Saw OMD 1978 in Sheffield LIMIT club. Where did the time go !!!
I'm old now and still loving OMD.
Remember Sheffield's Limit very well! Shame it had to go :o(
OMD still has the magic touch on their keyboard. And all their thoughts in their head. makes this
a super nostalgic feeling song even on your 1st listening. although a good friend introduced it to me several yearss ago.
40 years...and it's always amazing !
Herve Chabot weren't they founded in 1979? So it must be 38 years..and from 1996 til 2005 they dont exist..
The synth is the chorus . . . Love it!
The visual effect is absolutely out of this world! I could watch this for hours. The accompanying song is equally beautiful, I love this melody.
Gives me a headache but good song
I think as a by-product the effect of the video gave prominence to the music as it separated it from the band.
Rachel, do you know Robbie? he sent me this song a long time ago. And did you graduate from Wilcox HS in Santa Clara? if you are not Robbie's wife please disregard everything i so typed. say "konnichiwa" to Robbie for me. ☮️🖖🎶
@@jeffjohnson8624 sorry, nope. I don't know any Robbie except for Robby the Robot from Forbidden Planet. And no, I never lived in Santa Clara nor gone to any school in that area. I wish you the best in finding the correct ''Rachel''.
dlatego ten szok będę oglądać setki razy. Dzisiaj 1.
Perfection definitely has a name when it comes to electronic music and it goes by Orchestral Manoeuvres in The Dark!
this is actually the ultimate example of the perfect wedding between Paul and Andy's creative genius, once it was initially supposed to be only a two minute piece wrote by Andy in the same vein of Atomic Ranch, but then Paul came up with that infectious synth-driven track and Andy was like "Oh my God, now I'm gonna have to make it into a proper song, and what the hell do you write about Isotype??"
Feels like 1982; and that's a good thing.
Glad brain swells have stopped how many have we lost from gulf war ex poser so far.
no pain no game. Iam Not letting it beat me great hooray cheers thanks to biological MRN therapy
More like 1977.
yeah man, this is our real future
@@maciektrybuszewski9964 God no, synth music didn't appear properly 'til the 80s! The 70s SOOO bleeding wishes!
Far out, man. Music is the time machine for me. 🎶☮️
Lately I'm back on OMD. Back in the days wasn't their nr 1 fan, now all these years later I love them. They were brilliant.
Absolutely adorable, brilliant, emotive, melodic, nostalgic, passionate... Oh My God... This OMD...
AWESOME brand new song from OMD... what a masterpiece... so melodic... frenetic... powerful... energetic... what a sound for my body ... so... good vibes...
In Vegas last week i was wearing one of many OMD t-shirts of mine. People from far would yell Orchestral Maneuvers in the Dark. People who know, know!!
Utterly brilliant. I have had this on repeat for ages now, very loudly, through headphones. OMD at their very best!
So glad you can rely on omd for excellence still after all these years
Never heard an Album, that sounds like Kraftwerk by not being Kraftwerk. I love it
Fuck kraftjerks. All they do is turn the machines on. It's proper acts that give it the far better lyrics, words, voices and structure, soul and life.
Kraftwerk suks
Saw them play live in Orlando last night! Fantastic show! This song was a highlight to be sure
Must have been brilliant for you!
Crisp, seamless, and definitely Electronic....me goes 'Hark' ! Thx. OMD
Absolutely love this ❤❤❤! OMD, your music has stood the test of time…. And will always remain in my mind & ❤️. I’m 64 years & followed you guys since listening “Messages” all those years ago, and…. I haven’t looked back …❤👍🏾
Simply fantastic
production,melody,lyrics,just perfect.
This is brilliant. Thank you OMD for bringing a refreshing new synth tune with a true heritage. Excellent.
Beautiful classic-sounding OMD! And this video is hypnotic, loving the visuals! Can't wait for the album... I have enjoyed collecting dozens of OMD albums and singles on vinyl and CD from the range of UK and foreign issues.
A great band with a unique and rich sound. OMD never pushed for massive fame and fortune, marketing was always modest, labels were always small and usually indie. Yet their role in British music is under-rated and deserves serious attention from anyone looking for a band that always tries to remain fresh without breaking far from tradition... a couple of weak albums in the 80s - but never so disappointing that you lose faith in what they were trying to acheive. By remaining experimental OMD never has to worry too much about disappointing its core fanbase, it doesn't have a singular sound, it blends genres, ideas and concepts and pumps out interesting and splendid results.
Anyone who hasn't heard classic OMD, I recommend you find a copy of "The Best of" compilation album which covers upto 1988, then, when you're familiar with their best known hits, dip into any of their 12 studio albums to date and you're guaranteed to find something appealing.
First recognized this Song on the ins Souvenir Tour. And it become one of my favorite tracks. Its such a great Game with the Sounds and Andys voice fits perfect
I'm a teenager now and I've grown up listening to OMD... loved English Electric album. I didn't think they would carry on making new music after that. This is amazing, can they really create a bad song?
After all these years I certainly think not.
Love it!! ❤️
Although I still think Junk Culture on vinyl is the best... just saying. ;)
Yes... Pulse!
