What amazes me, how they designed and built any machinery before computers and electronics. All done with smart minds using a pencil and ruler.

I saw those close up. My mom had a cousin who was a yard master in Bethlehem at the steel mill and I hitched a ride on a yard job 11-7 while in high school, quite an interesting night.

What’s more is the design and engineering. Somebody drew plans. No computers.

Definitely fun stuff. I grew with Steel Mills all around me and they are definitely fascinating. You're not too far from Atlanta, haha! Enjoy your trip and thanks for sharing.

Thank you for sharing, reminds me of working at AK Steel Middletown Works in Middletown Ohio.👍🏻. And most of the steel making is the same today.

I guess I'm that Guy you're referring about that could name and explain everything on how it works in lemans term as I worked at Bethlehem Steel Museum for a few years giving Walk Through Tours of The Bethlehem Steel Plant in Pennsylvania. Need to Visit as a Lot has changed and would Help you understand Steel Works better.

Sloss is awesome! I spent an entire day there about 7 or 8 years ago. You can literally go just about anywhere in the plant (at least back then).

My dad worked in a steel mill for 42 years. Barely had a high school education and could tear down a furnace and rebuild it in his sleep. Thanks for sharing this.

I share your wonder of the old, the mechanical, the historical.....no matter how odd. The steel mill shows how America did things that were NOT easy. Thanks!!!

Sad that we can't be this kind of self-sufficient, and we shipped almost all this type of stuff out of the country. One day we will pay for it dearly.
Pretty sure that was 23rd st

I see UM winning behind you in the bar. 👍 Now that's a neat National Park. Can you imagine working in there? In the summer!? Thanks for the tour.

For someone like me who has no idea what I'm looking at, that place is spooky, like "horror movie" spooky. I worked for a power company for 46 years and old power plants have the same vibe. Cool stuff, thanks for sharing. Oh, and Happy New Year to you and your family. Love your videos. Thanks
