Did you catch my Freudian slip at 7:41 😅😂 What's your version of the "World's Best Bike"?
Traitor
😂
The one I'm riding. Just like the best camera is the one in your hands.
@@HellaRandomVideos perfect answer 🔥
My "built from the frame up/recycled" steel road-hybrid from the 80ties I rescued from a trash heap - 7000 km this year - friction downtube shifting, square taper, quill stem :) (14kg, and takes 6500 ft climbs like a champ)
Remember that a more comfortable bike will often also be a faster bike in real conditions.
That’s some big brain thinking right there 🔥
I just got a roadmachine three with ultegra di2 to replace an aging madone 3 and it's been stunning how much of an upgrade it is. It climbs so fast and weighs less, yet it's comfortable and can even handle little gravel stints. I'm so happy with it. Glad you're in the same boat.
I've been riding a RoadMachine ONE for about a year now - I remember the first time I rode it and how nice it felt. I love it.
That's awesome!
I feel you brother. About 10 years ago, I bought my wife a bike with the pipe dream that she would ride with me. The closest I've gotten was I've got her to get on her trainer (my old trainer actually) and ride while I'm on my trainer. I've only been able to accomplish that very occasionally.
Double trainers 🤔 thanks a good idea! Val likes coffee rides so maybe I just need to make sure there is good food at the end of ride too
Cheers, nice video. Your bike looks great, and sounds like it's perfect for the riding you do. I used to live in California long ago, watching these videos brings back good memories, as I live in Michigan now.
Thanks Gary!
Hi Mitch! I started following your channel a couple of months ago, right when I was shopping for a new bike. Thanks to you I went to check BMC, saw the Roadmachine but they didnt have my size (4 month waiting list) so Im the new owner of a Teammachine Four 2022. Your content inspires me to ride and im planning to upgrade wheels next year! Greetings from Colombia!
Hi Santiago! That’s awesome, thanks so much for watching. I hope you like your Teammachine! Let me know which wheels you end up getting ✌️
I got way too excited when I received the new video notification 😂
It's awesome to see your channel is going well! This content is GOLD!
Thanks Gerardo! There are a lot of exciting videos on the way. Appreciate you dude 🙌
I have a 2020 Teammachine and just got a 2023 Roadmachine. Both bikes are awesome but slightly different. While the Teammachine is giving you that sportscar feeling, the Roadmachine feels more like driving a sporty SUV. If I could only have one bike it would be the Teammachine - but following the n+1 rule, the Roadmachine is an awesome addition for longer rides/bikepacking.
Glad you are enjoying it. I have the Roadmachine X which I use as my winter bike/gravel bike and love it, the geometry makes it a fun ride and being a 1x easy to keep clean in winter. My summer bike goes on the Kickr during the bad weather in the UK
Nice, that sounds like a great setup!
I have the Team Machine, I got it at Velo Pasadena also, and it's one of the most comfortable race bikes I've owned. I've been through many brands like Bianchi, BH, Orbea, S-Works, Look, Masi, Cannondale, Giant, just to name a few, and the BMC is the one I've finally gone with. I've had many Tarmacs over my time because that was the most comfortable bike for me and I used it as a barometer, so I kept going back to them. But once I got the BMC SLR01 I have since sold my S-Works Tarmac SL7 and can use that money for something else. BMC is my choice when it comes to comfort and handling on a race bike. Good choice there. And if you decide to go with the Team Machine down the road I'm sure you won't be disappointed.
Hi Neri, glad to hear you really like your Teammachine after riding so many different brands! Definitely pushes me a bit closer to it 🙌
I got a BMC Roadmachine Two earlier this year. I was on the fence about getting a Cervelo Caledonia or a BMC. The Cervelo seemed more practical but the BMC just had the aesthetically pleasing allure. And I had the same experience you had, once I tested the BMC it felt like I was on a rocketship, it transformed me, and maybe the Ultegra Di2 helped push me to BMC. I've also noticed that cornering on this bike is something else. I have zero regrets. I can't imagine how much a pair of wheels would make this bike that much more better than it already is!
