Omg I only just saw your comment. Thank YOU!!!! I have finished all episodes. Had to post the rest of the reactions on my patreon as I’m currently banned from posting on UA-cam due to copyright 😭 hopefully will be back being able to post next week so will share them to UA-cam then. But thank you for creating this story series! I learnt so much and you put them together so well. Incredible work ❤️
I think Ken learned his back flip because he was a varsity player of Sepak Takraw when he was in high school. This sport is like a volleyball, except, the players are only using their feet, knees, chest, and head to touch the ball. So basically, you have to perform different aerial flips in order for your feet and knees to hit the ball while its in the air.
Just answering your questions from the reaction: 1. They are all based in the Philippines. Also, they are not housed together. There was only a time when they did live together because they were doing multiple concerts and events. And the Korean owned company was a small and primarily an events entertainment company. They only visited Korea a few times for events and engagements. Most events were in the Philippines. 2. Filipinos are very accepting of the LGBTQ+ community. From countries I have experienced they are the most accepting. Filipinos are not racist. I think, which is sad is that Filipinos are more critical of our own than others. The press con was more trying to break them to get some buzz. 3. Best way to say goodbye is to say "SALAMAT" which means thank you. Hope you get to discover more of SB19 and you'll appreciate why fans love them. Their individual stories are truly an eye opener which anyone can relate to. Credit to Cashual Chuck that you get to know a little more about the boys!
Aurum is the name of their fandom when there was no official name yet. Stell or Pablo, I forgot which, said that they used to know each and every name of their fans because it was such a small group and they were the people who would always show up if they have guesting or events. That is why they incorporated Aurum in the official fandom name because they are so thankful to these handful of people who believed in them.
Is Lyra included in Aurum? She played a big role in letting the social media know about their talents and existence if I may say. To Lyra, wherever you are you're very well appreciated. 🙏
They lived and trained in the Philippines the whole time. Their company, ShowBT Philippines, is the Philippine subsidiary of the SBT Group..meaning they were managed by the Philippine branch of this Korean company in the Philippines. They launched as a Filipino group in the Philippines for the Filipino audience. They only went to Korea to record songs and perform in events, etc but not to train.
They are in the Philippines the whole time but went to South Korea from time to time to record their single. They catered to Filipinos but did some Korean antics because the Filipinos love the Korean artists.
The best way to know them is when they themselves tell their own stories in a series of podcasts with Kwentong Juan and the interview with Toni Gonzaga with Toni Talk. Good luck 🎉
No, you are so right about that reaction, Melanie. Those questions in the press conference clearly shows profesional journalism is long dead in our country.
You can put "sobra" before or after. When it's used before a word, we add "ng" like "sobrang excited," and "sobrang fun." When used after a word, it's like a new sentence. Like "this is fun! Super!" "This is fun! Sobra!"
Hi Melanie. Fellow Aussie here again. Thanks for another authentic reaction. SB19 interviews with The Juans (another group who are great mates with SB19 - I suggest you listen to their song “Back Home” - beautiful), and Zack Sang interviews will give you a bit more in-depth view. Thanks for reacting to Cashual Chuck stuff - he’s put his heart and soul into letting us know about SB19.
They cried after that first ever interview on their debut, backstage. I can't imagine how they handled it very well. But as they say the more you are pulled down the more, you'll be lifted. The boys truly deserve what they have achieved now. Thanks Melanie for digging deeper to know the boys! We appreciate it! sending love! ;)
Toni talks and Kwento juan's interviews are your best source of in-depth information on both their individual/ personal and group stories/struggles. These interviews will certainly seal the deal, touch and capture one's heart even more into becoming a certified A'tin. These boys are amazing... you just can't help but root for them❤️
Mahal = means Love ; also means Expensive Gusto = means "Love or like" Kita= means as You(referring to a person in front of you); also means "see" (pronounce differently) Kayo= being use for plural form(2 or more persons) ex. Mahal kita = I Love You Mahal ko kayo = I Love you (Ako/Ko=means "I") Gusto kita= I Like You Gusto ko kayo = I Like you all.
