I used to love this show... and Goose was my favourite character! His powers were auto-adaptation, so his power would be based on giving him an ability to overcome the obstacle that is put infront of him... awesome power
yeah there should of been so they can tie up all the plot lines like queen gets her come upends and her empire collapes into nothing Zak gets the psycho crystal back and restrores his wife soul to her
You are officially my favorite person in the world. 80s cartoons...man, they were so great. I bought this DVD set a few years ago as soon as it hit the shelves! This show, Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors, Masters of the Universe, She-Ra, Inspector Gadget, The Littles, Dennis the Menace, Heathcliffe, Bionic 6, Voltron, Robotech, Visionairies, Trans-formers, G.I. Joe, Thundercats, Silverhawks, Tigersharks...all shows I constantly watch to this day! Awesome video man!
Man when I remember all the cartoons that I grew up with... He-Man, Centurions, Galaxy Rangers, Saber Rider and the Star Sheriffs, Pirates of Dark Water, Thundercats it just makes me sad I compare those with today's flash generated cartoons. On the other hand it makes me happy that I've lived and watched all those on TV every single episode and loved every single show... Those were some happy times :)
Dude Im starting to love your channel more and more. I love the animation and stories of the cartoons of the 80's/early 90's and I love how you go more in depth with the movers and shakers of the series. Never saw this one but watching your reveiw gives me the nastalgia of the time period and I will definately look into this cartoon. Also I did not know that japanese and american animators worked that closely together. I knew something was up with some american cartoons looking more like anime
Thank you so much for starting this series! I love my old school animation series and hearing the history on them, please do more of these cause theses are Awesome. I grew up in the 90s so the only 80s shows I knew about were Transformers and Thundercats.
Basically anything that played on Toonami since it was created in 97 until 2005 I have watched. There were so many good shows on there. Yu Yu Hakusho, Megas XLR, Rave Master, Rurouni Kenshin, Cardcaptors(Cardcaptor Sakura), The Big O, Samurai Jack, .hack//SIGN. And who could forget the Dragon Ball series? Many of these great shows are so underrated. And there's probably a bunch from the 80's that are awesome that I have never heard about. That kind of sucks. At least we'll have our memories
Oof, nice work. I just saw my childhood flash before my eyes. Excellent content, I remember that Goose was hands down my favourite, he had a lot of depth for an 80's cartoon
Centurion, Visionaries, Adventures of the Galaxy Rangers, Bionic Six, The Mask.. these are some of my other favourite cartoons. Other than x-men, spider-man, transformers, he-man, g.i joe, ghostbusters, etc etc
My dear fellow Wing, I hereby implore you to abstain from *picking my brain.* The other day I purchased the second DVD set to complete my collection-- no joke. Boy, that soundtrack is killer; wish I could find it legitimately. Anyway, excellent reviewing work as always. Another thumbs up!
This show looks awesome. I wish I seen this when I was a kid. My earliest memory of cartoons i watch were gotcha man, batman the animated series, hanna barbera cartoons, and Space Ghost Coast to Coast. Those were the days. (There were more, but its too much too name).
nice review / documentary. As a kid I was only able to see very few episodes of this show (it was syndicated at strange times) but I loved it because, even though I was a kid, it felt it was sort of "for more grown ups kids" unlike other cartoons at the time that felt they were for little kids.
I remember Adventures of the Galaxy Rangers! I remember it for 2 reasons. 1. I remember seeing that show on WPIX-11 back then when animation ruled regular t.v. (I was born in NYC BTW). And... 2. I remember seeing one episode back when I had those old Beta tapes, but the tape stopped at the end (it was recorded on Beta, by the way). Still, I remember that show, even Goose, with the Clint Eastwood accent. Anyway, congrats on your first cartoon-themed show. Looking foward for the next
I remember little of the old He-Man show back in the 80s, but when I saw the 2003 remake all I could think was "this is how He-Man should be." It was an awsome show. I wish they'd remake 80s shows, but most would probbly wouldn't be vary good.
Having been born in the early 90's, I didn't encounter as much 80's cartoons, but I loved Thundercats. Having older siblings really helped too. My favorite cartoon of all time would probably have to be Zoids: Chaotic Century. Even though it was based off of a toy line, it had great characters and an amazing storyline. It's hard to find good cartoons nowadays, but there are a couple diamonds in the rough. Phineas and Ferb is excellent, as was mid/early 2000's shows such as Samurai Jack, and IGPX.
