What about a wide piece of elastic ( with ends sewn together ) that you could put vertically around your travel journal to help keep it closed when not in use. Love a good chonky journal 🤗💛 But I agree, it gets hard to carry especially when you got used to carrying it in a small bag with some other stuff 😁

My journals get really bulky too. I just let them get bulky and keep them shut using an elastic hair tie! 🎸
