Hi Friends! I hope you enjoy this video. I hope this helps and answers all your questions regarding how to clean your brushes.
In regards to storing your brushes. I like to store mine in a brush cup standing upright and I also store my overflow brushes in a drawer but I have them laying flat in a drawer organizer tray I got from Target. The benefit to storing in a drawer is that they wont get dust on them if you have a home that has a lot of dust. I don't have an issue with my brushes on the counter , because I clean them about every 2 weeks and use them daily. If you store them in a drawer, I would recommend getting a tray that can separate them from other products you may store in your drawer so they don't get damaged. Personally I am not a fan of a brush roll unless I am traveling. They can easily damage the shape of the brush head especially your brushes that have a longer, fluffier head.
I clean my brushes about every 2 weeks. Foundation or concealer brushes may need weekly cleaning.

Hi Lisa, thank you for making the video. I use baby shampoo that makes the bristles very gentle. I also wash the HANDLES of the brushes to get rid of the germs. Clean brushes = healthy skin. 🙂

To protect against any errant water from staying in the ferrules, you can lay them apart on towels as Lisa did. Then roll the brushes up gently in the towel to absorb any water from the brush fibers: then unroll it. Microfiber dish towels are especially absorbent.
Lay them back down on the towel to air dry. If I want to be super careful about possible residual water in the ferrules, I lay something very narrow along and under the ends of the brush handles to raise the ends slightly. This makes the brushes point very slightly downward (without bending brush hairs).
Luckily for me, our windowsills lie at a slight angle, so I air-dry them on my open windowsills (in he shade). Can't wait for my new RKBeauty brushes!

In Lisa's defense, I'm sure she considered water use. I've tried the off-on-off-on-off-on approach to save water, but IT stressed me out! 😅. Anyway, I concluded that if I have my brushes, the cleaner, and counter space set up efficiently with a predictable water flow, I don't waste nearly as much water as feared. Furthermore, a steady water pressure makes it easier to flush the cleaner and makeup out efficiently, and easier to avoid splashing water on the ferrules. Plus running is soothing to the soul. 🤗

Great video, this is exactly how I wash mine! The Beautyblender solid is great, either the white or black version. I bought one of the Benjabelle brush trees about 10 years ago, and it's been well worth the money. It holds the brushes upside down to dry, and you can fit a LOT in it at once. I also use the Brush Guards to keep the shape of my brushes. They also help the bristles dry faster.

Thank you Lisa! I have always used Dawn to clean my brushes with but recently purchased the Sigma cleaner. Need to get the solid now too. I always lay my brushes down with the ends (hair ends) hanging over the edge of a table. If I have waited too late in the weekend I turn the fan on them to speed up drying. They seem to keep their shape well. XO

I have used Dr. Bronner's castile soap as well. But I recently bought a Costco 3 pack of Olay body wash that I didn't like so much for my body, but it does a great job of washing my brushes. It is creamy and gets rid of the oily foundation residue. I think the creamy body washes have some moisturizer in them to remove makeup and condition your brushes.

Some great tips as well as a very helpful video Lisa. Thankyou. Just bought your BK Beauty Essential collection with your famous 101 Foundation brush, and Angie's new collection. All the way out to Australia 🇦🇺 The postage was terrifying, but necessary. So with my investment and it has been a big one, I most certainly want to look after my brushes. I do have a battery powered brush cleaner. Spins the brushes in soapy water, then spins them pretty dry. Anyone else out there tried or has one of these? The brushes dry super fast and after spinning the water out, you just reshape and lie on a towel as Lisa said. Though, the brush trees look the go. Thanks to everyone for their helpful tips!