The first thing I thought of when I saw the ship in the beginning was Arwing from Star Fox. But this show does look interesting and some of the animation looks amazing as if it was made in modern times.
my favorite childhood cartoon was saint seiya, sure everyone knows he-man and thundercats , but those cartoons felt fresh and new! btw hope kwife is doin better
@KuroMario25 links to where you can buy the series, is in the description. Again this show has death,murder and lots of gun violence in it. I didn't have issues watching it when I was younger, just got to let ya know. My conscious and all that jazz.
@MarkC18 most cartoons after 93 centered around being funny. There was always a few great cartoons. But the age of the decade of action,scifi,adventure and fantasy toons ended with Pirates of dark water. Also edgy shows where death and violence were common was replaced and more censored. Show like Btas,Xmen and Spiderman both suffered these cruel new laws. Thundercats on CN has a lot more wiggle room and deals with Darker stories.
@huffletuff7 80s cartoons taught life lessons Don't take to strangers, Don't do Drugs, Don't hit girls, Don't steal, Don't lie etc. 90s to cartoons today. Don't teach kids anything. There is no morality, mostly just action. Don't get me wrong I loved BTAS so very much, but it didn't really teach kids anything. Sure criminals got what was coming to them, but these were adult storylines. Every 80's show had morality shown in and the writing highlighted that lesson. Very different.
Wow! This looks awesome. Having been born in 1997 I was brought up on spiderman: tnas, x-men:tas and the incredible hulk cartoons, but I can tell that if I was around when this was being aired, then I would have loved it. lo
@Progearspec Remember when shows would get a 65 Episode season. These days, shows are considered a success, if they get a Season order of 13. Times changed alot as did Kids programming. Well if they did a remake of this show, i would shoot for Cartoon Network. I want to see Zack get his Wife back and more on Doc.
Thanks for the review. Before I watched this video, I thought the galaxy rangers meant the ones from power rangers: lost galaxy, which is one of my favorite power rangers series. I had never of this show before, and its sad that this nad many other shows got cancelled, but nonetheless, thanks a bunch for the review, I greatly appreciate it.
Awesome retrospective. Never heard of the show, but it does look pretty cool, and the music sounds like classic 80's goodness. I hope to see some more reviews like this. Gotta admit though, when I saw the title I thought it had something to do with the anti-drug special Cartoon All-Stars to the Rescue.
Actually Robotech and Voltron were also quite violent shows but they were toned down when they were brought over from Japan. Voltron (Beast King Go Lion in Japanese) is especially gory!
@TheFralinBoy more like teasing, there are I would say 25 really well made shows in the last decade. Still alot of these newer shows did not have the same type of animation that was done in the 1980's. Hundreds of shows were released until 1989, all of them every pretty awesome for the most part. All the art looked like it came from a comic book and was hand drawn. Today they could make great looking stuff, they just choose not too. I enjoy watching Phineas and Feb as well.
@crewtastic Let's aim for 200 this video and 300 for the next one...IF there is a next one. That all depends on you the fans. Feel free to share this video and get the word out too.
I loved it, my biggest issue was that here in spain it came with the south american spanish voice acting, wich were actualy pretty good compared with other shows that were not properly translated, but still sounds odd to us.
KWing I fear you know very little when it comes to more recent shows. Plenty of them have great animation, character development writing, action and voice acting. "What other shows have awesome theme introductions like this?" The Spectacular Spider-Man, Batman The Brave and The Bold, Transformers Animated and Transformers Prime, 2011 Thundercats, Avatar The Last Airbender and alike.
@kNIGHTWING01 Oh i know! UA-cam "Governator" theme song. The guys over at legolambs made that exact point and decided to do a nice parody song for the upcoming TV show. Also since i was very young back then character development didn't stick so Zachary Foxx was my favourite based on the kickass design of his biotic enhancement. I was so young i didn't even pick up on the clint eastwood thing with Goose.
@RocMegamanX the 2600 would have been bad and the NES was to young and unknown for a game. Had the series been picked up for a 2nd Season and did stuff more for marketing. A game might have been possible. Then again not many 80s shows other then Turtles got videogames,
The Adenture of the Galaxy Ranger is a great and their theme song is my favourite but there are a few things that I'm disappointed about the series before it ends forever. Original at the beginning of the series Zachary Foxx 's wife Eliza was kidnapped by the Queen of the Crown unfortunely he and his team rescued her body but Eliza's life force is in the crystal and in the hand of the Queen which sadly Eliza never rescued during the series. Which the fans of The Adenture of the Galaxy Ranger will never know. I blame the writers for that and not complete the entire story of this series.
