snif snif... I
@@sophiest-claire1622 I also want that tent but some of us limit our social media exposure for good reasons = no free durston tent 😢
I want that tent!
dang it! I don't Instagram.....
I want that tent.... but who doesn't? 😅
Dan ... as a four or five trips per year hiker - I am far from expert; and so have a passing interest in this field - but have to say, you come across as one of the most genuine, authentic and knowledgable people on the UA-cams. Love your work. And thank you.
"I want that tent!"
That was really cool to hear from Dan himself on why he made the different design choices he made. A LOT of thought went into this. SUPER fun video! This actually might be a fun idea to do with other gear too. Well played Dan, well played.
I want that tent!!
It's so cool to see the ingenuity of an experienced backpacker turned into such a well thought out tent!
"I want that tent"
Great interview and inspiration! It's nice knowing there are companies out there who are willing to listen to their customer base and make thoughtful changes to their products accordingly.
I want that tent. Awesome video, very tuned into what backpackers really care about. And super cool tent. I’ve started loving single walls, especially being a gram-weenie. Light gear like this keeps me on the trail and feeling younger than I am. Cheers from another Dan B.
"I want that tent!"
Really appreciated hearing the interview with Dan (and you, Dan) as you walked through the layout of the tent together. :)
“I want that tent!”
Been drooling over the Durstongear tents for a while now. As a tall guy, I love the extra space you get with the “tilted” floor shape!
“I want that tent!” (gotta have the quotation marks, no?)
As someone who designs tents and tarps, too, and as a former architect who loves the whole thought process behind shelters and structures, this was fascinating to listen to. As with any design of anything, one tweak here affects the outcome of another tweak there, and real-world experience always shows up strengths and weaknesses. Listening to how the tent came together reminded me of why I like designing things so much. I doubt that the chance of winning the tent will come to anything, but, just listening to the interchange was worth it! Thanks!
Dan Becker… Is the above reply to me for real? Or is someone trying to get me to release private information?
@@laughing-knees Be careful, I don't think this is real. The drawing is on the 20th.
@@TamNguyen-dv7hu Thanks. Yes, I figured there was something fishy when they asked me for my name and home address, even though the drawing hadn’t started yet. I deleted all correspondence.
Dan, someone is impersonating you here in the comments, a scammer. Everyone here should be warned.
Ah, glad I saw this, I received one also about being "shortlisted."
@@laughing-knees Plus, several people got the same reply
Using this tent on my thru hike attempt next year on the at!
'I want that tent'
Loved the video! As a military member who is getting into backpacking on a budget your videos have helped me decide what to buy for basically all of my gear, I really appreciate it. I also noticed that a lot of people are putting "I want that tent!" which is from the video but if they were keen enough to read the description they would see that it actually says something different (single apostrophe oppose to quotation marks) in what I will call the "official" rules. ;)
I want that tent!!!
It was cool getting to hear from him on why he designed it the way he did. Always love the intricacies of design!
‘I want that tent’
Dan, this was a great video. It’s really nice to get into the design thoughts and processes involved with products. The pitch angle explanation was really intriguing. I recently took an interest in bushcraft and wild camping, and have been practicing out in my back yard (little literally sleeping out in tarp tents) since last Feb. I want to get my skills and system(s) down before I actually head out next year for the real thing. As a result, I have developed some of my own concepts and modifications to tarp shelters along the way. In fact, after I saw you introduce this tent for the first time on the trail with your friend who had one… I actually modified my sleep system inside a hexamid pitch, and sleep on an angle to avoid the poles on each end!! I thought.. well, “I’ll never be able to afford one of those… so hmmm.. let me try something..” And it worked! 😁 So, yeah ‘I want that tent’ … it would be a real nice upgrade!!! Peace✌️
I want that tent!
Such a cool interview. One guy innovating an entire product category. Amazing! Way to go Dan and Dan!
Hey Dan! 'I want that tent' Dan Durston is such a cool person and I think it is awesome that y'all did this video. I love that this has become successful for him and he never set out to make money off of it in the beginning, which is probably why it is such an awesome tent because it was being designed from a practical and problem solving point of view.. Thanks for sharing and being awesome!
I guess I was late on this one but really liked the review and interview. Great to see new ideas coming from people in there know vs just another big tent brand product. And those magnetic flap holds are awesome.
Necessity is the mother of invention! I love that this tent was created by an actual thru Hiker. Dan, it’s OK you don’t need pockets lol But if you really do gossamer gear has a really cool attachment that you can string between your trekking poles at the top of your tent . I found it on garage grown gear can’t wait to try it out!
"I want that tent!" long live the independent dudes sticking it to the man.
I want that tent!
Did my first backpacking trip in September and loved it. Ready to add a tent to my gear and this one looks great!
"I want that tent" great video as always. Your reviews have helped me get my new gear together for getting into backing this spring. Thanks again
I want that tent! So interesting to hear about the process that goes into the design choices and rationale behind its design. Love hearing about enthusiasts that stumble upon a different career path in the pursuit of their passions. Great segment (as always) Dan!
Dan Durston will never have to work a day in his life ever again, just by doing what he loves. Talk about pay dirt 😊
‘I want that tent’
I love seeing the process take reality for this lifestyle. We all think about a million things that would work better every time we use our gear, but most of us suck it up and deal. Big respect for the initiative to be a part of the video and show your thinking to all of us! My first “backpacking” tent was my Army issue tent, which was akin to sleeping in a garbage bag (except a garbage bag would have been more waterproof). Definitely learned quick how some quality gear I need to find myself, and I always love smaller companies that are passionate about their product!
@Conor Burns How do you report scams like this guy "Text me on Telegram" ?