Mischa Moo
'sugar tax' and 'architecture and morality' actually are more complete than junk culture...please listen to my suggestions...i totally respect that you're only a teenager listening to OMD. im 42, and I have an amazing catalogue of music stored in my brain. when you get older you will notice that your musical tastes will branch out, not necessarily change.
Michael Gass Without sounding like an "angsty teen" I do like those songs and I've been brought up listening the band. Although I do like those songs my personal favourite album is Junk Culture. But I can understand why you mentioned those songs as they are good.
But I guess we'll have to wait till the new album to come out!
I have those on cd
Catchy as ever, can hear the Kraftwerk influence
I was thinking "Jarre"
"Isotypeee...." / "Autobaaahn"
that makes two of us!
Oh yes. Very reminiscent of Kraftwerk's "Neon Lights". And a lot of old-school electronic music instrumentation and techniques here -- analog synth patches, vocoders, and hocketing, to name a few.
in this german interview they told, that they use mostly computers nowadays, beacuse the old synths broke that often ;-)
www.nordbuzz.de/lifestyle/musik/omd-gruender-mccluskey-synth-pop-ikone-interview-8616645.html
there are a lot of reminiscent sounds, but I think, it might be made 100% with the computer... :-)
Neon lights
Shimmering neon lights
And at the fall of night
This city's made of lights… ❤❤❤❤ 👍👍😊😊😊👌
My exact thought upon hearing this brilliant track😊
Welcome to the new Kraftwerk album, solely performed by OMD
Don't be so harsh. Omd were always inspired by the big German space machine.
I guess you haven't heard their album Dazzle Ships then?!
😂 this is almost spot on for their most recent work. Their 80s sound was more nuanced and sublime compared to the more inferior and robotic sound of kraftwerk
Y a mí eso me encanta ❤❤❤
This music will be played in heaven. Wait for the album.
Solo OMD puede componer esta inefable belleza de musica. Gracias OMD
Very nice! Looking forward to the whole album :)
I am listening to this in 2020 and it's still great. Wink*
Don't know why it brings tears to my eyes
me too
Maybe because it has the most beautiful melody on earth.
Maybe because it speaks to something about our atomised age. Whatever the case there's a palpable sense of pathos.
@@kingjulien8699 cos you love it,
💓Moi aussi
Probably the best song they've done. Good video as well.
after a few dozen listens, i have to say, this song is incredible. i can't wait for the LP 🙌🏼
Fantastic Tune !!!!!
The Wirral masters have done it again! I think that they have finally found their Kraftwerk-esque form.
No words...
Sweet electronic memories in 2017!
THANK YOU!
Living legends. Like old friends from my youth. Have these guys been knighted yet? Or inducted into the Electronic Music Hall of Fame? (if there is one. If not, there should be, just for them. ... and Kraftwerk :) By the way, Kraftwerk have been called the Beatles of Electronica. If so, then these guys are the Rolling Stones of it. :D
Bob Dobalina couldn't agree more with you!
That's a great track & that video is really mesmerising!
This is call MUSIC mr biber n co.!!!
I work with a former guitarist (great guitarist) from the human league and rib him everyday he should have been in OMD 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
OMD BACK TO THEIR BEST, GREAT TRACK - VERY CATCHY
While listening to this song I suddenly realised that I really love OMD.
What I'm trying to say is that I always liked their songs. I do. I don't know a song by them that I don't like.
But now I realised HOW MUCH I love OMD.
I love this soundtrack , this is very nice and fantastic.
I back on the time !!!!!!!
Most excellent. Love this song! Makes my feet happy. Fingers are tapping. Smile appears. Head bobbing to music. OMD, two thumbs up. :-)
THIS IS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING
Finally saw OMD at the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver this year. Dream fulfilled.
You're lucky. That's my dream concert. The best band in the world at the best venue in the world, but I'm living abroad. I miss the Commodore.
Bravo O.M.D.
beautiful ! one of my favourite bands of all the time is alive and fresh again !!
So So good. Perfect synth, voice and lyrics. Please come again to Portugal. Loved your concert in Porto
We love you OMD :)
Really think this stands a good chance of charting well. Brilliant
Now they are showing off.
Next move for me is to book tickets for the upcoming tour.
See you all there.
LOVE IT! WE LOVE YOU OMD!!!
This guys are 80s Legends!!!
O.M.G. ...Can't believe this is O.M.D. ... LOVE IT
Despite so many music artists citing the need for change which cause them to lose their defining identity many years later ... OMD never lost their unique sound all these years, albums after albums, always fresh and exploring new directions yet never losing a sense of who they are, always retaining a strong sense of their uniqueness ...
Thats the kind of growth fans love, its why fans will always stick around for their next output ...
Perfect.
Excelente ....... !!!!!
OMD ist back, so cool what an amazing Song ,OMD We Love You
Che bellissima questa canzone
Very Kraftwerk/Karl Bartos influenced.Great stuff!
Dang it, this is a fucking nice song, and I am an asshole when it comes to new songs by 80's bands.
i don't see them as an 80's band, i think they're completely tuned for the present. i see them as OMD version 2.0
This so much, OMG someone gets it!
JK FRUIT LOL

Brilliant, can't wait for the UK tour in November 🤖
This is great ART.
This could be projected on a wall of a darkened room in the Tate Modern. And it is made to play in a constant loop.
