- Hi guys! We went out to the Little J today specifically to catch some Grannom activity. Well, that didn't happen, but the fish were still hungry and cooperative. We did see some BWOs and dark brown stoneflies. Most of the action was underneath, but towards the end of the day, we did get some top water action. I predict a great Spring fly fishing season this year. Hope y'all get a chance to get out there and have some fun!
Persistence pays off...very nice video. Great description of setup used. The glo-bug definitely works....beautiful fight and brown at the end....thanks again....
Hi Phil! Hope you’re out today, some little local streams are fishable. Thanks, that was a great fish to end the day! Appreciate you watching and commenting.
Definitely going out taking one of my little guys and I'll fly fish once I get him hooked up thx
Little J looks in great shape. Very cool seeing those fish take in the skinny water towards the beginning of the video. Great stuff as always Scott!
- Chris
Hello Chris! You said it 👍🏻, catching fish in skinny water is so cool, especially the big boys when they explode! Thanks for watching and commenting.
Beautiful Browns!!!! 👍🏼
Especially the at the buzzer one !!! Great fishing guys
Hi Chuck! Oh heck yeah, that buzzer beater brownie was the best, but he sure took everything I had to land him, whew 😅. Appreciate you watching and commenting.
Thanks Scott for an enjoyable video. Great job landing that last beauty. You do a great job adjusting your split shot. From the faster water to the slower water near the bridge. You do an excellent job watching for the slightest hesitation of your fly line identifying a strike. Great job nice video be well my friend
Thank you Michael for all your kind words and support. I lent my buddy the other day my rod with my setup and within ten minutes he caught two fish, he was surprised how easy it was to see the hit. He usually uses an indicator and sighter so he thought he would have a hard time, but he did great, easier than he thought. Stay tune for next Sunday’s video, trust me, it’s a good one. Thanks for watching and commenting.
A constant net full of fish….. no surprise here! Another solid day man! Good browns
Dan the man! Thank you brother. Hope to meet up with you this year. Gonna watch you new video tonight 👍🏻. Appreciate you watching and commenting.
Hey Scott! Thanks for the video. Lot of nice fish until you lost your Mojo😎 You even caught yourself. Nice ending to the day with that beauty!
Ha! You said it Dale! Things went sour there for about an hour until I had a chance to regroup. Redemption feels good 👍🏻. Thanks for watching and commenting.
You got me pumped for some Central PA. Fun video, Scott. Hope you are well!
Cory! Brother! I hear ya, now we just gotta dry out. I like rain, but enough is enough! We’re back out in Central PA next Sunday too. Stay tune, it’s a pretty good one. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Well done Scott!! My Grandson and I were at the Little J beginning of last week for a few days and caught some beautiful fish. Happy Easter.
Thank you brother! Nice to hear from you. That’s awesome, spending quality time with your grandson and catching quality fish on top of that 👍🏻. Nothing better for a granddad, I know it. Appreciate you watching and commenting.
Absolutely love Mr. David Rothrock, he’s such an amazing ambassador to sport of fly fishing. Extremely knowledgeable in the world of etymology, conservation and a great deal of many other things that encompass this great leisurely activity.
Just wanted to say thank you to the both of you and have an amazing Eastorial Sunday.✝️
Good morning and Happy Easter Mike! Rejoice! HE IS RISEN! Absolutely, class is always in session fishing with Dave. Appreciate you watching and commenting.

NICE FISH, Scott! I'm glad to see you still have not lost the sense of humor when they get off. Lol
Thank you Chip! Trust me, you wouldn’t like my videos of me crying 😢😅. Glad you enjoyed it.
Hi Scot, I like that you share some of the mishaps that can occur when you are fishing. Would have liked to have seen you small stepping to the side of the stream when you caught your boots. Great last fish. Thanks for taking us along.
Hello Jeremy! Trust me, it would’ve been comical 😄. Thank you, what a way to end the day, glad I was able to share it with everyone. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Beautiful fish Scott, enjoyed the video as always. Loved those yellow fins of those browns you caught! Amazing as always, appreciate the content!
Happy Easter Jerome! Thank you brother, yes, amazing how big and pretty those fins are…. and the fish too, HA! Hope you’re getting out on the water, it’s getting really good from here on out. Appreciate you watching and commenting.

Happy Easter Snook! Hope you had a wonderful holiday weekend. Glad you enjoyed the video, but best part about today is celebrating our risen Lord. Appreciate you watching and commenting.
