I have personally saved two people with Rhino Rescue TQ's and bandages. Both had severed brachial arteries and both had almost bled out. One guy lost the knife fight and one drunk fell face first through a window. I work for a smaller sized PD and buy my own kit, they do reimburse me when i use it but I bear the upfront cost and expired equipment replacement. Rhino Rescue gear is pretty good.

Go to tractor supply. Get the coflex for horses. Cut the roll in half and put some in the kit. I use codlex and gauze all the time. Good for cuts. Burns and sprains.

I personally have this one and I can say for the price there’s no better budget IFAK. All the components inside are great for just starting out or even if you just want a budget kit. The only thing I added to this kit was a CAT TQ and athletic tape. I kept everything else but I only added those 2

QuickClot Clotting Gauze both 4 and 6 inch. OLEAS bandages are better than Israeli.
At that point I'd rather just build my own.

Interestingly, I was able to use my Health Savings Account from work to buy the Rhino. I almost bought the Everlit, but it wasn’t HSA eligible.

Good review. I recommend Leukotape. Goes on even when wet and stays. You should open and stage your TQ and practice. I keep some frequently used items in the kit so I open it often enough to know where and what is in there. Over time you tend to forget.

Tape that lube to the NPA cuz you don't want to have to be digging around looking for it if you need it, definitely buy American if at all possible but this would be way better than nothing thats for sure. Also get proper training to use these tools, usually "demonstration" is not enough lol. However it is for the purposes of showing the kit 👍.

Might want research the Israeli bandage again. That isn't the correct way to use it. After running the bandage through the plastic clip, you switch directions of the wrap which tilts the clip, applying pressure to the wound. Otherwise a great video!

Yep. Also regarding the tourniquet you want it as tight as it takes to stop the bleeding. The reason for second is if the first hasn't stopped the bleeding. Just apply a second. You're not worried about tightness of the tourniquet causing cell death. There is going to be rhabdomyolysis regardless but if you've got time to worry about that you probably don't need the tourniquet.

      Technically, yes, but with caveats.
      1. It must be water-based lubricant as oil based could erode the material of the OPA.
      2. Needs to be a latex-free 'donor'. Finding out your patient has a serious allergy when their airway is already compromised isn't good.
My advice? Just get a pack of KY sachets and keep them with the airways.

I'd really like to get your opinion of their vented chest seals. You'd have to rip one of them open for that but I'm looking at these to re stock some of mine which may be expired and I carry a large, "mass casualty" pack in my car that needs to be re stocked; not that I've had to use them but I just want to make sure long term exposure to heat hasn't destroyed the contents.

as long as it slops blood flow to an extremity it's okay to use. Try not to get caught up with brand names or certifications. You can make a good TQ out of a T-shirt and a stick that will provide plenty of pressure until higher medical can arrive. You may have to put more than one on at some point, but that is the same with every kind of TQ.

    Hypothetical question:
If you are hiking or hunting and you are way far away from civilization... like a week or something. And if there is an accident where you have to use the Israeli bandage to control a bleeding wound. When you are hiking back to civilization and need to check or clean the wound. After removal of the Isreali bandage, is it ok to re apply it if you only brought 1? If it's not ok to re apply in an extreme emergency only, should you pack 2 of them? Or would it be better to maybe just pack 1 bandage, but bring a bottle of peroxide or alcohol to drench/sterilize the bandage before re application? The extra bottle of sterilizer could come in more handy than an exta bandage if you are trying to keep your backpack as light as possible.

    • @pauforcadellcampos4452
      @pauforcadellcampos4452 Рік тому +3

If you need to apply an Israeli bandage, by the time it is saturated you should be in the hospital or on your way to it by helicopter. Israeli dressings are used for serious, often life-threatening cuts such as serious venous bleeding or arterial bleeding. You are not just applying an Israeli dressing and continuing on with your hunting trip.
