the fact that they nerfed NORTON. the only character who can consistently counter ann, ivy, & hermit really puts into perspective the dynamic between hunter and survivor when it comes to game balance.

i hard agree actually, i think everyone’s in the same mindset of IDV during covid and people don’t realize metas CHANGE. hunters keep complaining that their average winrate isn’t 100% anymore but like, the closer both sides’ average winrates get to around 50% the MORE balanced the game is. if u want better then that, then u just need to be better or pick better characters. idk that’s just me
I would disagree because if you have to force a 50% winrate on hunters then the game isnt balanced because it mean the game is against you instead of you having a 50% winrate because of your own skill*. But yes the meta change though and thats something thats inevitable.
@@perceptionidv i mean i totally agree, i dont believe everyone should have a 50% winrate, LOL. I just mean that the average winrate becoming closer together is better for the game. in the past, it was rare to see a hunter w/ a lower then 80% winrate, at least in my experience, unless they were just bad (but that may have also been because i've been consistently griffin-alicorn for a very long time), while survs usually had a 20-40% winrate (if they were solo ranking, sometimes lower).
lots of hunters ive seen in chat etc are complaining abt having winrates of like 70%, which is still the vast majority of their matches, etc... idk if im making sense, but yk yk lol. nothings wrong w/ a hunter having a high winrate, just saying that the average lowering is a good sign(??) lol
The problem is, now hunters have 70% wr mostly against survs who don't even have a vc, which is the most damn important thing for a team game, and when it comes to upper tiers, wr drops even lower, ESPECIALLY if you don't live in China or US, because ping over 100 and new engine lag escalates difficulty tenfold
Like, in tournaments hunters can get a tie only if survs make 3+ terrible mistakes, while they themselves play immaculately. It's easier only with meta hunters like Ivy and Opera, because they rely much more on hunters own skill
exactly like the best wr you could get as a survivor that solo/duo queues is 65% ive never seen a survivor with a winrate above that so they need to quit crying fr
@@dr-weeb You're incorrect, sorry. In the recent tournament that i think ended today/yesterday, most sets didn't even reach a round three because of how dominate the hunters are vs the survivors. Survivors who have good game sense who end up together, even without VC, can perform well. If the hunter can't beat them, that's there own lacking of game sense, character choice, etc. If you play BQ against a weeping clown/merc and chase them first chase and expect to win, that's poor game sense on your part, and not the survivors fault for having an iota of skill and game sense. The game was survivor sided years ago, and now it's flipped. That's how games are.

also i feel like the hunters that are complaining are mad they'll have to actually use their brain and gamble on whether or not to swing, use skill or do absolutely nothing... like you shouldn't have too much of a problem if you're patient and unpredictable. he'll bring out good mind games from both the survivour and hunter side so its not just mind numbing easy 4ks in tournaments. (i've seriously given up on watching since its just the same picks and 4ks are so predictable now)
Knight doesn't seem to bother me that much as a hunter main you really can't keep complaining that your win rate isn't 100 yes there are going to be some players that are def going to destroy you but it's just a game get over it as someone who started as a beginner naiad all the way to B badge, I had constantly lost but you gotta adapt over time.
I've never really understood when people complain over a survivor or hunter that seems broken or strong. To me, when the Meta keeps staying on one side, it becomes boring. If there's no change in it, I won't even bother playing (in this instance) hunter because survivor side is more interesting to play. I get excited when a character comes out and seems to have an interesting and strong skill set, because I know it's going to be fun to rank again.
People who complain about this are mid to low tier. Knight doesn't even seem to be on the level of Anti, he just seems like a good A-tier character. Yet he's already being complained about.
So were you bored when the survivors were more meta up until like 2022? Or does that only apply to hunters. Real question.

He's not consistent so yea he'd be strong but not broken. We'll see how it goes tho. Non consistent characters aren't good for wins and mostly good for getting ties but for Knight it'd come down to the players so.. he can be a winning survivor if the player is in godmode lol. He could be a great tie character in my opinion but just like Embalmer and some other tie survivors, the winning conditions would depend on a lot of other stuff. His skills are VERY good but it's also a 50-50 so like the guy above said someone like Anti is still much better, or even Priestess for support if she's available. And we need to see his cooldown first tbh. People jump to conclusions right away for both hunters and survivors before seeing the cooldown and also ignoring the fact that they can nerf them before and even after release lol. Can't wait for the test server!

