    👉Samaltau
    Mountain breeze
Mountain breeze, my amazing country, my endless lake,
What days await me as a soldier,
You keep coming into my mind from time to time,
My amazing homeland, where I was born and raised
    I wasn't riding, I was walking,
    Even slower than walking,
    Been strolling for 15 days
    In the direction of Omsk
I'm at the age of two cycles, the year of the cow
By the will of Fate, I went farther away
Mountain breeze, my amazing country, you're left behind
From the hollow field, we are the only ones
    I had parents,
    Of progressed age,
    Since this song was written,
    It's been 16 years.
Mountain breeze, my amazing country, my endless lake,
What days await me as a soldier🌼🇩🇪

This song is beautiful. The sound-scaping created by the qobyz and the rain stick before Dimash joins is pure and natural. It transports us to the Samal mountains and takes us on a journey reflective of the rich Kazakh history. I also love the music Qairan Elim, where Dimash demonstrated (I believe the first time) his directorial chops in addition to his vocal chops.

When Kazakhstan belonged to Russia (In 1916/17, First World War), young Kazakhs were forced, by the Russian Empire, to leave their homes and fight 35 years until their total massacre. The story of one of these young people, who marches in despair to a war that is not his, in addition to the sadness of leaving his parents, elders, with no one to take care of and the certainty that he will never see the mountains ("tau") of Kazakhstan again. this wonderfully sad song! In addition to Dimash's talent, we have a wonderful setting and fantastic musician: Olzhas Qurmanbek, Master of Playing the Qobyz (Kobyz, which looks like a violin: An instrument of Turkish origin, sacred in Kazakhstan)

Dear Vera, I am sure that all Dimash fans adore you for your sincere and direct reactions, this is your charm. You asked for the history of the song. It is sung on behalf of a soldier drafted into the army and going to the front during the First World War. She is full of sadness about parting with her beloved homeland, maybe forever. Kazakhstan has very weak harvests due to the climate and soil, I had to go there, albeit for a long time. And men at that time were the breadwinners of the family. Therefore, the departure of the head of the family to the front doomed the family to starvation, especially if the family was engaged in agriculture. History says that a little later, 1 million people died of starvation there. For Kazakhstan, this is a lot. You can appreciate the mood of a soldier who sees his native mountains from the train window, maybe for the last time. The song conveys his mood.

@@wonderfalg I agree with you. Not better. All versions are great, but there are some things I like better in some of the versions over others. In this one, I prefer the low B2 note at the end rather than the higher note in the Tokyo Jazz and digital show versions. And in the vocalization section, I prefer the legato he uses in this and the digital show versions over the slight staccato he uses in the Tokyo Jazz version. And, OMG, the emotion in the digital show version. But, I can’t say one is better than the other. I love them ALL.

I absolutely love every one of the versions Dimash has done of this song. Even though he's always so emotionally committed & connected in any language, in Kazakh it seems there is an extra dimension to his emoting. The Tokyo Jazz Festival version is wonderful & sublime, & the Dimash Digital 2021 version is superb; it has added chords, a whole new instrumental melody part, and interaction with the Western instruments in such a cool way. Also, there is a visual effect that you really adds to the drama, you will love it & it will blow your mind!! 🤯🤯

👉 This bowl-neck lute played with a bow is is an old Turkic stringed instrument and called Kobys or Kylkobyz in Kazakhstan. The Kyrgyz variant, for example, is called the kyl-kyyak.
The Kobys is the oldest string instrument in the world and, according to a German scientist, it spread beyond the borders of the nomadic area of Central Asia and became the prototype of all European string instruments.
(Turkic means: The Turkic peoples are a collection of ethnic groups from Central, East, North and West Asia as well as parts of Europe and North Africa who speak Turkic languages.)
A legend about Kobyz says that this instrument was created by the great steppe narrator Korkyt-Ata, who lived in the 10th century and that the tool is charged with magical and even mystical properties and sounds like animal voices. In addition, the Kazakh people believed that the spirits of their ancestors spoke to them through this music.
The old outlook and piety towards their instruments and music was constantly preserved in traditional Kazakh society and ensured the highest spiritual level of musical art and a special respectful attitude towards musical instruments. Simple people, for example, did not dare to touch the shaman's Kobyz. It is said: The balance between the courses of life and death on earth can be maintained by playing the Kobyz. 🌼🇩🇪

Kazakh version is called Kobyz. Sorry, that I was not exact enough though it has relationship to Dombra.

That was a Kobiz, not a Dombra. Dombra is most similar to a guitar.
