Isnt that wrong? He figured as a kid that there is no hero he needs to wait, and prepared to take matters in his own hands (killing his father). There is no development in Askeladd's character, there's just fleshing of it in these 24 episodes

He didn’t see Askeladd as a father in that scene. He felt he had lost his reason for living, it’s only once he goes to the farm that he feels Askeladd was a father to him
Askladd's story has ended. Thorfinn's story has just begun. Also, if you are looking for something new to watch on the channel, I would recommend Trigun (1998). It's really a masterpiece but criminally under the radar.

The first season is a prologue (Part 1) to show how Thorfinn's early childhood in Iceland & his time with Askeladd's crew will affect his life as an adult in the next 3 parts of the story. Vinland Saga was always planned to be a coming-of-age, adventure drama. Part 1 of the story led many people to believe that this will be a battle anime, so that's why you see some people saying stuff like "season 2 is gonna suck lul". Don't listen to them. Those are just the kind of people who only like stuff like Naruto, DBZ, etc. Season 2 will be amazing just like the first season.

I know you've been done with the show for a while, but to prevent spoilers for future seasons I suggest avoiding reading up on actual history around this time. Many characters are based of historical figures with canon lives that can heavily spoil the direction the show goes. Love your reactions 💗!

I would suggest reading the manga but we might get a second season so you might want to avoid the manga to avoid season 2 spoilers but man is it a good manga. Askeladd is easily the star of season 1. I'd even go so far as to say he is easily one of the more complex and well written characters in all media (anime, manga, books ect). I know you both are busy but you should rewatch the series on your own and see what you think of various scenes now knowing the full story behind these characters. Specific scenes now with full context REALLY carry more weight behind them. its also CRAZY seeing how much character glow each person goes thru. Look at Canute when we first met him vs the end of the show.

Thors reaised a kid that wouldn't stab a person while sleeping, you can clearly know by the dreams of Thorfinn in some caps that thors always spend time with him, taught him a lot of lessons, gave him love (that's why he was so attached to his father) and played with him (we see in a dream Thors use to carry him on shoulders), he was probably an amazing father

oh easily. For a first season its my favorite with Beastars being second. For a continuation of a season AOT S3 P2 was amazing.