Also just wanted to add thank you for your BMC content, I think your review of BMC definitely helped me even think about BMC before I bought this bike.
Thanks for watching Simran! Glad to hear you love your Roadmachine too! It’s an awesome bike. I’m glad I was a small part in convincing you to get it 🙌
I bought a Roadmachine 02 Three when it was released in 2018. It cost me $3500 at the time. It was the 105 spec bike which was BMC's cheapest offering with a carbon frame. Not long after I purchased a Sram eTap groupset and converted it to electronic shifting. Shimano was still kind of getting their footing with electronic drive trains at the time. It cost me $1300 for the kit and I had to install it myself. I also converted the press fit bottom bracket to a threaded bottom bracket with a kit from Wheels Manufacturing (this is an absolute must for carbon frames). I have enjoyed doing all of these upgrades myself as it helped me learn my bike inside and out. And for many of us, buying a top spec (or even mid level) bike just isn't a reality. My frame has scars too. I was about halfway through a corner once under a heavy tree canopy. The road was paved but covered by a thick blanket of pine needles. The tires instantly came out from under towards my lean and I ended up laying the bike down. I also want to upgrade to wheels and bars like you have. Thanks for sharing your experience!
Amazing similarities to my own experience: I'm long-legs, short-torso, low-flexibility guy. I had been riding an aluminum Synapse ca. 2007. Bought a Roadmachine in 2019 which transformed me from an infrequent cyclist to "cyclist." I was torn between Roadmachine and Teammachine but opted for the more endurance geometry and handling since I felt that I wasn't ready for a "race" bike. Like you, I've had the nagging question of whether I should have gone Teammachine. Now several years later I moved (Budapest to Vienna) to a place with more hills, curves, and switchbacks, and I can't help but notice that the Roadmachine is great in corners and sinuous descents, but is hard to turn over in switchbacks (boat-like?!) due to slack head angle. After several years of mulling, it's time to bite the bullet and try the Teammachine. (but then more agony - 56 or 58?! RM is 58, and has always felt big, but am I, a mere mortal, ready for a snappy, short 56 TM?! Cycling is fun and agony. )
"push me to become a better rider" - what a nice ending... cool video haha!
👏👏👏👏 Just found this. Excellent video all around. I just got back into riding after 7 years last week. Glad thing popped up in recommendations
Welcome back to riding!
I agree. Have a 01 THREE myself, because I knew I would upgrade if I wouldn't have the 12 sp Ultegra and decent carbon wheels. Set it up with 30 mm tubeless and it instantly became so much more comfortable. Also another saddle (Specialized Power) and power pedals from Garmin. Love this thing!
Nice! Sounds like a great setup 🙌
Got my BMC Roadmachine 3 (2019, already have a Racemaster SLX01 (2009) and a Teammachine SLR02 (2013)) with 40% off and love it to bits. Super, super bike I always have a stupid grin riding it.
Cool review!! I already have 2 BMC and currently saving to get a high end Team Machine SLR01 to complete my collection! Happy you like your Road Machine, enjoy !:)
Sounds like a great collection! Thanks for watching 🙌
Nice review. I got 01 Four and love it
I own this bike but with 105 and everything you said on this video resonated with me. Especially when it comes to cornering and descending, it's dangerously confident. You're pushing and pushing, and you don't seem to find the limit, it just goes wherever you throw it to. If only it wasn't on the heavy side, despite being snappy, it would have been near perfect. It would be interesting to hear the experience of someone going from Roadmachine to Teammachine though, because I did as well consider it.
Oh no, don't tempt me... I'm only a few comments away from buying a Teammachine frame "for content" 😉 Glad to hear you've had a similar experience with the Roadmachine! It's so much fun to ride.
