Dandvat pranam .. Jai mind blowing lecture all glories to you dear pg.. BG 3.27 says that prakriti is the doer so how can we choose the modes pg...the modes are completely controlling ..it's like caught up on waves in the ocean ..where is the free will within the material world pg ?

First we choose the modes and then the modes choose us - we always have free will. But greater the mode, more is our capacity to choose the right action. So in the mode of goodness we have greater capacity to choose right vs wrong. The more we take association of devotees and read Srila Prabhupada’s books, we can rise to the mode of goodness and beyond

also, just remembered an example that Prabhuji gave .. like a cow tied with a 10 meter rope = person in tamo guna .. cow tied with 50 meter rope = a person in rajo guna .. but a cow left free to graze in the green pastures with no rope tied can roam wherever it likes .. that is like a person in sattva guna .. so the person in sattva guna has the power to exercise his/her free will to a greater extent
The purpose of BG 3.27 is to make us understand that the modes are very strong ..
a person in goodness - thinks and then acts
a person in passion - acts and then thinks why I did this
a person in ignorance - neither thinks nor acts