Hi Lisa, I’m a newbie using a foundation brush to apply my liquid foundation. Ordered your big 101 Contoured foundation brush and received it today. Can’t wait to try it! Appreciate this video how to clean brushes. But I noticed using the solid cleaner canister, right after dipping every dirty brush, it is contaminating the solid cleaner. So I think I’ll use the foaming cleaner you spray into your palm or use Dove or Dial bar soap. What do you think of using Dial antibacterial soap bar? Thanks, Judy

I have seen some genius brush drying arrangements lately! For the first, Google "pool noodle hack makeup brushes". I've also seen elastic hair ties used to attach brushes to a towel bar. And I've seen toe separators for toenail polish used to hang brushes.
All of these allow you to hang the brushes vertically with the brush heads down. Fun DIY stuff!

I agree that it takes forever to rinse shampoo out of brushes. I've been really happy with ECOTOOLS makeup brush shampoo. It cleans my brushes quickly and gently (no parabens or phthalates) and rinses out quickly and thoroughly. It's about $6 for 6 oz. at Wal-Mart. I also suspend my large and dense brushes upside down in a gizmo I bought there for about $5 that allows them to dry evenly and prevents water from entering or laying around the ferrule. I bought them both on a whim and I'm glad I did. I saved a lot of time and money.

What do you think of the sigma pink rubber pad that you swirl the brush on to clean?

How often does one clean that foundation brush, if I clean it after the 3rd use it takes me like 4 washes to get the foundation all off, no problem with the other brushes. I wipe it on a microfiber cloth after using it to get most of the foundation off. I have to kind of dig with my finger into the center of the brush to get it really clean. I was using the solid bar cleaner from Beautylish which they recommend for natural hair brushes too. I went in with the Dr Bronners bar soap and got it all out. I just placed an order for the big black bar of the Beauty blender solid. I’ve never used a foundation brush till this one, had awesome reviews, I have dry skin so using a foundation brush brought on the flakes, well not with this one, absolutely loving it. Thank you Lisa💖

I have a makeup brush spinner. It drys the brushes very quick, but it also spins so fast it flares out the hair on the brush as u hold it upside down to spin. Is this ok to use on my hot and flashy bk brushes. I LOVE them sooooooo much I do not want to ruin them. Thank you.

Lisa - how often should you wash your brushes. I wash mine after each use. The thought of putting a dirty brush on my face geeks me out. Is this wrong? Help!

Since I have some very high end natural bristle brushes as well as ones from BK that are synthetic, I am careful to use a conditioning soap. Things like Dawn and Dove dry the natural bristles out and destroy those expensive brushes. They need conditioning like the BB solid. I make my own brush soap and refill the BB container with my own. It uses Shea butter, natural solid glycerin soap base from goats milk and a few drops of an anti microbial essential oil like lavender. It works better than the BB solid and I can make a lot for much less than any brush soap out there, plus all of my brushes are clean, disinfected and smell nice and clean, not perfumed. I will warn everyone NOT to use Cinema Secrets on any brushes that have natural bristles. That will dye and destroy your brush super fast! I also use a drying rack to hold my brushes bristles down to dry and to keep the water out of the ferrules.

How long you let dry or how long does it take to thoroughly dry these brushes? I was hoping you would say how long…

Lisa, your top (or maybe a dress?) is the cutest I‘ve seen 🥰.
Your brushes look stunning and I would love to purchase them, but the shipping to Europe is far to expensive. Have to wait for a win in a lottery 🤷‍♀️.
    Hugs and kisses, Sabine 😘

Great advice. I didn’t think about water damaging the glue, etc.
you look so pretty as always! Did you mention the nail color? I saw someone asked you a week or so ago, I think I must have missed your answer!

Curious if you still use these products and methods. I end up never washing my brushes because I have a contraption I have to set up to dry with brush heads down and it’s way back in my cabinet lol

I love your brushes! I’ve been using the Beauty Blender solid which works well but it doesn’t last very long. Mel Thompson likes to use Dove bar soap so I’m going to give that a try....What are you wearing on your nails? I love the color!

Thanks for the video Lisa! The Sephora brand brush clearer bar is similar to the beauty blender cleaner but it’s cheaper and also REALLY good . Keep up the amazing videos! Ps - can’t wait for your individual bk brushes to go on sale!!!