And to add: When referring to an object, you use the term "gusto". And "that" would refer to something you're not holding or something not near you so "I love that" would be "Gusto ko YAN". "This" = ito or 'to so "I love this" would be "Gusto ko 'to"
They were staying and trained in Philippines. As they still have side jobs to provide for their family because they have only enough allowance from their training company. Sometimes they dont eat because they dont have budget. They just travel to Korea if there is an event or recording.
Everytime I see their story especially how they bullied stell in that interview it makes me cried 💔 that's why I'm so proud of them all their sacrifices and hard work already paid off. ❤💙
sobra can be use as super or very!!! hehe!! so when you said sobra excited... its like super excited... or very excited!!! so you did great!! and youre right!! hahah great job!!!
Ken was an athlete( whilst being an Architecture student ) Justin is a graduate of Multi media arts that counts for the editing and visual creativity, Stell has the voice of a stage performer, Josh is the attitude guy and rapper, and Pablo is a graduate of A. B. English( plus credits in Accounting) that honed his poetry in songwriting. These guys are NOT dufuses, they may not look typical of popgroups these days, but they got brain's and voices that bursting out at the seams. By the time they get tired of performing they can very well be music producers themselves Support our boys!!
I got to experience their THE ZONE concert last 2019 with my sister (she forced me to come) and it was held for free. I didn't really know them at that time but I immediately fell in love with their amazing talents and performances. They're so funny and entertaining to watch.
Sobra on its own means "too much". Put before a word, and adding "ng" becomes an adjective. Sobrang ganda means too beautiful.. put after but w/o "ng" means too much. Ganda sobra also means same.
I watched an hour with you! I love hearinf your review to this one. Theyre a good guide to know SB19 members well. I hope you can check more of his work. He's a great editor i swearrr
Haha aww thank you so much! Just fyi I am currently banned on UA-cam due to copyright. Hoping my channel will be back up and running in a week. In the mean time I’m posting more reactions on my patreon for free to watch ❤️
love how you used "sobra" very good :) "kita" is you; mahal is more for love towards a person or something really valuable; if you want to say i love/like that, I think you can use "gusto" for like or love; "gusto ko yun" "i like that"
To answer some of your questions (been an A'tin since 2020): 23:17 - They were Kpop influenced and was initially trying to appeal to those who like Kpop because of how big the industry is. This was their entry point/strategy that's why Get In The Zone sounds KPop compared to their current music. And being with a Korean agency, most of their music production, if not from Pablo, were from Korean producers because the company doesn't know any local (Filipino) producers who'd take them in. While we did have PPop, it wasn't as robust as JPop or KPop and SB19 wanted to infuse more of our culture to our current Pop music. They were the ones who actually started to label the genre PPop, it was just plain Pop under OPM (Original Pilipino/Pinoy Music). And even when they got viral, there was still a massive resistance from the masses from calling it PPop and even labelled them copycats. But personally, I saw and believed in their vision so I supported them early on. In Ikalawang Yugto (Second Chapter), introducing Pagsibol, that's when they started to shed their KPop influence and started producing with Filipino producers with songs like What? and MAPA. 25:00 - Because their music was produced in Korea, they have to go to Korea to record. But they mainly trained here in the Philippines. 30:00 - Filipinos in general acknowledges gender fluidity and most are accepting. The journalist who was asking is actually gay. I believe he was a tabloid reporter that's why maybe he asks like that but still, it made us so mad after we watched this after they went viral and vowed to never let the boys experience something like this again. They were still so professional. 37:27 - Mahal (Love) Kita (You). But there are other meanings for mahal and kita in tagalog. Mahal also means expensive, and kita (key'tuh) also means see. So phrases like kita kita (I see you) and mahal mag mahal (to love is expensive) exists in our language. Crazy huh? For "I love that" as an expression, we use "gusto ko yan" as translation. Gusto=like, ko=me, yan=that(item) or yon=that(situation) or siya (pronounced as sha)=him/her. We don't use "mahal' in that context because we usually use that pertaining to deep love in the context of relationships. We do say "Mahal ko yan" but it's a deeper meaning of I love that. Ok this is such a long comment. LOL!