@Mitch Boyer And you can always write it off as a "business expense" 😁👍 Keep up the good work!
@@JustSueMe True! Thanks, dude
Got both, happily ride both
@@U.s.e.r.3493 best of both worlds!
I went from a Supersix Evo HiMod to a 2022 Roadmachine and no regrets! I’ve lost about 1% performance but gained 20% more comfort which equals way more enjoyable riding! You picked the right BMC for sho
That’s great to hear! More enjoyable riding is better riding in my book too. Thanks, Tim!
Excited to watch this! Just a couple weeks ago I got a BMC Roadmachine 3! Partially inspired by seeing your 5!
Congrats on the new bike!
@@MitchBoyer Thanks! I got the power meter pedals, but I think my next upgrade will be a saddle. How did you go about researching them?
@@gobias8644 Definitely a good upgrade to go for. If you have a local shop that will let you try saddles, I would 100% recommend that. For the first one I tried (Fizik Vento), I had ridden the specialized short-nose saddle in the past, but my local shop had the Fizik. I tried it out and liked it. Over time, with increasingly long trainer sessions, I was getting hot spots. So later, when my brother-in-law had the 3d printed saddle, I tried it and was blown away. All that said. Saddles are SUPER personal. Try a few out if you can. Let me know what you end up with!
Great video! I went down the same road as you. I bought a Roadmachine 01 Four in 2020. Fell in love with it. Then… I asked the same question you asked at the end of your video. The answer was: yes, I wanted a race bike. The SL7 had just come out, so I bought a frame set and moved the components over. I haven’t looked back.
Nice! I might be headed down the same path. Looking at the Teammachine and the new Enve Melee-I just wish it came in different colors
These upgrades make sense. Did something similar with my S5 disc: replaced the Ultegra 11s with the 12s Di2 and bought a pair of Hunt wheels. Amazzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzing!
Nice!!
Gotta admit I'm not a tubeless fan for "too much faff" reasons but once I rode a loaner Roadmachine with tubeless tires on for a week when my own roadmachine with clinchers were in the shop. I gotta say the comfort difference was VERY noticible!
Got a Roadmachine and a teammachine..only difference is the teammachine *feels* that much zippier. Not missing out on anything else
As always Excellent content. Bought two pair from your link. Hopefully they give you credit.
Thanks Zane!
I'm lucky enough to have an earlier UCI stamped Roadmachine 01 LTD as my 'best' bike. I can only echo your thoughts, it's the best allrounder for rapid mile munching that I've ever ridden. It replaced a Venge Disc and I've not looked back since, it's just sublime to ride. If I had to critique, it's that the super compliant rear triangle can create a bit of a flat rear tyre feeling on specific surfaces and situations. I run Conti tubeless at 75 PSI though, higher pressures may alleviate that.
Love your channel! Trying to get my wife back into cycling so I feel that 😩
Thanks, Tom! Lemme know if you figure out a way to make it exciting for her! I'm trying everything I can over here, but I'm afraid it's a losing battle 😅😂
I just got a Road Machine 01 with the ultegra di2 . I got the 2017 version. It's such a sweet bike. It handles amazingly and the power transfer is sweet.
Great review. The riding in wet weather and scratches to the frame in my option a cheaper gravel bike is needed for some days.
Sounds fantastic... makes me want one.
I first found your channel mid last year as I started researching between the Teammaching and the Roadmachine, trying to figure out which way I wanted to go. At that point I’d been riding my old Trek 5000 for 16 years. It was an entry level race geometry but I wondered if it was time for me to move to a more endurance geometry bike as I’m getting older, not racing, and most of my rides are long rides (I prefer 100+ miles with my long of 202 miles).
