What should we consider when dialing in the margins on porcelain veneers? As we finish our veneer prep, it’s critical to consider the margins.
What to Consider with Preparation Margins:
➡️ Use a bur with a fine diamond tip - Dr. Hartlieb is using Brasseler bur 6847.
➡️ The angle is critical - watch the video to get a better view of this in action!
➡️ To achieve the angle, move the bur down into the contact zone, just facial to the contact margin. Change the angle of the bur as you move from the gingival margin along the distal and into the interproximal.
➡️ Check for sharp edges or corners and ensure that you have uniform reduction.
➡️ Make sure the margin is ideally placed and properly seated.
➡️ Then you’re ready to go forward and take your impression!