Journalist is bad and i play her, most of the times hunters dont even get hit by my little bro when i try to pallet stun or when i need to rescue. yea she can be viable but still awful at best.

I think knight will give hunters who are more simple and straightforward, geisha, ann, ripper, bonbon and hermit, a harder time and they’ll actually have to think about what they’re gonna do rather than just being predictable.

All I see when I play rank or watch tournament is ivy/opera, it’s about time survivors got a broken survivor! As a survivor main, I’m so excited for him. Hunters constantly complain about it being survivor sided, but lately it really isn’t. Overall hunters always have 70+ wr, whereas most survivors I see are barely ever 50+
But also survivors have teammates to rely on, if you’re ranking solo usually your wr will be lower depending on ur winrate. Hunters usually have higher winrates because they depend on themselves so what’s your point, that doesn’t even make sense. So if a hunter has a low winrate that makes the game survivor sided ?
@@notinuseanymore8673 I’m saying that the current meta is hunter sided no doubt. And the fact that hunters can rely on themselves for the win, having terrible randoms on the team is a reason for low wrs. Survivors are constantly receiving nerfs but people like bane and Ann are impossible to beat
Also I want to note that with hunters have unlimited abilities unlike some survivors who have limited abilities after 2/3 uses. I notice hunters like ivy and opera try to waste the survivors resources early and surivors get snowballed later or stuck at 1 cipher left because they simply can’t kite without items. That’s why I think survivors with regenerative abilities like prospector etc will be more viable in the future with this current meta.

100% agree. I’ve always said this (ITS NOT THE CHARACTERS, ITS THE PERSON PLAYING THE CHARACTERS) if yall can’t hunt or learn to hunt, maybe even try out new hunters? Then it’s a YOU issue. Most of the hunters that have come to the game, has gotten some speed or A to B type abilities (A to B?) yes when a hunter can go from point A to Point B, naiad can dash, night watch can dash, shadow can tp, opera singer can speed herself to the destination, fools gold can throw his axe to go far, and now Goatman? TP with his cages. Lol come on now.
There are so many hunters I think need nerfs way more than any current survs. Like hermit. Insane cipher pressure, consistent hits thanks to rechargable stuns, and spread damage. It’s ridiculous how he thrives in every part of hunter control.
Hermits chase is super slow. His hitbox sucks. Just loop with no presence lol. Hermit is balanced .

As a hunter main, I agree full heartedly. If we assume these rebuttals to be 100% true from x, the list is still super short… Hunters in tourney can simply ban that list and win without using a lot of brain power. In Ivs yesterday, Persica cooked with seer, and once Persica had to be surv again… guess who the hunter banned…? SEER. Just because A SINGULAR character is good does not mean you have other good options. It’s wild to me us hunters are getting more good options than survivors when we hunters have more bans… survivors need more broken characters so us hunter can’t ban them all. That should be the point no?

Ever since I stopped maining Dw and Antonio (which I regret and hopefully will learn again soon). I have gotten so brain dead with Ann and Bq. I feel so dumb knowing I had so many amazing strategies up my sleeve that I can’t even comprehend anymore… Bring Knight in here, I really want to counter and learn what I do that I don’t even realise is predictable 😈

I lost to sprintzer once and its just easy to to manipulate the hitbox into not hitting the doofy.

Because a lot of survivor mains solo rank so obviously if ur not with a team you’re not gonna do very well. Hunter players only rely on themself, this should seem simple enough but apparently it’s not