I genuinely like your reaction. I want to thank you for showing interest in PPOP but also having the intereset and taking the time to learn our languages. Thank you... ❤❤❤ more power to you
If ever you decide to watch the interview, you'll see how eloquent and humble these guys are. Despite the rudeness of the press they answered them with utmost respect and precises answers. About Aurum, it was the unofficial fans of SB19 when they were still starting and struggling with their career. And i consider myself as Aurum as well since I became a fan since December of 2018, Tilaluha era.
@@melaniereacts oh we all did hit the boiling point just hearing the annoying voice of that reporter. Wait til you watch the whole interview, you might breathe fire. Thank goodness we're not there. 😅
Thanks Melanie for being a SB19 Fan and you can say to them "MAHALIMA", a Tagalog Acronym for "MAHAL" which means LOVE and "LIMA" means FIVE. BTW, "PINOY" is a Tagalog Slang for PILIPINO. And PINAY for PILIPINA.
No one taught Ken to do flips. It’s a typical hang out sessions for kids especially on the country side to learn anything. They learn it themselves like acrobat, swimming, dancing, singing etc. They must have just done it on a beach or grassy soft soil. I grew up like that too but I just watch on the side. Those fearless kids like Ken is one of the example. We don’t really have classes like that in the countryside and if we do, we can’t afford it, so we learn it ourselves. Ken was a varsity player for Sepak Takraw before.(its like kick volleyball) his position was a spiker (which requires acrobatic skills) that must be the reason why he jump so high. I have seen his clips doing some sports like table tennis, volleyball, basketball etc and he looks like a pro in it. This man can do everything. Hard not to fall in love. And I am very happy and impressed to know that you are gymnast. Casual chuck also made a documentary about Ken’s story. You should check it out too
They underwent Korean-style training in the Philippines. They only went to South Korea for recording, photoshoots and some performances. They have always promoted in the Philippines. Pinoy means Filipinos
34:40 It IS ACTING. Yes, our boys are actually also very very VERY convincing actors if they're given the roles they want. Few fans know about it, but that fighting clip was actually a promo Christmas video. You should watch it. Pablo and Ken were so convincing in their fighting scene that the others felt really worried if it had something real beneath it (because obviously that's not how these two are in real life). But no, Ken is overall a very chill person that you cannot actually make him angry even if you wanted, and Pablo cringes at the mere thought of being too egoistic and fighting. Despite both of them wanting to look angsty in every which way possible, they're babies at heart.
If you're not a fan their back story will make you. This group had been through a lot. Not sure if there's a subtitled version but their interview with Toni Gonzaga will crush your heart but at the same time be inspired. The youtube channel is Toni Talks.
29:38 The Philippines is pretty conservative. TBH, this media panel shocked me (as a Filipino) because I've always seen media people as a respectful bunch. I've never seen other Filipino artists debuting with such a hostile questioning before which only made me think that the media as a whole at that time was very resistant of having boy groups created under Korean guidance. The automatic reaction was they were copycats to KPOP. To this day, PPOP still has that stigma in the country.
@@530MAIDU Which makes it more admirable for SB19 to start breaking through past the PPOP community and they continue to gain momentum despite people's narrow-mindedness. It's now hard to deny that they have such a strong following in the country and overseas. Fr that debut interview to now being backed by one of the main TV networks and a popular news org, they've really come a long way.