Absolutely love this show. Also worth noting was the that the voice for Zachary Foxx was done by the incomparable Jerry Orbach.
This show was awesome, I remember watching it as a kid. I'll have to see if the DVDs are still out there. Thanks for the post.
I used to love this show... and Goose was my favourite character! His powers were auto-adaptation, so his power would be based on giving him an ability to overcome the obstacle that is put infront of him... awesome power
I been thinking about this cartoon for years
A shame no actual feature film was made.
yeah there should of been so they can tie up all the plot lines like queen gets her come upends and her empire collapes into nothing Zak gets the psycho crystal back and restrores his wife soul to her
@TheMajinTrunks
*high five* For being a real Ranger fan! Who was your favorite character?
This was way better than Bravestarr, Goose was made to look like Clint Eastwood.
This was my favourite cartoon growing up. I still think about it as a grown man.
You are officially my favorite person in the world. 80s cartoons...man, they were so great. I bought this DVD set a few years ago as soon as it hit the shelves! Have to love the 80's music xD
These kind of shows have a very unique vibe to it.
Dude Im starting to love your channel more and more. @TigerWolfSpaceMoon
Thank you =) I had a lot of fun making this.
I never heard of this but Holy Crap....this show is BAD ASS!....man we had some awesome Cartoons back in the day didn't we?
Thank you so much for starting this series! I love my old school animation series and hearing the history on them, please do more of these cause theses are Awesome. I grew up in the 90s so the only 80s shows I knew about were Transformers and Thundercats.
thanks for review of the series because this is one of the few series from the 80s i missed out on and it looks great
Why are 80's cartoons so awesome?
This is amazing! Please make a monthly series out of this, More awesome cartoons and anime!
Great job Kwing!
For a children's animated show made in 1986, this is actually a pretty impressive series.
And who could forget the Dragon Ball series? in terms of animation for shows like Transformers, there was only 1 BRILLIANTLY animated episode of that series
This show looks awesome. I wish I seen this when I was a kid. My earliest memory of cartoons i watch were gotcha man, batman the animated series, hanna barbera cartoons, and Space Ghost Coast to Coast. Those were the days. (There were more, but its too much too name).
@soridosuneku i said TMS handled the storyboard and animation, infact they are in the end credits
i remember this show, it was awesome! im not from the eighties, but i whatch it on some random syndication in the nineties and it was pure fun
Looking forward to these. Sadly I completely missed this series in the 80s.
nice review / documentary.
As a kid I was only able to see very few episodes of this show (it was syndicated at strange times) but I loved it because, even though I was a kid, it felt it was sort of "for more grown ups kids" unlike other cartoons at the time that felt they were for little kids.
I like this! It's like the Nostalgia Critic, but without all the angst and negative tone. Love it!
@TheMajinTrunks
There are a few. But even back in the day, the lamest show still had a great theme song and music.
I remember little of the old He-Man show back in the 80s, but when I saw the 2003 remake all I could think was "this is how He-Man should be." It was an awsome show. I wish they'd remake 80s shows, but most would probbly wouldn't be vary good.

Agreed, but I liked Zoids: New Century Zero even better because of Bit Cloud & Liger Zero
@NadrianATRS
Glad I was able to help.
one more thing, the voice of zachary foxx is voiced by jerry orbach, he played lenny briscoe of law and order fame.
Saint Seiya, aka Knights of the Zodiac
Interesting series man! I've never heard of this show o.o, though, when I read Galaxy Rangers I was thinking of something else XD.
Thanks for the 200 likes people. This show will get a new episode in 1 month.
I am a huge fan of 60,s and 70,s cartoons, especially hannabarbera, a lot of these, never came out officially on dvd.
If this episode gets over 200 Thumbs up! I will make another vid in April. Thanks for Watching and hope you enjoy this video.
.......how in the HELL did I fucking miss this when I was a kid? My god, this show sounds like animation bliss!
Great editimg Kwing, we appreciate your hard work!
FUN FACT:
The title of the show was translated to spanish as "Guardianes de la Galaxia", which literally means "Guardian of the Galaxy".
The music was and still is the best .
@KuroMario25
links to where you can buy the series, is in the description. Again this show has death,murder and lots of gun violence in it. I didn't have issues watching it when I was younger, just got to let ya know. My conscious and all that jazz.