I believe the reason people kept bringing up survivors like Anti, Aeroplanist, Puppeteer, and Fin is because you only specified viable hunters as a justification for making a broken survivor. If we were to speak only in terms of hunters being so broken as to completely redefine the meta long term, I would argue Opera Singer and Ivy are the only hunters that fit that criteria. Sure, other hunters that were released since COA 6 have had their place in the meta spotlight, but that's more a result of the 1v4 nature of IDV, not necessarily because the hunters were inherently broken. Clerk may have been strong in her time, but she can't really be called tournament viable nowadays. It's been about the same for most other post COA 6 hunters (save for maybe Fool's Gold, the Faro Lady of hunters). As of the current meta, Opera, and Ivy have cemented their place as round 1/2 hunters, with the rest being relegated to round 3 at best. Heck, for all I know, Ivy might fall off at some point in the near future, leaving Opera as the lone broke tier hunter.
I admittedly also fell prey to the thought process of considering my Twitter rebuttal in terms of, "but there have also been tournament viable survivors introduced since COA 6." However, I also brought up Fool's Gold as a potential rebuttal for a couple other things in your tweet. The first one I did manage to get to is that Fool's Gold breaks the pattern of all hunters being strong on release since Clerk. Sure for some (especially lower rank players), it felt like he was pretty powerful at first. But that's because the playerbase didn't have any practical experience playing against him since he was a brand new character, and the ability showcase made him look very impressive. Soon after release, once people got a proper understanding of his power, he was ultimately judged to be a pretty weak hunter overall. And this leads to a second point I wasn't able to get to in my initial Twitter reply. Richard may look broken, but that's a judgment based purely on a showcase trailer that's meant to make him look good. He could very well be much less powerful than anticipated once players can get practical experience playing with him. This isn't a certainty, but between, FG, Cheer, and Puppet, the playerbase hasn't had the most accurate first impressions of new characters. Players thought FG and Cheer were broken when they weren't. And Puppeteer may have appeared weak at first, but his tanking abilities have proven to be very useful for extending kites. (It also doesn't help that he has since been buffed, so that he can tank more damage per use of Louis. Even if he technically wasn't broken on release, he may as well be broken now.)
Overall, I don't entirely agree with the justification given for why it's okay for Richard to be broken. Because the meta isn't really Hunter sided, it's Opera sided. And introducing a new broken survivor isn't going to fix the balance. It just means that most hunters aside from Opera are going to have a harder time chasing survivors, especially lower tier hunters like Nightmare, FG, Antonio, Jack, and the like. It limits the meta by pressuring Hunter players to stick with the most powerful options as a way to counter the more powerful survivors, rather than experiment with less powerful hunter options.

Also this coming from a low tier, but every time ur put in a low tier match (speaking from experience ofc) the level difference between the hunter and the survivors is usually hugeeee since the assumption is that 1 survivor will carry the whole round since they're high level. Anywhooo still love the game but sometimes frustrating to go against lvl 120 as a lvl 20
I dont even think he’s broken. His skill is a flipcoin and we don’t know if he has a super long cool-down on it. For all we know it could be professor level cooldowns which would make him bad. Especially if he fails to guess the hunters actions and still gets hit. Also his skill seems to have a range before he can use it so hunters like Ann, bq, reptilian, goatman where they use their skills from afar wouldn’t be affected since they use their skills at a distance to catch up or hit. The only thing I like about him is his unique rescue ability

If you want to play for a WR, then get a team and sweat, why do hunters have to sacrifice their nerves just so randos can have even more fun even without being actually skilled? As a hunter main who also loves to play surv with friends, I think man’s is speaking facts a lot- I do personally not like the idea of knight (the idea of him being in duos scares the life outta me lol) but I’m pretty sure the best way to counter him is just to do what they don’t expect you to do and I think it’s not that hard, I don’t think- then again I’m not a hunter main ON twitter so like I guess my opinion probably doesn’t matter since I’m not that braindead 🤕