"I want that tent!"
Thank you for doing this review Dan! As someone who is still very new to backpacking and just getting their gear figured out, it's nice to see what is out there. For me that's in the far future since I cannot afford a tent of that calibur, but it's great info as always!
It's a great tent huh!
I like the Tarptents very much too, because they have a good line and lightweight options, at more affordable prices.
I want that tent .... soooo bad!!! It is an amazing tent, even Gen 1 was so well thought out that it takes the others by all the little improvements it has over others.
Great interview with The Durston!
I have that tent! Just getting to know how to pitch it, but so far it’s been great.
Thanks for doing this interview! Just two Dans having a laugh and talking shop - perfect. It was interesting to learn that he had planned to include pockets but ditched them at the last minute. Now I’m wondering how he’ll incorporate pockets in the next batch.
Dude let the man talk, he’s super excited to talk about his product
I want that tent! I would be so grateful to have it accompany me on my upcoming PCT thru hike.
This is also a wonderfully informative video, and you've inspired some of my other gear choices-thank you for the great content!
I want that tent!
Really great insight into the thought process behind the engineering of this tent. It was cool seeing Dan Durston in a video. Nice work!
Looks a lot like the tarp tent stratospire, have you ever had any experience with that tent? would love to see a comparison.
I'm 6'5 my wife is 5'3 the design would work perfect for us. And if I am solo the design would allow me to sleep diagonally giving me lots more room than a rectangle tent. Love it.
This is why my husband and I bought ours. Looks like an amazing option for an actual 2p tent. We just went with the regular XMid and not the pro.
“I want that tent!”
Thanks Dan for the video! I appreciate your gear enthusiasm!
I want that tent
This video summarizes the thousands of questions and comments about this tent. You really did your homework for this review Dan. Thank you for covering all of the major topics
I was so excited that I got a message from who I thought was Dan saying I had been selected as a winner only to find out, I had won some other brand of tent and then they wanted me to send money to pay for the delivery options! I believe this was a scam! I’ve never been so disappointed in my life! I sure hope that Dan sees this post so he’ll know what’s going on!
I was informed of my being shortlisted as a winner. Their trying hard to scam us
The same for me… be careful everyone! ⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️

The future of tent is yurt. You can actually buy a yurt.
I true yurt is nowhere near backpacking capable. The new portable “yurts” are a frankentipi. Innovation does come from adaption and change though 🤔

