I absolutely LOVE watching foreigners go to this beautiful park in my country. For Dutch people it's not just a theme park, it's their entire childhood. For most Dutch families it is tradition to go here at least once a year. It's literally a place of wonders. My favorite is the Flying Dutchman ride. It's literally amazing! And I love the Efteling themeing and that there is a story behind every single ride! The guy you saw in the Efteling hotel giving a story time show was Mr. Sandman! Or as we call him: Klaas Vaak.
My childhood aswell, I live in the region as teens we always hang out there when we were bored on the picknick field (subscription) and now we are adults and have kids of our own and continue the tradition :)
@Maddie Moate i actually born and raised and grew up across the street of the old entrance (close to the hotel) ,and i learned to swim and play tennis in the park way back in the 80's.I have been to other theme parks in the world but this one is the best i have ever seen. Thank you for your joyfull and positive feedback on the park.
What has that got to do with you living in America, I mean I'm from the UK but we still get European Theme Parks advertised on TV, Radio, Magazines etc-And also because I have been too many countries on holiday as well
Raveleijn is actually a story about five children who go through a gate and after that they're adults all of a sudden and they're knights and they find themselves in a magical village but there is a villain i actually don't really know what he does but the children have to free the village from him and you probably know the rest of the story. there even is a television show about it and a book, it is written by Paul van Loon and even though it is for children it's still enjoyable for everyone

Hey there Maddie, I've noticed you mentioned that it looks like the hotel is floating. In a matter of fact in dutch it is called a "Luchtkasteel" translated into an "Aircastle". To add to this the road in front of the hotel was redesigned to make sure traffic passing by wasn't getting stuck as much as before by the traffic that does go to the themepark. And with this new design there were all clouds added on the sides of the overpasses you drove trough. Talking about themes right. I first went to the Efteling when I was 1 1/2 Years old! With my family we have been going there every year for a day until I turned 10! It is such a magical experience and I can’t wait to go back there for another week next year after my bros GCSEs! It’s a amazing I highly recommend the bosrijk houses as they are just nicer and you get bedtime stories with klaas Vaak at 6pm for young children ages 2-4 or 5 I guess!! All go you want forget!!!

Last year I took some of my British friends to the park as well and they had such an amazing time! It's so much fun to see people be amazed by something that has over time become one of my happy places that I know like the back of my hand. You have to come back! So much more to see and to cover. If you'd like to do it right, 1 day is way to less to visit everything and taste and feel everything. I was in the early of this video and only one question came up to me. Will you cover the "Haunted Castle" or "Het Spookslot"? Have you seen it and experienced it? Here is the thing: because of a gazillion reasons I've never been there anymore after the Pegasus was to be replaced. And trust me, that ride, gave me chills every time I "drove" it because it was kinda a bumpy ride, but almost at the end, there was a bent in the 90 degrees curve of the railway, I was so happy, I finished the ride, since I'm sure, gladly it didn't happen, one day the carts are going to go straight of the rails. Fortunately ist was replaced in time, but yeah, the last time I've been there. Somewhere in late spring 2016, I was bored, went for a ride, was driving towards and next to the Efteling, but since it was already in the half afternoon and wasn't really prepared for it, I turned and drove home. But yeah, O could have gone there at that time. I'm sorry now, I didn't, knowing for a lot of reasons, it was okay to skip the visit. And I'm sure, I'll visit not one day, but a few, probably during summer vacation, but I need to feel 30 degrees during the day, 20 in the evening to feel in my element. I need to be there between 10:00 in the morning and 22:00 in the evening, seeing the park all lightened, consume something to eat and drink from every single restaurant there, go in every ride/ attraction the park offers, and then ... for ... a week or so? But anyways, please come back one day. I'd love to have you compensated for that in a way, should I ask Efteling for you? Last thing: if you google on 65 jaar Efteling - De Magische Klok - Eftel on this channel, I could recommend watching it. A lot of detail given on the Haunted Caste. My favorite ride (lol, if you get me) and for me "Danse Macabre" is so addictive, the first time I got to the Efteling, I've repeated that ride several times. That felt so amazing. A quick recommendation since you loved Raveleijn (and everything else in the Efteling) so much... Just like every Dutch person has been in the Efteling at least once in their lives, just so just about everybody has grown up with the books of Tonke Dragt, celebrated Dutch children's author. Some of her books were recently translated in English; 'The Letter for the King' (chosen by the Dutch public as the best children's book of the past half-century) is about a young teen, about to be knighted, who has to make a moral choice, go on adventure, to save a neighbouring kingdom. Knights! Adventure! The sequel 'Secrets of the Wild Wood' (my favorite!) has also been translated, and where the distinction between good and evil is rather straightforward in 'the letter', in 'wild wood' shades of grey creep in, just as the protagonist grows older and grows up. A third book by Tonke, 'The Seven Ways', also recently translated, is a different genre, but still has the same 'Dutchness' and sense of fairytale you so enjoyed in the Efteling. It plays in the late fifties/early sixties and it's about a young schoolteacher who is enveigled into a plot to rescue a young boy from his nasty moneygrubbing uncle. The fun bit for a Dutch child is that it's build around several very old, very well-known Dutch nursery/counting rhymes. It might seem weird to recommend books at a vlog about the Efteling, but both the Efteling and Tonke's books are quintensentially Dutch and, in my mind, linked by a common cultural theme. Since you enjoyed the park so much, I suspect you'd enjoy her books.
I've literally just been there 2 days ago and I already want to go back there. Luckily I only live a couple hours away, well, lucky compared to you guys. But the park is just so wonderfull and just ugh... I love it so much. Even just the moment you see the entance is magical and gives me tingles and flashbacks to when I was younger.
My dad grew up near the efteling and when he was young it was famous for the fairytale forest (sprookjesbos). Back then they only had a swimming pool and the fairytale forest.