Interesting how you included some of the weakest arguments to be able to compile into a video without showing off some of the more stronger arguments against that post. Almost like you wanted to paint the whole community like idiots for believing *check notes* broken characters are not okay for the game. I understand that the game has been tilted more towards the Hunters favor this year, but I feel like that shouldn't take away that they still released extremely strong survivors in the meta and the old meta survivors are still meta. Adding more broken survivors is not gonna fix this issue, only make it worse.
What “weak” arguments did I include if my whole argument from the jump was comparing the quality of survivors compared to quality of hunters.
@ZeusIDV Comparing character quality currently does not really factor in how those character qualities were at the time of release, imo. Yes, characters like Composer aren't really strong against a lot of the Hunters in the current meta. However, at that time when the Hunter meta consisted of Clerk, Dream Witch, Wax Artist, and maybe BQ/Sculptor, having a character with a built in speed boost on demand was actually pretty strong. Composer had a decent answer for these Hunters, which is why he is considered a strong release. It wasn't until characters like Opera and Ithaqua got added alongside movement Hunters like Gamekeeper, Ann, Alva, and Geisha rising in the meta that Composer truly fell off. That's also ignoring the characters who have stayed in the meta after release, such as Anti, Aeroplanist, Cheerleader, Puppeteer, and Fire Investigator. These characters may not be the definition of "broken," but they had tools that makes it so they can survive in the meta extremely well. Aeroplanist is a great example of it, his item being so good that they had to nerf it and, even after the nerf, he's still played a lot. You can cope all you want about it, but Anti has not fallen off to any stretch of the imagination. If she had truly fallen off, she wouldn't be the most banned survivor in competitive right now alongside being able to hold her own still when she 3 cipher kited that Ann in IVS. And that's not getting into the can of worms that is the older characters like Dancer, Magician, Barmaid, and Gardener. Characters who may not breach the top tiers like the meta survivors, but are still good enough to hold their own in tournament and in your typical rank sessions. All Knight's inclusion will do is motivate NetEase to try and create a Hunter meant to combat him alongside even more of the current meta, which will only further the power creep and make the experience for both sides even more insufferable.
If we are talking quality for the time them some of them didnt even get that, composer wasnt even used during coa6, Anti also has fallen off simply because there is more counter play compared to what there was back then(similar with clerk). As well the idea of ranked this ranked that is irrelevant when all the devs care for is competitive and nothing more. I only care about comp and how characters will be utilized in the meta for competitive. Ranked is ranked you can do whatever you want to do in that shit and win. For competitive which imo is the only thing that matters for this game since it is what determines balance changes 95% of the time, knight being a character that is looking like a must ban or you get punished is fine for tournaments. Especially since there arent multiple characters like him running around.
@ZeusIDV I feel like that's still ignoring a lot of the nuances. Anti has not fallen off, even against the wider Hunter roster that is out there. A lot of the Hunters in this meta are basic hit Hunters alongside Hunters who can stun, Hunters Anti can properly deal with thanks to her stun and her disarm. Not to mention, if it's a Hunter she won't be able to use much stuns again, she still has her flip and 5% speed to be able to help her contain for far longer. The only reason you don't see her in comp is either because the team needs a certain survivor for the situation or, most commonly, she was banned by the Hunter. That's ignoring all the Antiquarians we saw in IVS perform really well against the Hunter roster. Even Ann, who is hypothetically her biggest counter, still struggled to catch Anti. As for NetEase only focusing on comp, that's just not true. Sure, there are some decisions that have been influenced by comp, but you can see a plethora of other situations where that's not the case. The best example of this being both Weeping Clown and Geisha. These are characters who weren't influenced by tourney, but were instead influenced by rank. Weeping Clown's buff wasn't even in official tourney until IVS, however they still nerfed him because he was performing really well. Additionally, Geisha was the most banned Hunter over in CN in rank. She was the most banned Hunter in all tiers and that's what motivated the devs to give her a slight nerf. In fact, I am 100% convinced that the reason for Puppeteer's drastic buff was not because of his tourney stats, but because of his rank stats. They do watch tourneys and do changes depending on tourneys, such as removing collision from downed survivors, but they usually use rank stats to dictate balance, not just comp. As for the Composer point, I do think it was just a situation where the meta was so solved, they didn't want to gamble using Composer. It's the same reason why we only saw Lawyer played by ZT during COA 6. Lawyer was good, but the meta was so solved that players didn't want to bring Lawyer. To me, Composer was a pretty strong survivor, but ultimately fell off once Ithaqua released in February and the Opera later. Players probably didn't want to experiment with Composer, probably because of his cooldown, maybe because of his lack of calibrations, or maybe because they felt he would've been boxed up immediately by the newer Hunters. There are some points I can't defend and often scratch my head at, like saying Journalist is a strong character release, but I do feel a lot of these arguments requires a lot of looking into. The problem with talking about the meta, especially towards the larger community, is that there is too much nuance in both comp and normal play and that's often the reason why opinions differ so drastly. What I do know, however, is that broken characters should not be a thing that should be praised or welcomed imo. They often set the standard for the meta going forward, forcing character changes to keep up with the expanding meta or leaving more and more characters behind to suffer. It's not healthy game balance and makes the experience worse. I guess it doesn't matter in the end because, if the Knight changes turn out to truly be broken, NetEase will just nerf him before release, like they've done for the majority of characters in this game. This is just my opinion, though, and you're free to disagree with it if you want
The only thing I don't agree with is the 2022 hunter statement. Fool's gold and hermit are NOT tournament viable, I've seen them in tournaments but most of their matches are losses. Hermits in ivl barely got a tie.
Apart from that I agree, I prefer hunter but we've gotten ivy and sangria so I'm not complaining.

