i wouldn't say random- these pictures were selected by me because they had what i wanted in my design. so instead of painting what was in my head- i sourced what i wanted from the pictures online. But every studio is a little different, as well as your production needs. some directors love photoreal designs early, if so- photobashing is best. some prefer a more traditional approach- then you could submit rough drawings and paintings
i do think if you google up Photobashing in general, there are good free and paid tutorials available! I mainly learnt through working in the industry, coming up with my own techniques over time
