Awesome video I really enjoyed it. I don’t shoot outdoors at this time but it’s nice to see a video that explains the process of dialing in your sites. Thanks Jake
Last month I made a sight tape using 40 cm and 122 cm target faces, At the first field shoot I used the sight tape I wasn't satisfied with the results. Fortunately, I remembered you saying that shooting at a horizonal line produced better sight marks. I made another tape shooting at a 3/4" black tape line across the white side of an 80 cm target. I could see the line out to 70 yards. It is much easier to make fine adjustments shooting at a line rather than a circle.
Another great bit of knowledge, I am going to give this a go at our next session. You are slowly getting me to become a half decent archer. Thank you 🏹🏹🎯
Got a new and my first sight coming soon (I hope... been waiting 5 months!) Looking forward to putting this vid into practice. What a great spot you've got for shooting arrows.
Hi. Today for indor shooting 18m, 40cm target I have score 126/150 average per arrows 8.40. From 20/03/2022 I shooting barebow. Thanks to Jake Kaminski I have improoved my shooting. His advice are very good and I know it is going to be much better.
Hi Jake , great videos, I have question that is totally confusing me , I have sight mark for 20 yards which is roughly halfway down the sight so now I want to progress to farther distances which means set my sight lower so now I go to 30 then 40 but by now the slight is at the very bottom of the sight which means I can not progress any further say too 50 /60 because I have run out of sight adjustment, any ideas please Brian in the uk
My eyes are going, what do you recommend for recurve, my near sight is solid, so seeing pins is excellent, it the lining up with the target😖 enjoying your training video…. Ty in advance.
You need a level on that sight. Yes I know, not allowed in FITA. When we were shooting FITA many, many years ago we would tinker with our equipment a lot. We were always thinking of new ways to make a sight, new stabilizers, etc. The running joke was always "that would be neat, but somebody might complain that it could be used as a leveling device". And BTW we were shooting lower poundage and using heavier arrows at the same time, so to get 90 meters we would have to move our sight bars in pretty close to the riser. I made a short sight bar for this that was only about 3" long. On the other hand we had built some very long sight bars for 18M indoors that got our sight bars pretty far out there. Some of the girls on our team were shooting low poundage and had to put their sight bars on the face of the bow to get enough distance. (For readers not familiar with terminology- the "face" of the bow is the side towards the string, the "back" of the bow is the part towards the target.) When I lived in Dallas we had 2 local field archery ranges that looked a lot like your property there, but one of them had a lot of up and down. I shot field archery with my Hoyt recurve and later with a Jennings Arrowstar.
@@garymickus6412 My first FITA was around 1975 or so. I think I've only shot the full FITA 4 times. We were at the Vegas shoot in about 1976 and I had Earl Hoyt Jr. sign my bow.
Hi Jake, can you suggest the sight that has micro adjustment suitable for intermediate shooter? I am looking at WNS SPR-100 SIGHT right now. But not so sure about this.
Jake, What about those sight tapes that you sight in at one distance and the others are calculated for you? Are they close enough to hit the target bale?
There's free web sites that can calculate your site markings for you based on a couple your enter. I used to do your method which works but the calculators gave me a better starting point and I'd get dialled in a little bit quicker. I do 20m & 30m shoots which I diallin from educated guesses. Put those numbers in the calculator, then shoot the 40m, 50m & 60m marks it gives me. I make adjustments at each distance to which I'm happy. Punch all those markings and distances into the calculator again and they all should fall on a nice graph plot line. Any outliers, go and check that distance again. The calculator's can give you all the odd distances that you might shoot in field that you wouldn't in outdoor and saves you having to shoot all those 5m increments that you'd need on walk up.
What is the influence of wind at 30 to 40 meters with a 50lbs compound bow? do I stay within 60cm of the goal if I otherwise stay within the red with a less good shot? most arrows stay in yellow!
The only time I've lost an arrow yet is when I went from 40m to 18m and didn't move my sight mark, and at 28# draw, that sends the arrow clean over the target
Terribly sorry to bug you, Jake, but I've submitted a couple of "contact us" messages from your web site. Can you take a look and reply one way or the other?

Very useful advice. I hope my form is consistent enough to use this method.

You can then plot your sight markings on a graph and look for a smooth curve. Any sight markings that fall outside that curve go and recheck.

Hoyt Pro Medalist? I shot FITAs with it in the early 70’s.

Hi Jake, would you kindly tell me the poundage of your bow and the arrow weight? Thank you.

one question on the side, why do you move so much? 😅
Hi jack Do you use limb ibs?

Pay respect for all those broken arrows before we watched this video😢😢

Hey jake , is 2024 on the books for you ?
We are surprised to see someone who tells so many details😳...
Hi Jake
I am an Archer from India I have been facing issue with my chest outcome while drawing my bow
Need Help regarding that

Not only drag - also gravity I guess.