This is the best idea I saw in last 10 years - sticks for construction!!!! And material is interesting too. Very light, strong and waterproof. Definitely - I want that tent !
I want that tent!
Super cool to hear the design process / decisions
Dan, thank you for posting a thorough review of the tent and asking the questions we all want to know. One question I wish you had asses does the tent or any of Durston’s tents need a footprint when camping on gravel? I bought the X-MID 2 before the pro was available. I believe your proposition is correct, this is THE tent to buy.
Incidentally, I also bought his Katwa 40 backpack. I love, love, love it!
I WANT THAT TENT!
Thanks for all the great content you put out. Been getting geared up and ready to go hiking with my 2 young boys, and getting loads of good info from your videos so keep it up.
I want that tent, and have for awhile now, but I’m not on IG.
I tried to get one last year for the season but I missed out and ended up settling for a DupleXL because I had a long hike coming up and was on a deadline. In hindsight I wish I’d just waited for the Durston, but at least I have hands-on experience with the DupleXL now, which isn’t a bad tent by any means. Dan’s design just fixed a lot of the issues I have with it.
Enjoyed this video. Thanks to both Dans for the time and effort.
I want the tent! Cool tent, glad I watched this. That is something I could through in smaller backpack with some warmth, a water filter, and a collapsible fishing pole.
Love my 2p mid! Had to set up camp in a huge hail / rain storm first night in the Winds. Only flat area had storm flow. Basically worst case, and it did amazing! I do want the pro tent though!
"I want that tent"
thanks for the great videos and awesome information you've been providing. I've always loved hiking and for the last year i've started learning more about backpacking and even went on a backpacking trip with my friend. Throughout my research and gear purchases, so many of your videos helped me understand what gear i should get so i can enjoy and make the most of backpacking adventures. I'm also a videographer and photographer and you've inspired me to bring my camera around with me more to document these experiences. Once again thank you Dan and keep up the great work!
Ordered mine at the last restock, cannot wait for it to ship in the spring!! Had been waiting for over a year to get my hands on one!
I want that tent!
Thanks for such a useful review. I've been looking at this and the standard version and it was great to hear some of the differences like size. I also love that it is made by someone who made it for himself, a user who understand what matters.

I want that tent. This was a really great rundown of it!
I Want That Tent!!!
The design of it makes a lot of sense to me. It is how I would design one. I see it as a well designed minimalist tent. I’m not a trekking pole person but I can make an exception. Awesome video! I’m glad I found your channel.
"I want that tent!"
Sounds like an interesting design. Looking forward to trying it out.

"I want that tent!" So cool and such a great though process behind this tent!
“ I want that tent “ I’ve heard great things about this tent and I’m been researching a lighter weight tent for hiking trips . My current tent is 3lbs and I want to drop so weight and carry less pounds. Thanks for your videos I value your input and look forward to seeing your videos each week.
If you winter camp with this tent and the trekking poles are pointed down, do you have any tips for preventing the tips from sinking into the snow (even after packing the snow down)?

I want that tent!!!
Great video Dan(s). I went on a trip with someone who brought this tent and he LOVED it. Been wanting to try it for myself and add it to the rotation of the BA Tiger Wall 2 and MSR Hubba 1.
Nice to see you were able to get the guy that created the tent on a phone interview. Great advert and PSA on the delays for him as well.
I had the chance to get one in august! All were sold in just few minutes!! Amazing tent. Very light and so much space!!
I wish I had it before my HRP trek 😅
" I want that tent!!!!!!!!!!!!!! "
Great interview, and always good to see new innovation in the tent game. Never used a single wall tent. Love the weight savings, but always questioned durability and pole setup. This could be the one that retires my copper spur that's sheltered me for a few thousand miles.
Great review 👏!!! I've been looking at this tent for awhile. I guess my question is if the floor is sil nylon then if the bottom of the tent is wet. Will the tent be heavier??? I want that tent!!! Thanks Dan!!!
I want that tent!
Thanks for such a useful review. Awesome video, very tuned into what backpackers really care about. And super cool tent

Looks nice, might go for the nylon version in case I dont win, already really light at that price point...
I want that tent! Thanks to you Dans for a great video. I’m saving for one of those now to go with my Durston Kakwa 40, which is awesome!