After watching your journey I was pretty much sold on getting the Roadmachine 01 Five, even after talking to the bike shop while getting my Trek refit and their thought is that I would most likely prefer the Teammachine simply because of what I was used to. So I finished out last season and looked forward to a hopeful spring where I could test ride both of them and buy one. Then it happened the day my wife said it was time for me to put myself first, stop putting off a new bike for other “priorities” and go get one. I test road both back to back and I went with the Teammachine 01 Five.
I have to say that I love the feel, the quick get up and go as well as the quick agile feel. I’m still testing out different heights before I have them cut the steering tube but I can honestly say that this is by far my best bike ever.
Funny side note. On our way home from the bike shop when I had ordered it I asked my wife if she was going to be upset with me for spending that much money on the bike. She said, “The way I look at it, this is the bike you are going to die on.” My response, “I hope I not going to die on it.” Of course she just meant that it was my forever bike and that was why she was fine with me not compromising to a lower cost bike. Of course she might regret the purchase now as I haven’t stopped talking about how much I love it for the last two weeks.
Congrats on the Teammachine! Sounds like it was the right choice for you. Thanks for sharing dude. Enjoy your forever bike 😉
My favorite is the one I’m riding at the time. But if I could keep only one, it would probably be my 2011 Fuji Cross 3.0 with triple front rings. Fits like a glove, and rides perfectly.
Sounds like a dream!
One time big time!!!! but first you need to find you so close perfect bike fit.
One thing I learned. The comfortable you are the faster you go.
Amazing video as always Mitch! I know this is off topic from the bike, but I noticed that you had the Branch Ergonomic Chair in the video. I was just wondering what you thought of the chair. How comfortable would you say it is and would you recommend it?
Haha no worries! It's a great value and pretty comfortable. I don't know much about chairs, and I have no idea how it stacks up to super ergonomic chairs, but I liked it enough to buy a second one for Val's desk next to mine (off screen). Hope that helps!
Awesome review! Looking at the bike now so crazy that this popped up in my recommendations, the big bike shop in my area has this one for sale.
I'd also say another reason to go with a lower end bike and upgrade to the higher end components is if you like the color. BMC seems very picky about their bike colors.
Good point! The color was a big factor in my choice too. Lemme know if you end up getting it. Thanks for watching!
LOL
I should be picking up my Roadmachine 01 next week... can't wait!
Congrats on the new bike 🎉
@@MitchBoyer Thanks... I'm hoping I''ll have the same experience as you
I just discovered yr channel & I ❤️ it. I just want to give you encouragement. Also make a BMC road-machine vs team machine video. Does yr entire Upgrade Cost exceed a Team Machine? Also, a video on why you decide on a BMC over a Trek Emonda, or Giant TCR. 👍
Thanks Peter! Haha yeah the upgrade cost definitely exceeds the same level Teammachine 😅 but I guess I gotta get one to see what I’m missing 🤔
In these sports of passion we’re always fantasizing about the next bike or next upgrade. Since I’m about 25 years into this journey I can tell you that it’s not really about the bike but about the love of the sport and all it’s details. I still love getting a new bike and all the goofy upgrades precisely because this is a passion and not some logical business. So go get the next crazy bike because fulfilling that passion is exactly what it’s about.
But to add my 2 cents from my years of cycling, don’t get the race bike. They don’t really make any sense for what we do. Usually it means a slightly racer geometry and stiffer frame which only makes things slightly twitchier and rougher. In the long run calmer, smoother bikes are way more pleasant to ride. Leave the race bikes for the crit racers and enjoy the endurance bikes for everything else. Remember smooth is fast and fun. The secret is to get an endurance bike that looks all sexy and racey but has calm and smooth handling. Best of both worlds. Looks fast but rides smooth. That’s the perfect blend.
Some really good advice. Thanks, Steve!
That is a beautiful bike
Late to the party so not sure if it will be read.
I'm looking for a disc brake performance bike (as a second bike) with options for a lot of drop since that's what my first bike has.