treasure track is my fav of symbolica, i was there for 4 days with my aunt, nephew, mom, grandma, sister and niece and the symbolica atraction was one of the best! we did the hero track on the first day and the treasure track on the second, droomvlucht is also really nice but really old too, fata morgana is one of the best rides, its so well made! its almost as good as the pirates of the carribean ride in disney land. ive been to the efteling since i was a kid and i nevr realised how lucky i was :)
Wow ravelijn changed a lot since a saw it. There wasn't any water or plants just sand back then. But I saw it the first year they did it. Btw you can also buy the book.

I love the Efteling. I live in the province Utrecht and I go to the Efteling twice a year. Hopefully you could come another time because in 2020 there will be a new attraction.
It's so cool to see that all these extremely old attractions still hold up! :-) I believe most of these attractions are from the 90's and did get some upgrades but are mostly in their original state, I could be a little bit off but I might be close ;-)
We've been looking at Eftling for a while, and this has pretty much sealed it! How was the drive there? Heres a reason to revisit Eftling, we'd be going in our EV, so would love see you take the e-Niro!

It's like, say, Alton Towers is not advertised in The Netherlands :-) ... but Efteling is heavily advertised with cheap ticket actions, in Germany. The marketing plan has to do with the average travel time.
In the piece of the Phython-rollercoaster there was a fragment of the rollercoaster ‘vliegende hollander/flying Dutchman’. I choice the Efteling over Disney land every time.
I love how excited you where about the Efteling, i go once a year. I live only 30 minutes from it. I wish i could experience whenever i go just like you did, as it is my first time, it’s so normal for me to go. treasure track is my fav of symbolica, i was there for 4 days with my aunt, nephew, mom, grandma, sister and niece and the symbolica atraction was one of the best! we did the hero track on the first day and the treasure track on the second, droomvlucht is also really nice but really old too, fata morgana is one of the best rides, its so well made! its almost as good as the pirates of the carribean ride in disney land. ive been to the efteling since i was a kid and i nevr realised how lucky i was :)
Wow ravelijn changed a lot since a saw it. There wasn't any water or plants just sand back then. But I saw it the first year they did it. Btw you can also buy the book.

I love the Efteling. I live in the province Utrecht and I go to the Efteling twice a year. Hopefully you could come another time because in 2020 there will be a new attraction.

It's so cool to see that all these extremely old attractions still hold up! :-) I believe most of these attractions are from the 90's and did get some upgrades but are mostly in their original state, I could be a little bit off but I might be close ;-)

It's like, say, Alton Towers is not advertised in The Netherlands :-) ... but Efteling is heavily advertised with cheap ticket actions, in Germany. The marketing plan has to do with the average travel time.
I love this, I’ve been to the efteling like 10 times and last december I stayed in the hotel for the first time. It’s wonderful!
In the piece of the Phython-rollercoaster there was a fragment of the rollercoaster ‘vliegende hollander/flying Dutchman’.

I love how excited you where about the Efteling, i go once a year. I live only 30 minutes from it.
I wish i could experience whenever i go just like you did, as it is my first time, it’s so normal for me to go. A Well, my Favorite ride is Droomvlucht, i just love floating around the fairy’s and trolls.