Scott, Nice Brownie at the end Buddy! Happy Easter to you guys, I am glad you got your Mojo back.
Happy Easter Dave! Thank you buddy, me too! Appreciate you watching and commenting.
Wow Scott… You sure cracked the code. Glad I tied the BGN. Thanks for sharing your adventures buddy. Happy Easter!
Happy Easter Todd! You gotta fish the Big ginger nymph with confidence, that’s the secret for every fly. See ya soon. Appreciate you watching and commenting.
Always look forward to your fishing videos. I'm glad to see fish there on the stretch below the bridge in the beginning of your vid. I worked that area over with an expert contact nymph angler from Center County last September, and between the two of us we could not buy a fish on that part of the J. I'm counting the days until my trip to PA. Stay hooked! Bill
Happy Easter Bill! Oh yeah, gorgeous water below that bridge, next time I’d like to start down even lower. Gotta love the J! Thanks for watching and commenting.
@@pawoodsnwater7551 Thanks Scott. Happy Easter to you too! Best, Bill
Great day on the water Scott. Nice to see you were fishing with your good friend (YO). Thanks for sharing. (FORMALLY JOHN MICCIO).
Yo Big J! (Aka: John M.) 😅 Nothing better than sharing good times with good friends. Happy Easter and thanks for watching and commenting.
Wow! What a great way to end! Happy Easter Scott!
Happy Easter Scott! Thank you brother, I had to edit some of that last fight, I couldn’t budge him for a long while in that current, he was so strong and I had on 6x. I was very thankful I was able to get him in the net. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Great video scott you always seem to get into them.happy Easter my friend.thanks for sharing
Thank you Mike! Ya know, when I’m fishing, I’m also hunting, be patient and be a good observer. Happy Easter, thanks for watching and commenting.
Another great video. Scott really enjoyed it. Look like that last fish. Gave you a tough time. Maybe you better hit the gym well happy Easter and God bless keep up the good work.
Happy Easter Rich! Ha! Yep, I’m getting old, my arms can’t hang anymore 😊. I don’t know if it was the fish or the current, but both together wiped me out! But , in the end, he was in the net 👍🏻. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Hello Scott ,
Happy Easrer to you and yours . Fantastic video . Very suspenseful ending . A real nail biter for sure . You said you lost your mojo . Is that a new fly ? Please send me the recipe 😂 . Awesome day great ending god bless you brother . I'll see you out there this year for sure . Thanks for another great one .
Happy Easter Jeff! Omg, that last fish took everything I had, so happy and thankful I got him in the net. Ha! That Mojo Fly is my ace in the whole, I could show it to you, but than I’d have to kill ya’ 😅. Have a great holiday. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Lot of rain out there to keep those rivers running great for spring. Happy Easter. Much dry fly fishing to be had coming up. Caint wait. 🤞
You are so right Vincent! Should be a great Spring, get that casting arm ready! Happy Easter too. Appreciate you watching and commenting.
Fishing Mojo comes and goes. At least it came back lol. I was wondering if you offered Dave one of your glow bugs? LOL. I'm sure he passed. I'm looking forward to your Penn's video.
Hey John! Ha! Actually, that day, Dave was doing great using just one fly, a size 18 Sulphur nymph, wish I was closer to him to get some of his catches on film. Stay tune, Sunday morning at 6am, you can watch it before church with breakfast, ha! Thanks for watching and commenting.
Dude your videos are awesome your sooo skilled my guy
Hello Jarod and Happy Easter! Thank you for your kind words. Glad you’re enjoying them Appreciate you watching and commenting.
@@pawoodsnwater7551 would love to meet and get some good pointers at penns creek that’s one challenging river
@@jarodpollock779 Thank you brother, stay tuned for next Sunday’s video about Penns.
That was a honker!
Hi Pat! Yes, a big surprise at the end of the day. Appreciate you watching and commenting.
Wild browns hitting the glo bug. They should hit power bait too. Did you ever try that? lol Just messing with you again. Awesome video. Great looking fish. I have to get up there sometime.
Hi George! Honestly, I know guys who use a fly rod setup to fish bait, say they get a better drift than with spinning gear, probably so. Thank you buddy. Appreciate you watching and commenting.
Great video, Scott! Thanks for going over your setup. Do you have rods from Taylor Fly Fishing?
Good morning William! You’re welcome and my pleasure. No, I’ve never heard of Taylor Fly Fishing, I’ll have to look them up. Appreciate you watching and commenting.