@Koniassu
there are few maybe, 25 in the last decade. i count Avatar as a well made show.
TMS also animated Mighty Orbots. :D
And if you want more, Mighty Orbots is now on DVD
And TMS also did a lighter 80's cartoon set in space called Galaxy High
This show needs to return.
@MarkC18 most cartoons after 93 centered around being funny. There was always a few great cartoons. yup you got it.
I loved this show!

I had never of this show before, and its sad that this nad many other shows got cancelled, but nonetheless, thanks a bunch for the review, I greatly appreciate it.
I really hope that if someone does do a remake of this that it won't suck. I hate when that happens.
Agreed, it should have a continuation of their pursuit of the Queen of The Crown.
I'm guessing TMS's Team A was the group that put more effort into the animation, and made it look more fluid, and expressive in most of the episodes.
I'm surprised I've never heard of this cartoon before. I gotta go do a little digging through my own era.
That was great I want to see it! Suddenly I want to watch Firefly too. :)
Awesome retrospective. Never heard of the show, but it does look pretty cool, and the music sounds like classic 80's goodness. I hope to see some more reviews like this. awesome video!
Shane "Gooseman" is and will always be my favorite ranger
omg memories. the 21st century toons have no contest.
@gamegirlstarz1o17
yes 1980s through mid 90's for now
Galaxy rangers rule. Goose is the man. The 80’s rock.
More of these please , I collect old cartoons also.
Actually Robotech and Voltron were also quite violent shows but they were toned down when they were brought over from Japan. Voltron (Beast King Go Lion in Japanese) is especially gory!
@WWEANIMEFANZ
I watched it yrs ago on Adult Swim. It had to many episodes and the plot never seemed to go anywhere until a hundred episodes later.
@TheFralinBoy

that's ok, that's what im here for.
Had there been a video game made of this show, I would have played that.
This show is really cool
@crewtastic
Let's aim for 200 this video and 300 for the next one...IF there is a next one. That all depends on you the fans. Feel free to share this video and get the word out too.
I wouldnt be surprised to find out that is the real inspiration for the omnitrix and kevins metamorph powers.
I used to love watching this show but could never remember the name
@gundamzerostrike
TMS is very good and has only gotten better with time.
how about a Bionic Six review , all episodes on youtube
yes - that show worked except for the poor writing. The 1987 animation is a standout even unto 2019.
epic music!
I loved it, my biggest issue was that here in spain it came with the south american spanish voice acting, wich were actualy pretty good compared with other shows that were not properly translated, but still sounds odd to us.
Freakin' Sweet!
KWing I fear you know very little when it comes to more recent shows. Plenty of them have great animation, character development writing, action and voice acting.

The Spectacular Spider-Man, Batman The Brave and The Bold, Transformers Animated and Transformers Prime, 2011 Thundercats, Avatar The Last Airbender and alike.
oh man i remember this show! Goose was the best!
Never heard of the show but interesting video.
I totally had the toys for this show.
@kNIGHTWING01 Oh i know! UA-cam "Governator" theme song. The guys over at legolambs made that exact point and decided to do a nice parody song for the upcoming TV show.

I heard that Doc, wassupposed to have had a short, but successful, criminal career.
Yeah, Robotech just mainly edited out gory death scene, but not the fact that somebody did die
@RocMegamanX
the 2600 would have been bad and the NES was to young and unknown for a game. Had the series been picked up for a 2nd Season and did stuff more for marketing. A game might have been possible. Then again not many 80s shows other then Turtles got videogames,
0:24 haha loved that show! about baseball use to watch it every monday on funimation channel then fios took funimation channel it was a sad day
@lunarraythefox
she's doing fine and playing SSX on PS3 atm and hoping from place to place and not using here crutches!!!! X_X
@Lionsden99 I totally agree with you I may had only seen a few minuets and did'nt know what I was missing (NBC, or ABC mornings I think)
Hey, cartoons to this day are good!
Don't know how I missed this one growing up. I wonder what stations aired it in the states?
@Nexus5001
no, she needs to breath =P
All time favorite.. Goose was my favorite
i remember this i was 4 at the time.all i remember was space cowboys
You should do this about the 80s version of tmnt and a bit of the 2000's version aswell.
The Adenture of the Galaxy Ranger is a great and their theme song is my favourite but there are a few things that I'm disappointed about the series before it ends forever.