Given that you posted this 9 months ago and rode a year on it back then, I'm assuming this is the older gen BMC. I rode a similar model to yours and found that the back was overly plush at the back, to the point that I was thinking I might be riding with a flat. Also felt like some of the tech on it was dated compared to newer bikes like specialized for example.
In the video you basically say that there's no downsides. What other brands have you considered buying? What were your criteria that the bike should meet? It seems like you weren't too picky in terms of geometry, modes of shifting, aero, weight etc., just comfort for the longer rides. Am I correct in that assessment? Was the all-round geometry a consequence of it being a safer pick for slightly more beginner cyclist?
Thanks for the video, hope you can offer some more insight!
I have the orange roadmachine one 2023 ultegra di2 for 5000 euro, brake cables not integrated in the cockpit, but I prefer that.
One thing I don't like is the position of the seat tube adjusting screw, very unpractical.
There is nothing i'd like to change so far, tires probably but i'll first wear out the ones it came with.
One thing i regret is that the front derailleur bolt is at it's lowest already, so i wonder if i can put a 46/33 on it,as i did on my previous compact bike.
I also might try out in a few months if a 36 cass might work.
Cool videos man, I love your style and the way you put together videos.
Two Questions:
1) I'm trying to decide between both bikes you owned (2022 Revolt 2 Advanced Pro vs. BMC Roadmachine). With the 2022 Giant Revolt Advanced 0 being at 18lbs now, would that have changed any opinion you had about your previous bike, and not buying the BMC?
2) Did you by chance ever look at the BMC Roadmachine X?
Thanks Brian! My recommendation depends on the riding you like to do. I’m really into road riding right now, and only occasionally ride gravel/fire roads, so the Roadmachine is what I prefer over the two. But if you lean more gravel, the Revolt is awesome. And to complicate your decision… 😅 I’ve heard great things about the Giant TCR if you really like Giant and wanna go w a road bike.
I haven’t tried the Roadmachine X, but Id bet it’s solid based on my experience w the Roadmachine.
@@MitchBoyer All of these great bikes! I love it. Thanks for the reply, shopping is half the fun.
heyy I have his brother the BMC teammachine slr02.. it's also my dream bike though it's still rim brakes. had it for 2 years .. I'm interested to buy the other models of BMC in the future .. maybe I'll consider the roadmachine too!!
Just upgraded from an aluminum gravel bike to a carbon road bike and the first ride felt like the difference between an entry level camera and a proper pro setup. Legitimately was shocked at how much performance I got out of it.
You know that's exactly what I say about my Scott Addict RC 🙂
Exactly how I feel about my 2021 domane sl6
Nice! You almost make e want to give up my Bianchi. But I'd need to go head to head for that. And even then I pretty sure that is just keep both. Or maybe throw A Cannondale Synapse or Super Six into the equation. Or Specialized Aethos. So many great bikes out there. I may need to have a look at BMC. Thanks.
Thanks for watching! I totally agree. So many good bikes it’s hard to pick just one 😅
Dude you should get the bmc roadmachine four!!
I think you chose the right bike and model for your size. However, the Team Machine geometry is very friendly with stack and reach. You probably could've gone with that model. I just built up a 2022 BMC SLR01 Team Machine Shimano DA 12 Speed. It is an absolute beast when it comes to cornering and comfort. I'm 5'8" and went with a size 51. 15lb bike with cages and pedals. Awesome RIG I must say. BMC kicks ass.
5'8 with a 51 cm? Lol
@@comedyman112 Are you a bike sizing expert? Clearly you know nothing about torso length, leg length etc. and or my previous bikes. So, what's funny?
I have an alloy BMC mountain bike in the same colour, many of the frame details even look the same. Do you find the top of the seatstays rub your legs?
Mitch! Appreciate your videos! I’m about to pull the trigger on a new bike. The Roadmachine is actually my top pick. Given you have a good amount of miles into this bike, I was wondering if you had any bottom bracket issues with it being press fit?