A lot of the fish you lost was likley due to pinching the fly line with your finger against the rod instead of getting that slack up and fighting the fish with the drag.
I could be wrong, but I could see a big loop of line at your feet when you were fighting those fish.
Hi Dustin! Yes, I’m more of a traditional fly fisherman, I like bringing the fish in by hand. Now if a bigger fish puts himself on the reel, then I’ll fight him on the reel until the last few feet I’ll bring him in by hand again. I would say most newer guys I see use the reel more often, I don’t know why, on small to average fish really no benefit , I feel very in control, always done it that way from the start. But to each his own 👍🏻. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Hey Scott, currently using a 10ft 4wt but looking into a 3wt. what is your favorite rod/reel combo for rivers like the j and penns ?
Hi Josh! Exactly the rod you have, I love a 10ft/4wt outfit for both nymphing and dries, now if it was only for nymphing, I like either a 10.5ft or 11ft/3wt nymphing specific rod, but for me , I only use those type of rods in the Winter. Once Spring hatches start I’m using the 10/4 outfit, and that’s starting right now. On windy days I’ll choose a 10/5 outfit. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching and commenting.
scott you mentioned this is a 3 weight Marryat rod but what type of fly line are you working with here? 3 or 4 weight? weight forward? appreciate ya.
Hello Arthur! I’m using a Royal Wulff Triangle Taper Floating 3wt line. Just in the past 2-3 weeks, I put a new RW Triangle Taper floating line on all my reels. For me and my setups, it’s always performed well. Thanks for watching and commenting.
@@pawoodsnwater7551 interesting, i’ve never heard of the triangle taper. thanks as always! i used your rig the other day on a riv and was surprised at the results. now trying to learn more to fine tune. best to you.
@@mvsc-k5e That’s great! Two Summers ago I did a video called, “My Leader Setup”, check that one out. Plus please watch the first ten minutes of my video called “Nymphing a Snowy Penns Creek “, both of them I go into much detail about my leader setup and my drift presentation. Keep up the good work 👍🏻.
Hey, Scott, a real nice day and a real strong finish with that last one.
I think I heard you say you had your marriot 3w, in retrospect, would you still have used that or some different? I only mention that as that last fish had you sounding just a little tired.
Anyway, another great video. Thanks
Happy Easter Anthony! No, a different rod setup wouldn’t have changed anything. A 6x tippet, with a big heavy strong fish in a strong current is just a recipe for the fish controlling most of the fight, a 5x tippet would have helped much more. Thanks for watching and commenting.
I may have missed the tippet size so that makes perfect sense. Thanks and hope you had a very nice Easter.
Could you make a video on how you tie your glow bug
Hi Austin! On UA-cam just search Eggstacy egg fly pattern, there’s many videos on that. But honestly it’s very very simple, only four wraps of the Eggstacy material, and that’s it! I put a 3/32 gold tungsten bead on a size 14-16 TMC2488 hook, use a yellow thread, tye on your Eggstacy material at the rear of the hook take four wraps toward the eye, tye it off, and your done, easy peasy 👍🏻.
does dave still primarily use the drop shot nymphing rig? i find myself defaulting to more your style as I can tie it on relatively more quickly on the water. but the drop shot makes intuitive sense why it should work. thanks for a good vid
Good morning Arthur and Happy Easter! Yes, Dave still drop shot nymphs and he is successful, but yes I feel my way is a little easier to tye together, and to each his own. As Dave would say, “More than one way to skin a cat”. Appreciate you watching and commenting.
Hey Scott , you going to be up on the delaware between may 27th and the 30th? Me and my dad are going up for a few days. Would be awesome to meet up with you if you happened to be up there.
Hi Zach! Well, I don’t have any plans that week, so I can’t say yet. But if I am, I’ll try to remember to contact you back. Appreciate you watching and commenting.
@pawoodsnwater7551 we are staying at west branch anglers. Have never stayed there but looks like an awesome place so figured we would give it a shot. Love watching your videos thanks for the great content!
@@zachsnow8629 That’s awesome! Most of my Delaware videos feature the WBAs water and property, excellent water there from Hale Eddy bridge all the way down to the monument hole at the bottom end of their property. You’ll have fun, trust me.
Some days you eat the bear and some days it eats you, but today you ate more.
When you play with the cat, you get the claws! 😄 Hi Doug! It was sure an up and down day, but overall, fun! Thanks for watching and commenting.
