Z!! Thank you! I've been on the fence on getting a 2024 Base Sport after stock comes in and mark ups go away. Premium fuel and blank buttons were a concern but ,you got me on interior noise and seat issues. I'll keep my 2019 Impala with acoustic glass and triple sealed doors, 305 HP is enough.
Thank you! It truly is loud inside, and the seats were honestly pretty painful on my thighs, even after just a few minutes. I actually think the new GR86/is more fun. The seats on that are WAY better, too.
it needs new tires because it was tracked during the press drive, probably 10 different people drove it ahead of you as well and well ofc they floored it. gosh its annoying nissan sent these cars to these so called reviewers
Ikr! I bought the damn thing and am yet to sit in one 😂 double standards
I know the history of this specific one and I don’t think it was tracked at any press events. It just needs better tires. And seats. And an exhaust. 😁
@humble harambe I actually really liked the manual transmission and the suspension. For daily driving, they were great. If you're wanting to track it though, yeah, you might want a different suspension setup.
@humble harambe the manual is perfect, and that's what people should be getting anyway. The rest is easily changeable. You need to pay to play.

Around 4k rpm the boost climbs from 12 psi to ~16 psi ...
If you think 400 hp will get you in trouble go drive a zl1 Camaro. Mine gets up to “oh shit” speeds really quick lol
Love it!
I just purchased a BMW 230i at $39k. Of course it’s not a sports car like the Z but it’ much more luxury and quite quick with great handling with rear wheel drive. Better daily at a better price with more bang for your buck.
Nice choice! I drove a fully-loaded M240i not long ago that was only a few grand more than the Z and it was faster, more comfortable, and way more practical. Much more bang for your buck.
Shit. Not joking, I was thinking about buying one in a couple days and using it to commute to work and for fun on weekends but the cost of ownership (tires and brakes) has really made me think again.
I would go with the base trim of Z. $40k usd is a decent price for the Z.
Totally agree.
Beware 3 obvious blank buttons on console and no Bose to offset road noise. I was considering a base Sport in rosewood, with added rear spoiler. 18 inch wheels look great and will help on harshness of ride.
Yeah nissan has no excuse for that exhaust look at the Hyundai Veloster N, Ford Mustang GT and the mini cooper jcw. You can have cats and still have a loud car..
Hey great review. Thinking of trading in my gr86 next year for something more powerful. The Z is my most likely destination. But the road noise and lack of engine sound in lower RPMs are two things I'm not loving about the car, based on the reviews anyways. I'll be considering the SS 1LE too, though I know it just won't have the same sportscar feel.
Thank you very much! All great choices! If you got the Z and an exhaust, you'd probably be very happy.
The Camaro 1le won’t feel like a sports car? Are you kidding me? The 1le will murder this car on a curvy road lmfao. You need to do more research before making your decision.
@@mogulme6190 I'm not talking about how capable the car is. Simply referring to how the car "feels". I remember test driving a 2018 camaro ss, and compared to the 370z nismo, while the camaro felt much faster, it also felt a bit numb. Now granted that was an automatic and it did not have 1le package. So I'm curious to see if a manual and the package plus new model changes make it a more connected driving experience.
This is only an updated 370z manufactured in the same plant so why the holdup getting this car to the public?
🤷♂
I believe they are watching the sales numbers to see whether or not they are going to produce this vehicle or not.
I like it I want this than Supra mix with unrealiable bmw engine
I want to buy one but all the dealers in my area don’t have any🙃
I think production has been pushed back a few months, so that's only compounding the issue of availability.
Hows the blind spots for the new Z?
Cuz i know the 370Z had huge blind spot issue....... that's why i asked lol
It's pretty huge. Thankfully the BSM system does pretty well.
$40 k for weekend fun or second car
I would never get the first model of anything, it’s a golden rule, look at the Toyota supra ‘how many’ internal changes…wow
Hard to hear what you're saying with all the road noise. No sarcasm....I suggest placing the mic closer when you record.
Yeah I had thought not using a mic would be good for you to hear the road noise, but looking back I wish I would have. Sorry for the ear-straining.
@@jasonbellcars Good review, thanks

What did you expect ?? 4k resolution on a camera that you will use for 5 seconds ???
the fact that Hyundai/kia have a better back up camera at a cheaper price...
@@MJT-DAthose Korean cars are garbage..lots of recall coz u know why they invest more on info entertainment not the engine and tranny
Go Supra!!!
A big issue with these new Z’s will be that once those tiny little Turbo’s go out “which they will” you’ll have to pull out the engine to change them. That is serious labor money if you cannot do it yourself.
If you have to even think this is “a lot of money” especially for what you get, this isn’t your level yet. Kinda seems like this guy isn’t ready to drop 50k on a car, he’s still in the 30-35 range comfortability range, so the answer is…. This isn’t the car for you.
For the rest of us, it’s a steal!
Also, a lot of car reviewers have been complaining that Nissan wasn't "forward thinking" enough with the exterior design of the Z! From the very beginning, Nissan stated that the new Z was going to be an homage to the first generation Z's. I think that Nissan succeeded very well in their quest!
It’s been thrashed by every person who has driven it, and you are surprised the tyres are worn out. I think you should rethink your channel.
Yes, I’m aware. Still, it chews through tires. And would owners drive it any differently? Probably not.
@@jasonbellcars German brands chew through tyres, driving their unpowered cars normally, but I’m pretty sure you have never mentioned that, when you have driven those cars, just speak to a Mercedes service advisor.