That’s awesome dude, thanks for watching! It’s a fantastic bike No issues at all with the bottom bracket. When I installed the Ultegra Di2 on it I replaced the bottom bracket and was worried my amateur installation might mess it up, but it’s been solid. The whole bike is super tight and quiet which I love. (Except for my freehub which is super loud 😜)
@@MitchBoyer Of course!! Awesome info! Thank you! Just sent the order in for the bike now. Went with the Roadmachine Four🤘
In my opinion, the best all around bike is a custom Ti. I've had many bikes and once I introduced a Ti frame into the equation, I realized it is the best for my riding. Totally worth it. Mine is a DeSalvo.
Every time I see a titanium bike on the road, I get excited. Getting a custom Ti is such a boss move.
looks almost exactly like the trek domane that i have. every single thing he mentioned here I can see in my own 'world's best bike'
Could you explain what were your previous bikes/point of reference when talking about this bike? Nice production value btw
Thanks for watching! I’m pretty new to road biking. My previous drop bar bike was the Giant Revolt (a gravel bike). I road a fixie in NYC for a few years, and grew up casually riding mountain bikes in Utah, but never anything super intense.
Weights the same as my ALUMINUM 2016 Scott Speedster with Campagnolo Athena and ALLOY DT Swiss RR511 wheels!!!
Good video :) I’m considering an Endurance bike at the moment and BMC Road Machine is an option now
Lemme know what you think if you take it for a test ride!
I ordered a 51cm Roadmachine Three yesterday. Ive been on a Roadmachine before but it was not exacty same setup as three.
I was able to “steal” it for 4280 after shipping. The wheels will be converted to some sort of gravel use (maybe). But I plan on buying sone Boyd wheels asap.
I have some really nice Easton Carbon handlebars on a caad9 and plan to swap them out with the alloy bars on the RM. with a set of lightweight wheels and high performance tubeless tires, and the carbon handlebars, I should be able to knock off at least another pound. :)
Nice video! Dont worry about replacing parts. That you assembled it all yourself means that you know much more about bikes than the average person (i.e. me). I got myself a team machine 01 three just two years into my cycling journey. Still love the bike, though now i share my love with even more bikes. 🫢
Thanks James! I think I’m on the same path 😅
Hi, couldnt help to notice your bike case at the beginning of the video. It looked very small and compact. What brand/type is it?
Hi! It's the Orucase B2. I love it. Super compact (you do need to remove your fork and bars when packing), and sometimes I don't even get charged a bike fee because it's about as big as a normal suitcase. It's definitely paid for itself with all the bike fees I've avoided
Versatile doesnt necessarily mean the one with the most tyre clearance. Its the one you can do backpacking with, the one you can race with, climb with do tt with and this delivers like an 8/10 on all counts.
I agree! I’ve done everything on you list except a time trial with this bike. But it’s great for (casual) racing, climbing, and even a little bike packing.
@9:30: what kind of luggage system is that? can you recommend any system? my last bike with aluminum frame had points to attach a rack i used with ortlieb bags - to carry basic equipment for like a week ride. proud like a father i brought home my new and first carbon frame today, but i'm worrying how to equip it for longer trips...
It’s the Carbon AeroPack by Tailfin. I’ve used it in a few longer rides and it’s been phenomenal. Lightweight with a huge capacity. Congrats on the new bike btw!
Honestly if you're not racing it's not worth it. I ended up selling my canyon ultimate to purchase this exact bike. I do not regret the decision whatsoever. Especially if you are looking to ride in different terrains and not be limited for the sake of being 'aero'
Go RCA. Great review mate. Cheers
Hey man, where did you get the paint for the chips you have done to the frame? I have the exact same bike, with several chips I am not proud about!
I found it in my wife's nail polish kit 😂 Luckily she had a couple of reds and I picked one that was pretty close.
