Sorry to say but I didn't understand why you are using exam Id and even though u create a new table, total marks still depends on the type of exam right. So there still exists transitive dependency.

Oh yes, you're right. I'm sorry.
There shouldn't be exam_id.
So
Score table (score_id, stud_id, sub_id, marks, exam_name)
Exam table (exam_name, total_marks)
Now transitive dependency is removed, right?

So the other columns are dependent on only one primary key and transitive dependency is removed.

Don't you think 2nf is more restrictive than 3nf .. in 3nf we are removing all columns which are dependent on non-prime keys . But in 2nf we are removing all columns which are dependent only a part of primary key. Let's discuss more in comments please
