My wife bought me one for my Birthday last June. The Guitar looks and sounds amazing. I just have to change the strings and replace the bridge pins with bone pins. I know I can never make it sound as good as Delvin's but, I'll try my best! Great playing man! 💘
Man....I could listen to you do that Tony Rice stuff all the time. Just beautiful playing. That guitar has such a awesome tone with your great playing....it just sings.
And a few months in they get even better and better sounding when they settle down and break in. Takes the crispness away... I have one too and love it. I also have many good guitars to compare to. Great review.
I"m back again too. Delvin, I've watched enough of your videos to know you can make ukulele sound like a grand piano, but that guitar has the sweetest tone....to my ears. Awesome playing.
Thanks for the compliment, although I’m not a very good player it’s really just smoke screen and mirrors. I wish I were a better player with the likes Trey Hensley, Jake Workman, Tony Rice. Etc, but I’ve never had that kind of ability and I’ve tried all my life too be a player of that caliber and I’m just not one of those guys, but I greatly appreciate the compliment and thanks for watching 👍
Wonderful to hear you play Delvin, and what a blessing it is to be able to sit down with you and share some music, even if it’s just for 10 minutes - Jon
FINALLY!!! someone who will actually play the dang thang... I've watched 3 or 4 Epiphone videos this morning and lots of "it's not a Gibson though it's 'inspired by Gibson" commentary, then they play like they are starting module 2 of any online guitar course. I just saw this beautiful Hummingbird Studio in a Trans Ebony finish on SW this morning and was looking for "new" videos of the Epiphones to hear how they sound. I had/have (my son has it now, but it's stored in his old bedroom in my house smh) an Epiphone Masterbilt that I love. It always played great, sounded great... only issue I had was i got a lot of feedback from the E-sonic2 (Shadow) electronics when I played in church. It seems they have gone to Fishman electronics which is probably better than what i had. Anyway... Beautiful playing brother.. it has a fantastic resonant sound and when played right, sounds so smooth and fluid as a guitar should. Thanks for a great video!
You know, it's a treat to hear you just play bits and pieces of tunes or just play chords. You can get amazing sounds from a guitar. I sure love your videos! I never listen to your videos just one time.... Thanks for posting.
Hey Delvin...My Epiphone Inspired by Gibson Hummingbird arrived yesterday, and I couldn't believe the quality of that guitar for the price (I got a super deal). What a great guitar. You sure know how to show it off. I'm still waiting for the "Talking Guitar" video where you talk about when you first started learning to play and what your first guitars were.
Nice guitar good playing I have also Epiphone SG epi 335 and a casino all inspired by Gibson there great my 335 arrived I found a hair line crack in back of the neck very slight I put some Elmer's glue on it cleaned it off went over it with a black marker came out good I didn't want to send it back and wait and wait for another one the glue worked out okay 😊
Great playing. I can hear Tony Rice’s influence in your playing. The guitar sounds fine, but I suspect you could make a ten dollar garage sale guitar sound good.
I own the 12 string version of this Hummingbird. I agree with Delvin 100 percent. For the money its an amazing Guitar. Well built great action and sound. The only negative to me is the battery is located in a pouch under the sound hole which makes changing the battery a real challenge unless you remove or really loosen the strings. Great playing Delvin
It's hard to believe a guitar in that price range has a sound that great.....of course your playing makes anything sound good, but I sure love the sound of that one.
Hi Delvin, you don't have too many guitars (shhhhh, your wife might hear you talking like that, or more importantly, my wife might hear you)! Your guitar skills are phenomenal and you did this thing the justice it deserves. The Gibson Engineering team drew up the plans for this reproduction and did allow Epiphone to do what they did, which was to produce a quality guitar with a Kalamazoo headstock. I like mine better than the Gibson Hummingbird, as they project sound better, in my opinion. Based off of how well you play, I'm sure you own a few Gibsons, or have in the past. I've had the Gibson J45 Standard, J45 Regal and the odd one that Gibson made, which was the J200 Parlor (only about 50 or such made), and this IBG Hummingbird is right there with them. It has a richness/depth that is just off the charts. I loved your review and wish you the best from the great state of Texas 👍.
What a difference it makes when someone can actually play and showcase the instrument.....I can understand why you like that guitar! It fits how you play and fits you well.
Geeez buddy....you're killin' it. Awesome playing. I'm back to listen again. Sometime when you're "talking guitar" tell us about when you started learning to play. I love the sound of that Hummingbird by the way.
hey delvin, I would love to hear you speak about 2 related subjects that I think you might be able to shed some light on - advanced rhythm guitar. There isn't as much out there about Tony's rhythm playing compared to his lead and I think its almost more important than the incredible solos and licks! First is right hand chord rhythm, specifically that syncopated, stuttering style that Tony was famous for. Im intrigued by the "non standard" bluegrass rhythm stuff - like the way you double up on the bass and then hit the top strings, emphasise certain strokes at the end of a bar almost like a drum fill, or throw in cross picking and syncopated bass runs to create variation. Secondly, and related is the way Tony used jazzy chord inversions along with these rhythmic tricks to create even more variation, comping up the neck while anticipating the melody in the bass - almost like a bebop/western swing/gypsy jazz guitarist. Always appreciate your videos and continuing to learn so much from them! Thanks
WHY do you only have 998 subscribers? It should be in the thousands! I love when you hit some of that Tony Rice stuff....well and everything else too! I still wish you're talk sometime about when you started playing guitar.
Buddy I appreciate your nice comments, their are so many good guitar players out there I guess mediocre players like me aren’t a hot item, but that’s ok I’m not trying to compete with anyone just having fun but I really do appreciate you and I’ll try to do a video soon and maybe talk a little bit about how I got started 👍
I couldn't agree more. I've found that my Masterbuilt series and Inspired by Gibson series guitars are all very well made and great sounding guitars. I never say they sound exactly like the Gibson counterpart (for the Inspired by Gibson) but they still sound great. I actually just reviewed the Masterbuilt Texan, on my channel, and compared to my 65 Texan. The biggest difference in sound, in my opinion, is mostly due to the fact that my 65 Texan is so old and has way, way more playing in it. Great video.
Beautiful playing Delvin! I want to go to your concert. I'm in Southern West Virginia, so not too far away. With some of your playing, it's not hard to tell Tony Rice is your hero! I kept hoping you'd break into Wayfaring Stranger!

But I’ve had Gibsons and Martins the last 15 years which can leave a man pretty spoiled. But I gotta say Epiphone really knocked these out of the park for the money. The quality and sound is fantastic! Basically same guitar as the Gibson accept it doesn’t have the made in USA labor cost on it which is what makes the Gibsons cost more