Would you recommend over the TeamMachine? The price is almost the same
I would like to hear your honest opinion on the Ultegra Di2 compared to the mechanical R8000. I must say, the only thing I can really see as an upgrade, are the levers. Shifting wise the R8000 is fast, precise and crispy. I cannot really see the point of going electric with such a mechanical group-set.
I agree, the mechanical R8000 is phenomenal. The shifting is super crisp for mechanical, especially when I’m just riding along on the flats! The big advantages I’ve found with electronic are when shifting under load while sprinting and climbing. The electronic 12 speed handles it like a champ and I find myself confident shifting at times when I’d never shift with the mechanical setup. That said, I’ve held onto my mechanical groupset and will probably put it back on the Roadmachine if I ever build a new bike.
1:24 I love your Transport bag. Which Marke is that? TY
It’s the Orucase B2 I’ve flown all over the world with it and it’s down a good job protecting my bikes
Hey, I’d like to know what wall hanger you’re using, I’ve never seen one like this, did you make it or purchase it? Thanks
I got tit off Etsy! I put a link in the description if you wanna grab one for yourself ✌️
I am looking at buying this bike. what tools did you cary to enable you to remove the rims in case of a flat ? BMC does not have quick release levers
I have a little multitool from Topeak that I carry on every ride along with a tire lever, pump, and spare tube. Any multitool with a 6mm allen wrench will work 🫡
Why didnt you buy that more expensive model in the first place instead of upgrades?
I have the same wall bike mount!! Did you get it from this dude from tEtsy as well?
Yep!
How did you find the upgrade to Di2? Im currently on 105 mechanical 11speed but um considering upgrading to ultegra di2 on my Focus Izalco Max. Do you think its worth it?
Was it necessary? Not really. Do I enjoy it? Yep! haha. The shifting is a little bit smoother, and you'll have more weight savings than I did going from 105 to Ultegra Di2. I still have mechanical shifting on one of my bikes, but the rest are electronic and they are noticeably better... but they don't make me ride any faster if that's top of your priority list. It's basically just a nice thing to have.
2020 Venge Pro 🙌🏽
A great bike too!
Is 50/34 11-32 really enough for climbing? Do you wish for lower gears sometimes?
Only when I'm on grades steeper than 15% which isn't too often (despite the steep streets videos I make 😅).
Can you post your dimensions so we can see how well-suited other people might be for a 56 cm road machine?
I’m 6’1” (187cm) tall, but I have short arms and a short torso for my height. My bike is a 56, I think most people my height would fit on a 58. Thanks for watching!
Nice bike
Yes, you should have got a team machine!
CONFIRMING MY WORST FEARS 😅
Went with a Specialized Aethos instead but a Roadmachine was second on the list. Pricing and availability just didnt work out at the time.
Another great bike!
whats that wall mount set up the bike is on in the beginning of the video?
It’s a 3d printed mount from an Etsy store called usefulprints. I’ll update the video description with the link!
The bike is on sale for 2.500€ right now. Worth it?
I just bought one thanks to your video with an ultegra di2. Howerver I'm disappointed that the brake ducts are not fully integrated for the price !
It is a bit of a bummer. Especially since the rest of the bike is so solid. I’ve thought about switching the fork out but traveling with the external cables is much easier than the internal cables in my experience.
@@MitchBoyer I think if you switch to an ICS2 cockpit instead of an ICS1, it might be possible to integrate brake cables without switching the fork. Next upgrade for you ? :)
@@clementcastel1682 unfortunately the fork is necessary. There is no way to integrate the cables up the post. I have the BMC URS which has integrated cables and the fork uses a special tube that gives space for the integrated cables.
I am in between 56/58 sizes, 185cm tall. Will you recommend to choose a smaller one?
I’m 187cm and have the 56. It fits me perfectly. But I’d still say try riding both sizes yourself if you can. Everyone’s fit is a little different.