Sepak Takraw is an ancient Malay sport that played by Philippines and Malaysia historically. Now it is breaking in the world stage. You gotta see him play it. You'll be amazed...Cheers!
yes , you can use '' sobra'' before or after the word. depending on your context.. '' i love you so much'' gihigugma taka'' .its so fun to watch that you are learning Filipino and other Filipino dialect.
Thank you for supporting our mahalima, SB19 is not a ordinary group but their music inspires alot of people try to react their tagalog song with english translation you will understand their songs deeply and behid ghe meaning of their songs❤❤❤
cashual chuck also has his individual stories of the boys(pls check it out).. thank you so much (daghang salamat) for reacting agin for our mahalima.. ken is a varisty player in his school days table tennis and Sepak Takraw which requiers kick stunts for his position as a spiker, he also plays volleyball and also good in baskterball..an athletic one and a jack of all trades in one.. Gihigugma pud ka namo ( we also love you) amping kanunay (always take care) ❤
Yes, "Pinoy" means "Filipino". It's basically just a casual, non-formal way of referring to anyone of Filipino descent or to the cultures of the Philippines in general. I already mentioned this term before in one of my previous comments to your videos when I brought up Andrew E as being the "Godfather of Pinoy rap".
Yeah sobra happy, sobra excited are correct but if you wanna do it properly you add -ng to it, so: Sobrang Happy, Sobrang Excited. Sobrang Mahal Kita isn't actually used and Mahal Kita Sobra is valid but if you want to convey the same feeling you just go Mahal Na Mahal Kita, basically mean the same thing and it's used more.
Ken was a Sepak Takraw player. It's like foot volleyball but with badminton high nets and using a weaved rattan ball. And he was the spiker. Spikere are only allowed to use their feet to get the ball over the net and score points. The strongest spike is basically hitting the ball mid flip with your feet. Imo, takraw players need to be half-cat to excel. Because they need speed, agility and the ability to pounce and seemingly fly with those flips.
Love what Casual Chuck has done it has helped me as an international A'tin know more about them. I can't get enough of these incredible young men. My sweet talented boys. I check out all the content they give us and have huge respect and admiration for them.
The "fighting" scene is just acting from the Christmas special they made few years ago, but it is also true that there was a point earlier in their career that everyone left, except for Stell.
You can watch their interview with The Juans it’s called KWENTOJUAN with SB19 that interview shows their story on how they were before they got all the success. (Thanks for your reaction I enjoyed it a lot❤)
They were all trained in the Philippines, I think they only went to South Korea for their recordings(first few songs), and all their songs were composed by Pablo...
You can put "sobra" which functions as an adverb of intensity in either ways: In front of the adjective, but you have to add "ng" like: sobrang excited, sobrang happy, sobrang sad etc. After the adjective and a pronoun (ako-me) "Happy ako, sobra! Excited ako, sobra!" and so on. Thanks a lot for the RV.😘
this popped up on my recommendations. and wow, thats a lot of words you've learned!! you're doing well :) I speak bisaya btw, its nice to hear you learn phrases too. (its currently my week 3 catching up on older videos etc of sb19 since i am new to this fandom, i've heard of them before but didnt bother watching any content related to them)
Yeah that’s right. Most of the journalists in their debut interview are boomers. Sb19 and their company were literally like nobodies in the industry that time so i feel like the journalists were powertripping them. When sb19 finally gained fame, this interview resurfaced and a lot of people were shocked by the way they were treated.
Thank you, Melanie!

sobra is like an adverb... so we usually use it before the verb... eg sobrang excited ako.

FINALLY YOU START THE SB19 STORY!! you will have a very good journey with this STORY SERIES ABOUT THE BOYS
🥰❤️
@@melaniereacts please check them busking in LA , specially CRIMZONE - my fave from the group-😀 love to hear you try our dialects 🥰
I love that, means mahal ko yan 🥰 slmt for supporting the bois 😘
Sobra before the other words. As in sobra excited.
