Thank you for sharing your adventures with us. I've followed you from the 80's and really enjoy your films. Your honesty, humour, technica knowledge and cinematography has never disappointed. From someone who has grown up in the wilds of Africa as the son of a Natal Parks Board Warden and brother of a renown conservationist your exploration of the worlds wild places in 4x4's have kept me enthralled. Safe and adventurous travels, Andrew!
Love the end scene. Never ceases to amaze me how many people travel enourmous, difficult distances to presumable see the beautiful scenery (there is usually no other point to go there)...and then leave their garbage behind.
Awesome video Andrew, as always! Kate is so much like you!! Your videos are great but also having Kate featuring in your videos as well adds a certain kind of freshness, energy, and laughs. If Kate should want to can you please have more videos with her in them, she's great :) Awesome videos so far, I'm looking forward to the next one :)
Hi Andrew. Thank you so much for sharing your “unscripted” journey with us. I appreciate your adventurous spirit and courage! I have driven in the desert and you’re right....the sun, monotony, and the dunes are brutal mentally...In retrospect, perhaps going through the desert on the first leg, would have helped morale! I took your UA-cam creator class and loved it. I am jealous you make a living doing what you love, and so happy for you my friend! Turn on the radio and lift your spirits up as you drive! God’s speed and safe passage!
You should definitely involve Kate more in your films. She adds a level of humour that’s missing when she’s not there (not saying you’re not funny ..... but you know 😂)
Mate! I think this is the best and most entertaining video I’ve seen from you yet. I’m probably not watching your content in order so I’m sure there’s more to come. Your humour is subtle and very enjoyable! The tent with Kate reminds me of the scenes from your Canning Stock Route videos, just fantastic to see a continuation of the gag. Also the scene at 25:30 or thereabouts, I just laughed myself silly! If you do a meet and greet in Perth I’ll be there with some Coke for you... Fantastic stuff mate. Love how you share your knowledge and insights so freely. Hope you’re doing well in these weird times.
It is hard work being a passenger in a 4WD. One reason I bought one was so I had a steering wheel to hold onto. Did some geo survey work in the Tanami. I was the TA and had to get out every so often to collect laterite samples for gold assaying. All GPS grid work. End of the day I was also "knackered". Just constantly bracing yourself.
Another great video i am glad you see the inner beauty of our great brown land it has so many wonders that you begin to appreciate the further you travel i started in my 20's and am now in my 60's but haven't seen enough keep up the great stories Gippy
One trip with the wife we came across the melons, so I collected a few and a small white one and we played melon bowls on the road....she won three games. So good to see Kate enjoying the trip with here dad. I did the simmo in the winter and there were less flies, cold at night but nice during the day.
Drove from Karratha to Ipswich via Tanami rd, Alice, old Ghan rd,Mt Dare.Thought bugger it,I'll cross the Simpson west to east.last vehicle over. Not a tyre track to be had.South Australia section was mentally demanding.12hrs to do 270km most at night. As usual in hurry.Left Friday morning to be home lunch time Tuesday. Will do east to west and take some time to enjoy it .Thanks for your videos.Lets me better prepare for trips
Paddie melons! lol and road trains out of Alice were 150 meters when I was a kid, the BP fuel truck with empty returns was so long he could park parallel to the last trailer. Loved the last bit ......so true.
Great video Andrew, really enjoyed this. You have experience in aviation so you must have spoken to pilots who will tell you that fatique is accumulative and a killer. Mistakes become more and more common the more fatiqued you are. Then get homeitise sets in. Plan into trips proper breaks. Don't make the decision to do that in future, from a hospital bed. Not nagging Andrew, just looking out for you.
I enjoyed it so much! That spontaneity definitely makes your videos so special! I loved the end as well!I really hope to met you some day! Thanks Andrew!
Of all the areas I could have made a comment I'll choose this one. Allowing the server to sit with you for a beer was really nice. Your tired, probably just wanting to get to bed but agreed to spend some time with a fan. Excellent. But the ending was pretty funny too.
You know Andrew I have driven all the places in this video with my Series 2a.. and what i think most people wont feel from this episode is the extreme distances covered in a day by you. Great video as per usual :) And that final campsite... amazing..
great video Kate love the way you pitch a tent, you can teach my youngsters any time, but its that folding back i am worried about😊 Andrew i hope thats a weeks supply of coke and not one day. Very cool ending guys
The Mt Dare area is my home base atm. I'm a Corrosion Engineer inspecting capped drillwells in a 400km radius of the pub. Loving the area. Safe travels bro. Might see you on the track. 👍👍
Great video, the best of the series so far. I don't know for sure, but I suspect the 40Km speed sign was placed there by a wag and not the authorities. There is also an authentic, "relocated" "McDonald's coming soon" sign out there as well...
Brilliant love the coke seeds you planted I know you didn't leave them there lol very funny thank you you and can't wait for the next episode safe travels and good on ya for helping the flying doctors hope I don't ever need them but the backbone of this fantastic country when your in the shit😆
And NO COKE Sponsorship yet? Great videos. Having Kate with you adds a great dynamic and more natural dialogue. Keep up the great work! Stew (from Washington State - USA)
Just back from a Simpson trip along the WAA & it seems like some people have been digging defensive positions into the dunes. Whilst I don't want to generalise, I saw 2 camper trailer recoveries where they were snatched out with maxtrax/treds used under the drive wheels & when they dug them back out, they didn't take 30 seconds to fill the holes back in. Really enjoyed following that group.. Enjoying the series & so happy seeing you made it to Lambert Centre as I suggested just before your trip 👍
It looks like you might need to put that leaf spring back under the troopy. It might stop the tyres from banging on the body work. I was thinking about your set up today. How will going to skinny tyres change any thing when you lengthen the rear axle? The programming is always great. It is Netflix worthy.
Andrew those melons are from Africa don't know how long they have been here but I remember picking them up as a boy back in the seventies to get rid of them, we call em paddy melons, and thanks for all the great videos.
Well done guys and Andrew the amount of cans at the end you should have bounced out that full of sugar... great videos , thanks for letting us go on your journey.
I'm part way through your series on Udemy and loving it - I'm learning so much - thank you! You're very inspiring and your advice is helping alot with my own small channel - thanks!
Thank you for taking the time and effort to make this cinevideo. The length is perfect and the content is interesting. Its a good mix of scenery, personal experience and day to day progress. This could have been 26 minutes of utter boredom but it was not. I thought Australians use corks dangling from hats to get rid of flies or is that some kind of stereotype? :-) Thanks Andrew, much appreciated!
Love your vids Andrew. Minor correction (puts propeller hat on). Australia's biggest sand dune is also the largest free standing sand dune in the world. It is Mount Tempest on Moreton Island. 😊 (propeller hat off). Sadly you cannot drive it.
It’s 40 flies a second. Nothing to do with speed Awesome film as always I know you’ll have picked up the coke bottles (had to laugh) many unfortunately would just litter like that ( well in the uk Hopefully not there) thanks for filming another great episode.
The locals at the pub gave me advice about tires on the track I was about to take. This was the only place I have ever gotten a flat with a fresh rear tire.Queensland to NA.
Lol yes we just got back from there aswell and that road from Dalhousie to my dare is horrendous and from Dalhousie to the Oodnadatta is horrible aswell