Money is no object: which road bike would you get and with which specs (group/wheels etc)?
Ps: really liking your videos :)
Oh man, that's a good question! So aside from the obvious Teammachine (based on my BMC preference), I've been really curious about the new ENVE Melee lately. I do wish they had more color options. What about you?
@@MitchBoyer probably a Factor 02 with lightweight wheels. Just got a Wilier 0 slr full dura ace di2 with also DA wheels so can't complain :)
@@MrDado937 Those are some nice bikes! I've seen the Factor 02 up close a few times and it looks incredible!
I have the 2020 Teammachine SLR01 FOUR…best bike I’ve ever owned. Ultegra Di2 and that frame!!! I paid what seemed an arm and a leg during the height of COVID ( no discounts!), but less than half of a new Dura-Ace equipped Pinarello some customer just bought at my LBS. I just couldn’t help thinking that guy just threw away ten grand. BMCs are completely underrated and I’m a huge fan, doubt I’ll ever buy a different brand again.
How do you try out saddles?
You might get lucky with your local bike shop and they’ll let you try some out. I bought a few saddles over the years and figured out what I like that way.
If you equip thinner tires (26mm) and a more aggressive stem, the difference in performance between your RoadMachine and a TeamMachine would most likely be negligible. Your bike with the slammed stem already has a more aggressive geometry than most people's "race" bikes with spacers on.
Bro. Where do you live? The roads look amazing!
Los Angeles! The city roads are trash, but once you ride just outside of the city… some of the best riding in the world. The Santa Monica Mountains are a gem
@@MitchBoyer man, I need to get down to SoCal more often. Last ride I did in SoCal was palos verdes and it was pretty amazing, but Malibu looks awesome. Keep up the great work with these videos 🤙🏽
Bmc ia always the best bike
Why would you upgrade on an entry level carbon bike?
Not out to offend anyone, just asking?
I dunno if I’d call a bike that comes standard with Ultegra “entry level,” but ultimately I upgraded because I wanted too 😜
If you want to get a race bike, you might like the BMC Timemachine Road.
My ultimate dream bike that I will never afford hahahah
The 2023 version is now $700 more expensive, and comes with 105 instead of Ultegra... sad time to be bike shopping 💀
Are there any others you recommend these days?
Original frame waaaow
A thing of beauty. Not diggin' the pizza cutters tho.
the team machine does all of the things a bit better. I found it more comfortable than the roadmachine and i bought one!
You should try a fully custom build. No off the shelf bike comes close.
Might have to give it a go for my next one!
@@MitchBoyer got a calfee, a pro bike fit and in 60 years of riding had an out of body experience.
Yeah but cost?
Commenting for the algorithm
I’ve owned a teammachine SLR01, I had to get used to a flat tire feeling of the rear wheel.
I heard that was a thing with the Teammachine. So compliant it feels like it's flat?
@@MitchBoyer yep, you get used to the feeling.Good bike but certainly not the best bike I’ve ever ridden as everything is personal.
@@simonwarmer8777 I'm curious, what's your favorite/best bike?
@@MitchBoyer
I‘ve I searched a long time for my favorite bike (second hand) because they don’t make them anymore.
S-Works Tarmac SL6 rimbrake DA DI2 9150 Zipp aero sl-70 handlebar 5.6 Enve wheels.
I like rimbrake, I’ve got 3 sets of wheels (as they go out of stock 😳)
Everything second hand, because rim brake is out of fashion.
Bike weighs 6.8 kg with pedals and 3.4’s, 7.0 with 5.6’s.
I seriously wouldn’t know what to upgrade on this bike, it rides fantastic, it corners like crazy, it speeds up fast and is comfortable and it brakes like hell (in dry weather).
Specialized isn’t my favorite company but they make great bikes ,imo.
@@simonwarmer8777 nice, you've got it dialed in! I've heard lots of good things about the Tarmac