The scene where pablo and ken fought was a short film they made called EX-MAS
The same path I took. I learned about them coz of CashualChuck's docuseries...
The scene where they are fighting is actually a short film they did before.
Generally, Filipinos are more accepting of gays and lesbians. What really offend Filipinos are rude people.
Sad..for the many great Ppop groups 😢💔. I seen the demographic no# for just Manila and to only have very few supporters. 🙆🏻♀️❤️🔥🇺🇸
Showbiz reporters have always been rude to create click bait articles
true☹️☹️
You're learning a lot Melanie👏👏 impressive
Thank you for the support
Thanks for loving our boys
Esp our Ken/Felip❤❤🙏🏼🙏🏼 mahal ka din namin 💖
Thank you so much 🥰
Sepak Takraw is an ancient Malay sport that played by Philippines and Malaysia historically. Now it is breaking in the world stage. You gotta see him play it. You'll be amazed...Cheers!
That Korean guy is Tatang Robin, the guy who left the Korean trio group and started SBT
They performed at 1 am during the last PPopcon.. professionals.
yes , you can use '' sobra'' before or after the word. depending on your context.. '' i love you so much'' gihigugma taka'' .its so fun to watch that you are learning Filipino and other Filipino dialect.
The 1st press con still makes me teary eyed and pissed! Anyways thank you for learning more about the boys! ❤
Thank you ❤️ it’s hard to watch that part

Thanks for your reaction on sb19.😊
Make up is for the camera effect. Any TV person wear make up to change the camera effect and lighting.
Toni Talks with SB19 is a good interview to check out
Sobra before or after is okay. Same meaning. Its makes any word become superlative :)
❤they are in Philippines because the Korean company is in Philippines. They were introduce in Korea and have interview there.
Yeah sobra happy, sobra excited are correct but if you wanna do it properly you add -ng to it, so: Sobrang Happy, Sobrang Excited. Sobrang Mahal Kita isn't actually used and Mahal Kita Sobra is valid but if you want to convey the same feeling you just go Mahal Na Mahal Kita, basically mean the same thing and it's used more.
i love that is ''mahal ko yan '' mahal= love , ko= i , yan= that .
Thank you for supporting our boys!!! Salamat!
I loved that you’ve love SB19 sincerely the fact that you’re learning our language!
Thank you so much, my dear Melanie!🫶🙏🏼🌻
If you love or like a person, you can say "Mahal kita" or Gusto kita respectively. However, if you like a thing, you can say "Gusto ko yan".
(Thanks for your reaction I enjoyed it a lot❤)
you did well!!! good research!!!
Salamat po. . . Minahal mo na din ang salita namin, tagalog and bisaya... Pagpalain ka nawa ng ating Panginoon. 😅
They were all trained in the Philippines, I think they only went to South Korea for their recordings(first few songs), and all their songs were composed by Pablo...
You can put "sobra" which functions as an adverb of intensity in either ways:
In front of the adjective, but you have to add "ng" like: sobrang excited, sobrang happy, sobrang sad etc.
After the adjective and a pronoun (ako-me) "Happy ako, sobra! Excited ako, sobra!" and so on.
Thanks a lot for the RV.😘
It’s time for SB19 to shine.
Absolutely 😍
33:55 That's a shortfilm they did, I think it was called "Xmas" or "Ex-mas". You can react to it if you want. ^^
Maganda Ka sobra it's mean
Beautiful so much❤❤
this popped up on my recommendations. and wow, thats a lot of words you've learned!! you're doing well :) I speak bisaya btw, its nice to hear you learn phrases too.
(its currently my week 3 catching up on older videos etc of sb19 since i am new to this fandom, i've heard of them before but didnt bother watching any content related to them)
Aw thanks for watching! It’s so fun getting to know these boys 🥰
you got using SOBRA certainly right! you may use it before or after an adverb or adjective
Mahal kita sobra, it means I love you so much❤❤❤
Yeah you right in using sobra ☺️👌