I think all survivors and hunters are good. With all of them having their own situations in wich some of them are better then the others and people are looking wich charachter can do better in most situations.Just like a saying goes " a jack of all trades but a master of none" or a master in a certain category.

You can probably counter the recuse by knowing when knight is gonna recuse and you basically just stand near him and if you still have blink you can easily blink him when he’s in that recuse thing or whatever plus he’s needs to be near the chair it’s not like he can do that far away. So you just force him to recuse normally
Leo, Smiley, Naiad, Robbie, Wu Chang, Joseph, Mad eyes, Mary, Percy... That's only off the top of my head. His skill only works when he's in range of a hunter, and that's assuming he can react to teleports and stuff like that. People are assuming he always gets the 50/50 (or 33/33/33) guess correct and that's why he seems so insane. People complained about Charles for his insane movement because they assumed he'd always get full forward bursts, or thought anti was 50x more broken because they thought she'd land every stun. He's good but not as absolutely insane as people think.

I think saying that older hunters "running shit" is an issue when we have survs who haven't dropped out of the meta practically since their release *over 5 years ago* is a bit hypocrital
I never said I had an issue with it, it simply the developers not wanting to do it, As well im not saying older characters should not be utilized but we shouldn’t be surprised when the newer characters are better then older characters.
@@ZeusIDV Newer character's shouldn't be catch all characters who are fundementally over the top, same with opera, same with ivy.
Issue is that newer survs are making older hunters disproportionatly weak, opera being as busted as she isn't shouldn't mean we drop a surv that now makes jack or wu chang THAT much worse.
I wouldn't call the game hunter sided either, it's opera sided because she does *far too much, far too easily* the response isn't dropping a surv that does everything or buffing survs to be broken either, it's nerfing the top tiers to a base level where people don't lose their mind playing against them. I play most hunters and survs and I wouldn't call the game hunter sided when wu chang/hastur/jack/leo outright suffer in most matches while opera and ivy 450 splash survs most of the time.
A few people I know who don't like him dislike him for a similar reason to puppeteer getting buffed, which is we're powercreeping too fast and doing too little to characters lacking "timeless" kits.
No one is surprised he's better than older characters, people are surprised at the sheer amount of stuff he can do by himself which needs to be taken into account with the other survs potentially supporting him.

And I see where you're coming from with the whole wanting a new meta, and tilting the game back into the survivors favor HOWEVER.
We shouldn't ignore the large disparity in the strength of hunters, and likewise with survivors, cool we have knight who's MAYBE broken and can serve the purpose of shaking up the meta, but should this cycle repeat we're just gonna have a bunch of pointless/overlooked characters who'll rarely see play. Which is currently happening, which is why we only see the same four to five hunters, which is why we should embrace characters being GIGA BUFFED, so they can keep up to speed with whatever the current meta of the game is, obviously this cannot apply to everyone but the best you can do is give them adjustments at least.
Regardless I don't agree with the whole "this character is old and dated, therefore they shouldn't be meta".
YUPPPP YUP this is exactly what i came here to say. I dont care what people r thinkin, the game right now having only a small variety of hunters being good and able to get a 4k is dumb rn man. It makes the game boring for both factions. I think the game is most fun when old characters get buffed, as u said. When lawyer got buffed, that was super fun and we need to see more of that not only in old survs but old hunters too. We keep getting new survs that have overwhelming abilities and then no hunters that can counteract said abilities, besides ivy i guess, but shes super complex to play. People wonder why the hunter pool in na/eu and asia is so low, and characters like Knight are the reason why. Theres not a balance.

