For the last couple of months I have been manually emptying my bin. I tried all of the suggestions from Roomba. Nothing worked. The app no longer offered the option to empty the bin. I guess my husband was tired of me complaining and surprised me with a new one. We moved the broken one to our basement but I just could not give up on it. Finally I saw your video my husband pulled it all apart and brushed out all the dust, cleaning the sensors. Florence finally empties again. Thank you! Roomba should really add this video to their help list! Now I have an extra clean house with 2 roombas 😂
I see your Roomba has a name, too. Mine I simply call "Novia" and so does my assistant. I'm disabled and can't do without my novia (girlfriend for you non Spanish speakers) but even after going through the process of what Papa Joe has recommended, it hasn't ended the problem of not automatically emptying, nor of giving me the option of doing so manually. In other words, the app on my smart phone no longer shows that option as it always had before. Back to the drawing board because I can't be without a functioning novia.
My wife, who says I spend too much time on UA-cam, said the Roomba wasn't emptying automatically. So I turn to UA-cam and this video of yours is the first I came across. Bingo! Our Rhoomba 8 is restored. I am very grateful . words cannot describe how helpful this has been. If you have the same non emptying issues do this, it actually works
I dont write comments on YT videos but this guy solved my 1 year long problem. Mine stopped vacuuming at the base, cleaned everything except the bumper. Took a air duster and solved the issue !! thanks my man! You're the hero of the year for me.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! This did the trick. Bin now automatically empties and the "empty bin" button has reappeared on my app. You're a genius!
Thank you. iRobot support kept telling me to clean the “bin” sensors. Of course that never resolved the problem. Followed your instructions and fixed it within 10 minutes.
I was skeptical, TBH, but also weary of the manual bin emptying. But this worked! What in the world does cleaning those areas have to do with the auto-emptying?! A thousand thanks, sir!
You bet, and yes, it seems bizarre to me as well… I’m guessing the sensors behind there tell the base station that it has arrived, and it’s time to empty the bin.
Behind that bumper there are a series of infrared LEDs that on mine were caked with dust and the windows that they shine through were caked with dust from the inside. My theory is that it looks for a reflection of those LEDs in the base station to trigger it to know that its "home"
This worked perfectly! I have been manually emptying my bin for months now and sometimes it would skip the job if I left for the day and forgot to empty it, and that was incredibly annoying. This fixed it immediately and now it’s operating as normal. Thank you!
Thank you! I too just used an air blower and that totally worked. I needed a little blower anyway for work, and I don't like using this cans of air, so I bought a little rechargeable air blower. It is strong and enough for my needs and blew out lots if dust from the front if the Roomba, and now it self empties again. Thank you so much for your video. I had tried replacing all the accessories and even bought official irobot bin bags thinking that was the issue. I cleaned the sensor to the dust bin, and nothing worked.
Thank you. It worked! I've been trying to fix this issue for months. Today I finally got tired of emptying the bin by hand, so I decided to search UA-cam for the answer. Yours was the first I found and it worked. Thank you again.
Holy cow Best Buy was gonna charge us $500-$600 to fix our issue. We took our Roomba home with “we will just get another one for that price” found your video and it Totally worked!!!
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I was this close to buying a new rumba or something else like it. Your solution took a lot of my frustrations away. Right now it’s going to work in the kitchen. Greg
Another fix for a cause of this problem I have not yet seen mentioned anywhere: The rubber green entry/exit at the bin bottom (behind the brushes) can very easily by accident get pushed inward e.g. while cleaning or picking up the unit, causing that rubber to no longer make air tight contact with the base. And it’s not visibly ‘wrong’ unless you know how it’s supposed to be. That flap folded inward will cause emptying of the bin by the base to fail, with the same ‘clogged’ message. Even if your unit is totally clean and clear. Use a small screw driver to carefully flip the green rubber outward back in place, so it is is fully visible and on the outside surface. It’ll make good contact with the base and bobs your uncle.
Omg, thank you! I was having the same problem (mine is also about three years old) and I was seriously contemplating buying a new one for Prime day. But this worked! Glad I can get some extra use out of it!
Thank you! I fixed my roomba not emptying bin problem, but I didn't unscrew anything, I just blew the dust in the bumper part as you showed on the video and it worked!
Thank you! I've been fighting with my robot for months! I gave up its been sitting in the corner forgotten about, just started messing with it again this morning, tried everything again.... Went to UA-cam found your video, 10 minutes later it worked! Thank you!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

iRobot wanted $300 to fix this issue on a 26 month old product 😡. Took me about 20 minutes to solve a 6 month problem using this video. ❤
Glad it helped you. 👏🏻
