    love the columns, we always mix up 5" & 11" on ours, never thought of using 260Q instead of nylon.

      @BalloonMarket  7 років тому +2

      Hi Chas, glad you liked them.
      I've never seen the alternate 5" & 11" before making this video but it is a striking effect. Mark uses a 260Q to tie just about anything! It's softer on the balloons and keeps them tightly packed together.

    Hi thanks for getting back to me, I've got a problem, I've been practising doing the flat pack column but I must be doing something wrong, when I put the 5 inch on they don't seem to fit properly it pushes the big ones apart ,when I add the others they don't fit snug either and again you can see the pole.
    I'm using a stand which is the cheap plastic ones at the moment till I get the not stands ,the pole is about the size of a ten pence piece could the pole be to big. I've tried everything help help help regards Dina

    Hi Greg and Mark.
    Thank you for another great video, they are addictive!
    Always full of tips to work smarter with fab results!
    Your question of the week was about our favourite balloon columns...
    I'll try adding a picture of a crazy balloon column that I made which I absolutely love.
    So much so that I stripped all of the old signage off my van, had my balloon column printed onto vinyl and redesigned the whole van with bright new picture graphics and text.
    No only that....I did the whole job myself after watching You Tube tutorials and saved a small fortune!
    Lol, very satisfying :)
    Thank you so much for your videos - I'm an avid fan!

      Hi Annette.
      Glad you liked the videos and happy to hear that they help!
      Your images look great!
      I see you used the alternative square pack design! Very nice.
      Out of interest, who do you watch for balloon tips on UA-cam?
      Besides the Greg & Mark show :P

      Obviously you're my favourite UA-cam channel for balloon tips and inspiration which I look forward to every week!
      But if I have an idea or need a little confidence with techniques or mechanics for designs that I haven't tried before then I search UA-cam. As we all know it's a brilliant source of information for everything imaginable, 24/7 free of charge!

      The lamps we have say "silver floor uplighter" on the box and I believe they are these: www.argos.co.uk/product/4311410
      They also do them singularly for £6. Bargain!

    Hi, am I correct in thinking the toppers are helium filled? Can I ask why helium and not air?
    Many thanks :)

    • @BalloonMarket
      @BalloonMarket  6 років тому +4

      Hi Sian, you are correct the toppers are filled with helium!
      The reason being that they pull the column upright making it more stable. You could fill the topper with air but you may find the design will fall over very easily and the topper might even lean to one side.
      Hope this helps!

  • @ilive46
    @ilive46 6 років тому

    To take them to a site, do you bag the whole column with the stand?

    • @BalloonMarket
      @BalloonMarket  6 років тому

      You can do that if you have a large vehicle. It might be easier to take the clusters in bags and assemble on-site. Usually the stands will collapse down so you can transport them easier.

    How long in advance can you make a air filled column up? I have an event this weekend and don't know when to start making them

    • @BalloonMarket
      @BalloonMarket  Рік тому +1

      Hi Margaret, thanks for your comment! You can prepare air-filled displays a couple of days in advance. The only issue you could encounter by doing this is oxidisation of the latex; you can avoid this by bagging your display. I hope this helps!

    Any suggestions or direction to where I can purchase those bases mentioned in the video (also the larger square base and poles) in the US? Or at least somewhere than ships to the US. I’m trying to invest in something better than the amazon plastic base and pole?

    • @BalloonMarket
      @BalloonMarket  4 роки тому

      Hi Shakehh! You can purchase a 'Not Lamp' from IKEA which is perfect as the smaller column stand. The larger square base and pole is know as the 'Aeropole System Kit' which is available to purchase in America :)

      Hi Tracey. They are from Argos in the UK. Most people use a lamp similar to this from Ikea. The one from Ikea is called 'Not'. www.ikea.com/gb/en/products/lighting/floor-lamps/not-floor-uplighter-black-white-art-50139877/ I'm sure there are other lamps similar from other stores. I hope this helps.

      Hi Farahnaz - If you mean the long, skinny ones, they are called 260Q balloons. They are the type used for modelling. Hope this helps. www.balloonmarket.co.uk/latex-balloons/entertainer-decor/260q-entertainer-balloons?zenid=5b2ae5f95adbcca3c02784554a91d644

    I get confused when purchasing qua latex balloons. I always in up with the transparent balloons no matter what color I buy. Even when buying the 260 and 160 balloons. How can I tell if I am buy the right balloons?

    • @BalloonMarket
      @BalloonMarket  7 років тому

      Hi Mscreative47.
      The Qualatex balloons that have Jewel in their name will be transparent. If you are after solid colour balloons then you want either the Standard, Fashion or Pearl colours. (Pearl being a metallic finish).
      Check out our balloon basics video on different finishes! ua-cam.com/video/roS_n32hu04/v-deo.html
      Hope this helps!

      Blowing up foil or deco balloons should all the wrinkles be gone? Is foil and Mylar the same thing? Should all the wrinkles be gone

    • @BalloonMarket
      @BalloonMarket  7 років тому +2

      Bubble balloons (including Deco Bubbles) are made from a stretchy plastic material that you inflate until the creases disappear.
      Mylar Balloons and Foil balloons are the same thing yes. Mylar is a form of plastic resin, this is then coated with metal foil to form the material to make balloons! Different people just call them different things.
      Foil balloons are designed to have creases in when they are fully inflated. This leaves room for the gas inside to expand, if the balloon is exposed to changes in temperature. The foil material doesn't stretch so if you inflate until the creases are gone, expanding gas in the balloon will cause it to burst.
      Take a look at our balloon basics video on inflating foils for more information: ua-cam.com/video/cfEfwbAVP_U/v-deo.html
      Hope this helps!
