I'm an American and I remember watching clips of the UK sketch show as a kid, we loved it! That's why I was so excited for Lee Mack to be on Taskmaster, but it seems most others knew him from wilty.
Another one you have to watch with James Acaster is the Christmas one. Both parts of his is funny, especially the guest appearance. I guarantee you won’t regret it
Great reaction. I would suggest "Claudian Chicanery - Claudia Winkleman on Would I Lie to You? [HD] [CC-NL,TR]". Its a compilation of her appearances on WILTY and she's brilliantly funny.
Thanks Mystery! That sounds great no one had suggested Claudia before and she's great. I'll pop it on the list and we'll have a look! Cheers for the suggestion!
I would reccomend 2 wilty clips. "Victoria doesn't know this..." David Mitchell share a story of what he does to his wife when she does something he doesn't like, when the wife is sitting next to him. The second clip is Lee Mack about a Terra pot!
When I was at school (in the UK) back in the early '90s we used to hide open bottles of milk in people's lockers/studies/common rooms in places where you wouldn't find them. Fast forward a week or 2 and the smell was terrible and it was most hilarious when people couldn't figure out why and couldn't find the milk for ages. It got bad at points as it created a real back & forth and the stink of off, curdled milk in general just got too much. It was kind of like a milk version of a dirty bomb, a long form stink bomb.
I blame your channel for my addiction to this show! I am now hooked! 😊 More of James (he had 3 appearances so far) and Bob Mortimer and also Pitch Meetings! PM is where I found you. More power.
Hahaha Thanks for the kind words Nathaniel! Great to hear we introduced you to WILTY, it's pure comedy gold! There is always more James Acaster in the works haha, and you'll be pleased to know we are about to chip away at Bob Mortimer's two big compilation videos, so plenty of WILTY goodness ahead! I hope we keep finding random comedians from all corners of the world so we can all share the laughs together.. I've already been introduced to some hilarious youtube clips I otherwise probably would have never found without doing this channel. I'm hoping we get an Avatar 2 pitch meeting this week, if so I'm moving it straight to the top of the list haha.
Yes Alan! I think it only lasted 2 short seasons but in my mind it felt like it was around a lot longer. The sign language interpreter sketch still makes me chuckle when I think about it!
Actually I admit over time I forgot the show. Then I saw a DVD set at my local library I think. The best of the Sketch Show. Something like that. Oh yeah. A memory. Blast from the past. Tim Vine as well as Lee Mack. Kitty Flanagan. Three men and three women ? Now over 20 years ago ! What the !?@#
@@alanburge2725 It's amazing that it's over 20 years old! I think I'm going to track down a few highlights from the show to react to, will be a nice trip down memory lane!
Just discovered this channel and this is the third WILTY clip I've watched you watch. The Aussie bloke on the right (I haven't learned their names yet), seems very good at this game. He's gotten all three right so far. He has a 'Winkleman' rate of success. Maybe the Bob Mortimer videos will bring that average down a bit.
Haha thanks! I'm the Aussie on the right (Michael) and have definitely had my fair share of incorrect answers too as you will soon see.. I think it's safe to safe Bob Mortimer humbles even the best WILTY players :D Who is your favourite WILTY guests? Mine are Bob and James Acaster for their stories, but Claudia for the sheer skill at deceit.
@@filmslate - Hi, Michael. I think I've binge-watched *all* of your WILTY videos now and I'd say, though I haven't been keeping count, that Blake does pretty well but *you* have a much higher than average strike rate. Not Bradmanesque, perhaps, but certainly Allan Border at his best. You have a very good analytical mind. You are going to *love* David Mitchell as you watch more of this show. I enjoy watching your process of applying logic and reasoning to your decisions. Sometimes it's no more than an educated hunch, I'm sure. I will leave it to others to recommend all the classic stories, but there is so much more than just those. Oftentimes a guest (not lived in the UK for 20 years, so many 'celebrities' are unknown to me now) will just come out with a *great* joke or story, or Lee's and David's analysis is the fun part. Or David's priceless rants and Lee's ridiculous lies when he just gives up and goes full on comedy mode. And of course, Rob's impressions and insults. You will definitely enjoy Miles Jupp's personality, I'm sure. There are quite a few others that come to mind, but you will discover them soon enough. The whole show is a treasure trove of joy. If WILTY was a sport, Claudia would be the world champion, without a doubt. I remember watching the Sketch Show. The only sketch I remember is the rendition of California Dreamin' with Kelsey Grammar in it. Talking of which, correct me if I'm wrong, but I'd wager Frasier is one of your favorite US sitcoms. Keep 'em coming!
@@renejean2523 Thanks again for the kind words Rene! As you can see from the channel, WILTY is definitely our favourite go-to show, so you should expect at least 3-4 clips from there a week :) I can imagine from the direction these videos are going, we are going to get so over the top with analysing the lies that we'll start looking into even their body language haha! I'll be sure to check out some Miles stories! I haven't seen much of him at at, though I can picture him losing his mind laughing on Countdown over something Joe was doing :D And I don't mind a bit of Frasier haha! If we were having the conversation of best late 90s/early 00s sitcoms, there is definitely a Top 3 placement for Frasier. How'd you guess?
@@filmslate - Thanks for the reply. I guessed you like Frasier because I've already got a good idea of what makes you laugh. And you're smart. I don't want to be unnecessarily derogatory to anyone, but I've never met a stupid person that *liked* Frasier. Perhaps when you have run through all the classic compilations, you could react to some *whole* episodes. There are really very few weak episodes throughout the run of the show. Having said that, has anyone suggested Sharon Osbourne's story? It was actually quite unsavory and painted her in a bad light. The only downer I can think of.
Thanks for the kind words again Rene! Yep Frasier is great (I'm team Niles all the way). Now that is a spin-off we all deserved haha. Sharon Osbourne was on the show? That does seem like an odd choice... but often those unlikely panellists can be the best! I'll stay clear of her episode though, if it ever comes up.. No one ever seems to notice, because he didn't mention it I guess, but the photo at the end, definitely replaced some smaller items with Brussel sprouts
Yes, parents of primary school children join in on sports days for the purposes of a wheelbarrow race - which is *exactly* what Gabe described. Obviously it turned out she was lying, but that wasn't the right reason to doubt that story.
Just had this recommended to me. Anyway, I'm a fan of The Sketch Show and liked was it Jim Tavares or something like that. Always remember this one sketch, pop "the sketch show toilet teamwork" into the UA-cam search bar 👍