Perfect. Very nice video and awesome trip. Would be really an honor to host you in Argentina, Mendoza.
Ah the price of success, schedules, time-tables and deadlines. Not things that are ever likely to trouble me I think :) Another outstanding episode. The melons you found are usually referred to as pig melons in W.A. and they are an invasive pest species. I believe they originated in South Africa.
So we getting right back at you guys! We have several serious invasive pest species in South Africa too; all originating from Australia - Eucalyptus, Black Wattle, Port Jackson....
well done andrew , 2010 hilux birdsville to alice one tank 145l long range 8 slabs of beer 200 litre of water in 10l spring water boxes , was not going to pay $2.60 a litre at mt dare , alice is the same price as adelaide , enjoy the rock guys
fatigue oft caused by dehydration, maybe drink small but often all day, my dad refused water he died cancer of bladder, I put it down to drinking no water, I drink about 4l a day because I work hard and since my stroke, everything takes 10 times the effort,
You definitely picked up the habit in Africa. In Mexico Coke is more ubiquitous than water. Even when there is no water there is always a chilled Coke available in these places :)

jetnavigator couldn't agree with you more. Let's go out this weekend and find an amazing place to camp and then trash it??
You’re daughter makes me laugh with her tent antics
Great video. Love the Coke bottles at the end. lol
yeah, almost as funny as Kate with the tent

