I remember I took my PS3 to my cousins for the weekend and he had an HD TV. Unfortunately in my room, I had the old TV with an AV port. So when I brought it home, I couldn't connect using the AV ports. For months I saved up to buy a HD TV but it was too expensive and I couldn't play. One day, I stumbled across a post at school where you have to hold on to the power button for 3 secs to change the output from HDMI to AV. I remember taking notes and running home to try it. You don't understand how amazing it was to hear the Start Up music again after so many months.

I think that's why this ps3 I got was given to goodwill, it worked fine, now it's not outputting video from HDMI
I have two hdmi cables for my ps3
both hdmi work on my TV
But my monitor only picks up one hdmi cable and I can’t figure why it’s like that.

Thanks heaps. This finally worked. Top tip - make sure you remove AV Multi cable and only have the HDMI cable plugged in otherwise I found that the PS3 kept sending the video signal to the AV Multi out and not HDMI. Thanks heaps again!

no thank you I finally fixed my nephew system he's happy now
it didn't worked for me I am struggling since a year , i did following
turned off switch .
Connected hdmi cable .
turned on switch .
pressed the power button , heard two beeps and nothing appears on Tv screen .
still says no signal
( Power cable to Ac Switch and Hdmi Cable is connected to tv , that's it )
is it necessary to connect both ( AV AND HDMI CABLE ) to tv while doing video reset . Please reply me ! I haven't played on hdmi ...
but my ps3 fat works with av cable properly .. and while connected both cables ( av and hdmi ) it asks ( and hdmi display was detected do you want video and audio output .....) I click yes .. but nothing happens just black screen appears , and then I switch my source to Hdmi , hoping that Av is turned off as display and hdmi picture would be on . but Fail . Nothing appears on hdmi too . help me please

Thank you for uploading this video firstly 🙏 I tried this with my PS3, am still getting a 'no signal' with the composite cables (tested on my PS2 and that worked) and HDMI cables.
If anyone could please help me as to what to do for the next step that'd be very appreciated 😔 My PS3 isnt letting me reset it with the one short beep (it doesn't do the two or three beeps options anymore). It only lets me force it on and off with the long one beep. I have a feeling it's on its way out perhaps.

It's happening to me too. Turned it on after a long time and got the new update on it, then it just turned off randomly and doesn't show a picture anymore. Can't access safe mode.

U can go to HDMI by ps3 setting menu but if ur HDMI not working what is benefit to go back to HDMI

If the screen to the PS3 seems black despite tried to change visual settings and more, try to press and hold “ON/OFF” button until 3 beeps, not just two as before to reset settings.
After 3 beeps it will restart. Press and hold until 2 beeps. After this I finally got my picture via HDMI cable and could upgrade settings from 560p to 1080p and it worked fine!

My problem is that I was playing, everything working fine, then the PS3 Slim just went black, the light still green and the controllers still working but NO IMAGE AND NO SOUND AT ALL. Tried the thing in the video and it never worked, not even once. I've had the PS3 since 2013. Any suggestions? Tried another HDMI cable but it wasn't that.

Hey guys my problem is that my PS3 was working completely fine and I did this double beep method because my PS3 was frezzing anyways so I tried the double beep and then the TV screen went black and this problem happened I tried to do this method again but nothing worked can someone help pls
I updated my 2009 120GB Slim with the 4.83 patch and it 1st gave me a tiny rainbow picture, then a black screen. I followed these instructions and It's back. Thank you! I would of snapped if it failed because I rarely use it and use 2 Antec 3 speed computer fans to pull any hot air out the back and raised it 1/2 inch so the board gets airflow too. Thanks again!

I disassembled my ps3 completly to find the HDMI ports ok. Put it back together and now I tried this. It worked. Fml

Dude i have the same problem and it REALLY pisses me off when other people ps3s try it and the screen appears, but than when I try it wont work i don't know why anyone got ideas
Yeah. I've tried absolutely everything, and I've only found two solutions:
1) Buy a new TV (your PS will work on every other TV except yours, until it decides it no longer wants to)
2) Throw it in the bin with the rest of the rubbish
Hope that helps - because I can assure you: Nothing else will.

Wow you just saved my gamer life, I was about to give up on my PS3, I thought it stopped working out of my luggage I had taken out in 2 years. Now I just have to figure out HOW TO BREAK THE LIKE BUTTON on this video!1 :D
When it beeps for a second time the console turns off
Be carful. If you try a second time after holding it down until it powers off you will go to the safe screen. (The safe screen contains things like “hard reset” and stuff).
Thank you this fixed my ps3 super slim! top tip i learned never close your system while a digital ps2 game is on it freaks it out quit to the ps3 menu THEN Shut the console down

This doesn't work on My system
If it doesn't work, you might have a GPU fault.
If it shows a blank screen and you can't boot up safe mode but everything else works... Would you say that is also a gpu problem and would a simple reflow fix that problem?