i mean i dont really care to me its nothing sided because meta changes every season but lets be real there r only 2 meta hunters for now they barely play anything else if they r not banned. And on the other hand survs can play almost any survivor
Survivors cant play anything else because once you play one thing it can get countered, winning in tourneys isnt just about which side wins a half, draws and what hunters excel at getting draws also matter

I really don't agree especially with the thing being said about older characters falling out of the meta. Because when you look at the old survivor that are still very good to this day you have:
Lawyer, gardener, coordinador, mercenary, priestess (idc what you say about her being an easy chase, she can just spawn in a good area and then you're not gonna chase her and she'll cook you with her support or you can try chasing her but she can kite within that strong area just like any survivor), perfumer, female dancer, seer, embalmer, prospector, acrobat, first officer, barmaid. While these survivors may not be broken in your definition, they're still very good to use in most situations.
When you look at the old hunters you have:
Gamekeeper (got nerfed), geisha (got nerfed), soul weaver (only because of the recent buff) and Ann.
Other are either only tie hunters or struggle to even get the tie.
I also don't think it's in neteases best interest to bench these old characters because they already have a big fanbase of people who'll be pulling for their skins and cosmetics.
I think the main problem is that hunters have proportionally less variety in viable hunters. Netease has been trying to be more balanced with the newer releases of hunters that are mostly strong with some exceptions (fool's gold) and survivors equally strong with also some exceptions. The problem is that the hunters have only been getting good now while survivors have been always good. And these new survivors are a real pain for the people who have invested in and enjoy the older hunters.
@@TrashArtist89 most of the hunters that you said got nerfed got minuscule nerfs that didnt affect them hardcore. Second spawning in a good area doesnt mean anything to professional players, if you are easy chase they will chase you regardless. Third with the way bans work out for hunters they have a plethora of options to draw at minimum
@@ZeusIDV maybe but the fact that we barely saw gamekeeper in recent tournaments despite him dominating in the coa says something. I'm not a professional but if professionals are not picking him very often anymore it means that the nerf wasn't so miniscule. (I mean I'm not complaining, I absolutely hate gamekeeper but it's a loss for the hunter mains out there) as for geisha it was a really small nerf but still. As for the spawn selection.. I kinda found it funny how in recent tournaments the professional players usually didn't chase the prisoners that spawned in the strong areas. And the ban system in tournaments is pretty interesting. In later rounds a lot of good survivors are already global banned so it gives the hunter (who can't play the two most busted hunters in game anymore) chance to ban specific survivors that counter the weaker hunter they're going to play. That's tournaments but if we look at rank you can only ban 2 survivors. So hunters who don't play Opera or Ivy (or goatman [I think he's really strong imo]) are gonna have a rough time trying to get better than a draw. That's just what I mean. There will always be that hardcore Leo main that can grind to s1 with 99,99% wr but that's just exceptions. People with weaker hunters are just gonna struggle getting into the higher tiers. Meanwhile with survivors it's like as long as you pick one of the 'good' survivors the difficulty getting into the higher ranks will be more or less the same (although generally probably more difficult because there are randoms as a factor)
@TrashArtist89 well for one in the most recent tournament gk was played quite a bit, second welcome to power creep where characters who are older do worse against modern characters, happens in every game
@@ZeusIDV we're back when we started.. so this power creep can happily affect the older hunters but not survivors. Ok got it :) in my first comment I mentioned many old survivors that are still super viable and only four viable old hunters. Which even tho there's generally less hunter characters is still super low number.
And if knight turns out to be broken (can't judge rn) then the number might drop even more.

No offense but this doesn't prove your argument. Many people uses hooks or uses stuff like that to catch the viewers attention and to make them want to watch them. We learn literally learn this in English in high school. Many UA-camrs use wording like that in UA-cam videos. Zeus has been using captions like this for years now. "The rise of clerk" or "the downfall of yan" or some thing like that. He doesn't just use it on survs but for hunters and for pro players. You can look at his Collab videos (with zeez) or other videos like that. 😭😭This doesn't prove anything.
