I am thankful for this topic, I recently rebuilt a Mega Drive 2 and have an EverDrive cartridge with games on, Mega Drive works lovely but I am having enormous difficulty in getting it to show up on my 51 inch flat screen. Weirdly a contact said to take off the telly's metal back plate and I discovered a scart socket so waiting on a scart cable to MD2 as the socket seems viable and weird how the factory closed it off lol Also discovered an aerial socket behind there but the telly doesn't seem to work with that.
I thought about getting that RetroScaler. However, I ended up getting an OSSC add-on board that converts AV or s-video to Scart and I plug that into my ODV-GBS-C. The Retroscaler doesn't have a scanline filter but my ODV-GBS-C does.
Woah the RetroScaler 2x blows your socks off!! but my consoles apart from Wii are all HDMI, so not too much use to me yet. maybe one day I might get it, especially for old camcorders. actually something else you might look into trying to fix Kip as possibly cheap as chips now.
How weird, I was looking at this exact unit today on Aliexpress. But for my retro computers I want a VGA output for an old Dell monitor I have. Woah, the retroscaler 2 is cool! ;-)
Looking at the captured HDMI output of Super Mario Bros. 3, it looks like it's only 30fps. Is this due to your capture card or is it a limitation with the RetroScaler 2x?
You can get a add-on board for the OSSC, which can make it output composite
That’s cool! But not everyone has an OSSC
WOAH the RetroScaler 2x is COOL!!!!
👀
If you get a hdmi to vga cable you can plug the restoscaler 2x into the OSSC. Just keep the restroscaler in passthrough mode.
Woah! The Retro Scaler 2x is amazing! Value for money too :)
I love it!
Woah! The Retro Scaler 2x is amazing! Thank you for another great video Kip!

Wow! That’s crazy! Hope the Scart is active in the TV’s software
Whoa! The Retro Scaler 2x is cool!
Thanks for making a video about it, I’m gonna have to grab one.
Any time! X

Yup! That’s also a great choice. However the ossc is more expensive from the get go!
might get one of these when i get a wii.
Yeah, would recommend a component cable for Wii
You can get a Wii hdmi adapter. Very cheap.
Wow the retroscaler 2x, sega saturn. thanks Kip 😁
Any time!
7:45 umm, PS1. Now we wait lol.

You can get HDMI to VGA cables. That would probably work well with this
Any good with a commodore 64? Maybe a cheap retrotink?
I’ve seen them being used with Commodore 64s
Looking at the captured HDMI output of Super Mario Bros. 3, it looks like it's only 30fps. Is this due to your capture card or is it a limitation with the RetroScaler 2x?
My videos are 25fps so the frame rate is matched to that.
Can I ask where the stretching it to a 16:9 aspect ratio comes from? Is it the scaler or monitor/capture settings?
The stretching is the monitor. The output shown on the capture I cut into the video is how it comes out of the RetroScaler
So... tell me about Loom.
Eh?
Not bad Shame it can't take RF output that all the machines I had used but cool for the consoles. :)
Hmmm tbf I’m pretty certain they don’t have any kind of RF out conversion
Hahah i thought all these 'Woah!' Comments were bots, but they aren't... lol
They aren’t!!
Woah the retroscaler 2x is cool.
Not as cool as you!