You are certainly a master film maker, combining humour, educational, and fabulous photography.
You should definitely involve Kate more in your films. She adds a level of humour that’s missing when she’s not there (not saying you’re not funny ..... but you know 😂)
I agree.
Agreed!
Hats off to you Andrew for your efforts at Mt. Dare with the T'shirt, $50 donation, and for plugging the amazing Flying Doctor.
Andrew & Kate make such a great team!! :) May you keep bringing us fantastic videos for many years to come!!
that was funny at the end! got a good guffaw out of me.

Hi Andrew thanks for doing such an amazing job in capturing the beauty of Australia 🇦🇺
Need a video montage of Kate's tent setup skills! Hilarious!
One trip with the wife we came across the melons, so I collected a few and a small white one and we played melon bowls on the road....she won three games. So good to see Kate enjoying the trip with here dad. I did the simmo in the winter and there were less flies, cold at night but nice during the day.
Brilliant ending to this episode! Hahaha! Don't insult Kate's cooking!

The dingo remind me of both Cape Wild Dog and jackal. Beautiful trip!
Another great clip. Well done to the both of you........
Great travelogue episode! Love the self-reflexive humour in that final bottle scene - that ought to be your signature. :-D
Really enjoy your work and this series in particular! The more I see your rig the more I love it!
great video Kate love the way you pitch a tent, you can teach my youngsters any time, but its that folding back i am worried about😊 Andrew i hope thats a weeks supply of coke and not one day. Very cool ending guys
Really really enjoyed this episode!!! Excellent mix of your thoughts along with getting to see the hotel and some creatures. Well done!
Ending was the best (funniest) moment since Kate first set up the tent!
Great episode Andrew. Pleased to see the humour hasn't deserted you ! 👍🏻
Thump up for you Andrew, amazing crossing Australia video, I was watching it with friends it is fantastic

ahahhahhah my favorite part is the closing scene with the coke bottles !!!! GOLD!!!
yeah, almost as funny as Kate with the tent

I also can't wait for ep6, am very captivated. Got to love those flies..

Clive Webb is that still there? I thought that it was removed
JimmyStewpot It may have been removed mate, I could not say for sure...
The end was great. Love your humor.
My favorite video of yours without doubt. Good to see you don't take yourself too seriously. :D
Brilliant love the coke seeds you planted I know you didn't leave them there lol very funny thank you you and can't wait for the next episode safe travels and good on ya for helping the flying doctors hope I don't ever need them but the backbone of this fantastic country when your in the shit😆

The famous Australian Barking Spider can be heard at 3:50.
Struth!
If there wasn't an episode during one of your trips with a Coke based joke it just wouldn't be complete. Nice episode! Looking forward to the next.
Thank you for taking the time and effort to make this cinevideo. The length is perfect and the content is interesting. Its a good mix of scenery, personal experience and day to day progress. I wonder if Andrew knows Russell Coight
Great film, I absolutely lost it at 25:35

Another great video. Really inspires me to get out there.
Another great video. Greetings from Portugal.
That final scene with the coke bottles was great.
25:45 Andrew you crack me up

...and loud tourists with funny accents!
Big Red from the east is very easy. Tackling it from the west is the reason it's infamous. Truckies will usually be on UHF 40.
well done andrew , 2010 hilux birdsville to alice one tank 145l long range 8 slabs of beer 200 litre of water in 10l spring water boxes , was not going to pay $2.60 a litre at mt dare , alice is the same price as adelaide , enjoy the rock guys

Hello, Andrew!!!
Love watching your videos. Love the pants you are wearing. What brand is that (if you don’t mind me asking)?
Well done Andrew.
This is brilliant btw
