The Danish royal family is the dynastic family of the monarch. All members of the Danish royal family except Queen Margrethe II hold the title of Prince/Princess of Denmark. Dynastic children of the monarch and of the heir apparent are accorded the style of His/Her Royal Highness, while other members of the dynasty are addressed as His/Her Highness. The Queen is styled Her Majesty.
The Queen, her siblings and her descendants belong to the House of Glücksburg, which is a branch of the Royal House of Oldenburg. The Queen's children and male-line descendants also belong agnatically to the family de Laborde de Monpezat, and were given the concurrent title Count/Countess of Monpezat by royal decree on 30 April 2008.
The history of the crown jewels dates back to Queen Sophie Magdalene, who was married to Christian VI. In 1746, she specified in her will that her jewels should not be passed on to a specific person but should always be at the disposal of the sitting queen with the reasoning that ¨ …in this Royal House, there are so few jewels and not any crown jewels at all.¨ Sophie Magdalene’s crown jewels consisted, among other things, of diamond-set hairpins, earrings and pearl necklaces, but most of her original jewellery has been altered by succeeding queens as jewellery styles have evolved over time.
Today, the crown jewels consist primarily of four large jewellery sets, also known as garnitures: a brilliant-cut diamond set, an emerald set, a pearl-ruby set and a rose-cut diamond set. The garnitures all consist of necklaces, earrings and brooches, and one of them includes a diadem. The jewellery sets can be divided up so that individual pieces can be combined in different ways.

The Midnight Tiara & Emerald Tiara are my favorites! I read somewhere the other day that the Dutch Royals are one of very few (if not, the only) royal families that wear their jewelry that is kept on display when not in use. I wish the British royals would do that. Queen Victoria's tiaras on display are too beautiful to not be worn.
Queen Margarethe wears the most understated clothes and her jewellery is absolutely amazing too.

Not only that but it suits the Queen beautifully with her lovely white hair. Whenever I saw her wear it, I never could take my eyes off of it. I would love to wear a copy of that, since my own hair is grey now 😄

Since the death of Queen Elizabeth II of the UK, Queen Margarethe of Denmark has truly become "Europe's Queen." Keep an eye on this remarkable monarch. She already has a great life history. (QEII would call her "Daisy" in private. They were good friends. And Margarethe speaks 5 languages including English. Brilliant woman.) 🇩🇰

The "Floral Aigrette" tiara is so beautiful. The way it can be placed at different angles makes it the "MOST" wearable tiara/aigrette around. It is flexible and when Queen Margarethe puts her hair up it surrounds her hair as no other tiara can. This is my favorite of all (European royals). I think Queen Margarethe is a stunning lady! Very artistic, intelligent and warm, she seems very approachable not like the standoffish Catherine Princess of Wales. I cannot get over how warm and loving the Danish royals are when you see them around each other. They radiate warmth and happiness which cannot be faked! I'm sure those who want the monarchy are very proud of their Queen and CP Frederick, Mary and their children!! Great family!!
I ABSOLUTELY agree with you, this family does seem warm, and approachable. Not stiff and stoic like in the U.K. And I love the QUEEN, smiling, and wearing beautiful clothes that are beautiful colors as well. The QUEEN even wears RED nail polish. LOVE IT.

I've been watching documentaries on royal jewelry with tiaras my main interest. The Danish collection is by far the most creative and visually appealing.
Then you shoud watch the documentary called "Scandinavian royal jewelery" here on youtube. But did you know, that most of the tiaras in Denmark actually came from Sweden many years ago now?
@@LouiseAndersen1991 Danish and Swedish monarchies were/are interconnected by wars and marriages since the 15th Century - so yeah, the tiaras probably came with the Swedish princesses marrying Danish monarchs/princes.
I’m glad you enjoyed this collection. Wasn’t the most appealing to me but I respected two designs for their creativity.
Personally I prefer the Dutch royal family’s collection.

The ruby diamond set ended up in Denmark, because Lovisa's grandmother believed "the Danish colors (red and white) should go to Denmark". It has since only been worn by future Queens of Denmark, except Queen Margrethe. Queen Ingrid testamented it to Crown Prince Frederik for him to give to his future wife and that is how Crown Princess Mary now has it.
Formally the crown prince still owns it. It is not to leave the royal family in case of a divorce.

Andrew, this was a magnificent collection of tiaras, especially whilst including my favourite royal in Crown Princess Mary of Denmark. Australia may have lost her from our shores but what an addition she has made to the Danish Royal Family. The moment you showed the Midnight Tiara, I saw the connection to Australia immediately. The Ruby Parure Tiara has always been a favourite of mine and looks stunning on Mary. I just love the design of the entire Suite and the history that is behind this. I'm still missing hearing your voice and hold out hope that you will narrate your videos yourself once again. Hope you're doing better over there and things have quieted down somewhat, despite this Pandemic being far from over. It's been a long, hard road back to some semblance of health and I'm still battling now. Believe it or not, I haven't been as vocal as usual but look forward to changing this in future. In Hellenic🇬🇷 we say διάδημα / diádima which is diadem in English.
The term crown also derives from the Hellenic🇬🇷 κορώνα / koròna which means crown 👑

Actualy the scandinavian royal familys are quite close in relations mostly thru marriges,the norwigan royal family also got a hold of some when crown princess Martha escaped to sweeden as first part of the jurney to america her family gave her some jewles to pawn if nessery however she never did a d brought them home snd it stayed in the family since,as for the danish they had some jewles befor that is not sweedish connected and most of the sweedish connected are connected closely to Napoleon 1 thru his wife Josephine.
As for my favoritt danish tiara have to be the one Mary herself got from auction and restored it is stunning

You mentioned that the word tiara is used interchangebly with the word diadem; let me explain about the difference: in continental Europe we say that that there just one single Person in the world who has the right to wear a tiara which is the pope. The Tiara is the popal triple crown, for the head jewellery of ladys is called a diadem. So, if you use in Germany the word tiara instead of diadem, it is wrong - but due to the popularity of English language, this gets more and more forgotten.

Ah, that's nothing compared with what the British plundered from their colonies of the Empire. Almost all the crown jewels came from the colonies and most of the art and artefacts in the British Museum are from the colonies too.

Hello, Yes! one of my sources of information is from the Court Jeweller in which they get there course also from Wikipedia and almost verbatim, none the less I have to give credit for their work and hope people will read more on them, and I have written them as one of my sources on the description of the video.
