One of the biggest complaints with the broadway production was that it was way too campy and over the top, almost like it was a parody of itself. I’ve always thought the show was a lot better and a lot funnier when it was played more realistically.

I think people also need to realise American and British is wayyyyyy different in terms of theatre and comedy in general, and the cast and director are gonna change some line deliveries and maybe even some lines to suit a British audience
