For my electrics i just use my air compressor and a tooth brush with some wd40 at the end to give it a shine. For my nitros i do a complete tear down and clean everything by hand. You have grown so much since i have last looked at your channel, congrats!
CorrosionX doesn't hurt anything. I use it everywhere... Any joint area.. bearings.. I spray it right inside of my receivers. Totally waterproofs everything
I hit mine with air hose first to minimize how much water I need to spray on it. After washing I use leaf blower. The air is dryer than from compressor and moves more air which I find better at blasting off water.
I run mine through the wet grass then hot water in my shower to get it all off. I don't have many so I don't have a problem rinsing mine in my bathtub yet. I was considering the dbxl-e but i really want another sbr2.0
Try some Maxima SC1 spray after its clean and dry. The stuff is amazing, makes the body look new as well as all plastic. It protects and makes everything a bit water resistant and makes cleaning easier because dirt doesnt stick as easily. It even smells good, lol. Just be carerful with overspray in the house, it will make most flooring slippery as hell. I found this out the hard way
I've been using Grios garage ceramic coating spray on my trucks after I wash them. It's kind of like spraying them down with WD40 without the greasy mess! Literally nothing sticks to my plastic/metal and the shine is awesome.
Living in Eastern Tennessee we deal with water a lot I do the same thing that you do except for I use WD40 on my bearing it displaces water also for my diff I used blue marine Grease
Almost the same way. I spray simple green over it all first, let it soak a bit then rinse and brush. Then it stands in front of heater to dry and warm up abit. When ready a light coat of wd40 over the hole car. I fount it to largely reduce squeaky hinges.
That is such an interesting cleaning regimen. One thing I would worry about with the Simple Green at the end is having a solid residue left on the shock stanchions, and maybe some other negative effects of having that residue over everything. But hey, it seems to working for you. Thanks for sharing. The technique I do, which I picked up from ShenRC, is water-less: #1) Air hose #2) Vigorously brush all over with a soft-bristle paint brush that's been sprayed lightly with WD40 #3) Air hose again #4) Wipe off any excess WD40 with paper-towels. Works pretty good for me so far.
The seals on these little bearings are actually really interesting. If you look at one under magnification it doesn't look like what you would expect a normal seal to look like. It almost looks like a double lip seal but the outer lip faces neither in or out. They're usually almost straight across. I think this is designed to primarily keep foreign material out as it rests almost on the edge of the bearing race. The inner part of the seal doesn't stick out as far but I believe that is what's designed to keep the grease in. In an application I guess it's more important to keep foreign material out because the grease will naturally want to migrate away from the center so it's a lot less likely it will try to escape.
The biggest tip I have for people washing off their cars is to wash them off, then blow them off with compressed air and finally most importantly put them in front of a fan to finish drying. Set them on end and turn them every half hour so. This accelerates the drying process and helps prevent water from seeping into little looks and crannies and rusting things
***If you run your RCs away from home, get a 2 gallon garden pump sprayer and take it with you. Way easier to spray the car down while its still wet and muddy and you dont get that crap all over your trunk or back seats. The pressure is enough to clean but not blast bearings and seals.
I can hose the body off. Tires too. I have a hard time hosing down the electronics and bearings though. I know they’re supposed to be waterproof, but I don’t risk it. I won’t run my rc’s in water either though. If you get to it right after a dirty run I’ve always had good luck going straight to compressed air. Still avoiding the bearings.
Simple green foaming crystal is the best for cleaning them! If you haven't used it before I highly recommend it. I use the water hose on all of my trucks except the tires, it gets inside and ruins the foams😩
It would be priceless for moments like that if our animals could talk, I wonder what kind of lovely names our pets would call us after a hose treatment or when you scare the shit out of them...!?
My. Cleaning tools Water hose with nozzle to focus location( outside body and bottom of chassis only) Leaf blower WD 40 on screws, chassis bottom and body away from bearings Big brush and tooth brush, cloth rag Simple green every where
AWWWWWH ,,,, YES ,,,!!! Air compressor is a very needed item in this hobby , I just blew up the one I had for ten years , went and got a new one the same day , and yes you can blow seals right out of a bearing I've done it accidentally , it's easy to do , and I always put wd40 on plastics and let it soak till next run , wipe it off before running , or everything sticks to it
Joe I do the exact same thing!! Simple green is a dream!! I buy simple green by the gallons haha and fast Eddy loves me!! Joe do you ever do a slight coat of WD 40? It is a water displacement.... I do
if its to cold outside to run a hose and ya dont have a strong enough air compressor a shower w detachable shower head an a hair drier/ or box fan work well too
Garden hose. Sooner the better, usually comes right off. Even my, not so waterproof vehicles, get the hose. Systems off w batteries unplugged of course. Then I place it on the dehumidifier in the basement for a couple hours. Like brand new, no but clean enough I can check for out of place and or broken things and work on em w/o getting mud all over my bench. Nitros, for 20 years, black top only, if it's running nice and rich the way I want it's most likely blowin' oil all over it's self. Messy, messy, messy. Gets really bad I will use simple green. Yuk. Love nitro..... But what a f'in mess
I clean mine in my soaking tub never take a bath in it I’d rather take a shower, but I have a huge soaking tub that’s how I wash mine, then with air blow it off, then I set it up on my little blocks and run it seems to get the water out of the bearings pretty good then I sprayed it all down good with Moo-Slick
I hate that they say it's water proof but yet keep wholes in the rims so u can f them up. Fix it Traxxas. Axial. Losi .Tamiya. Armma...ect....wer 2 lazy 2 tape all the Damm time have a grate day 🤣🤣🤣✌🌍👋🥁🥁
Unfortunately not everybody has a nice backyard and a place to clean their cars some of us live in apartments or condos and we have to use the resources we have so yes sometimes I wash mine in the bathtub but not just soak it down I also separate the tires from the car and clean those separately
Most apartment blocks have water spigots outside no? I would talk to the super and just have a short length of hose as part of my kit and rinse it off before I went into the building.
Creek cleans them great, flush everything with Wd n roll on hear some grinding replace bearings.. lol hrs to clean minutes to destroy, run it do random cleaning (none) maintenance is key who cares what it looks like no beauty queens here,
Loved you spraying the cat! A little stimulation is a good thing. He's your buddy! Gotta give your buddy or you kids for that matter a little spray now and again to keep it lively and fun. Actually that was a little to light of a sprinkle IMHO, ha ha. Thanks Joe for all you share with us. R
Meow...I trusted you!! : )

Thank you buddy
I clean mine by taking them out for another rip to knock all of the dirt loose! 😀
I'm a big fan of simple green and it's also safe around kids and dogs
Thanks for this video. I clean ours the same way
Funny I was more worried about the ESC than the bearings. Nice rig and its good to see it so well taken care of.
So its ok to wet the ESCof cause not for long periods but to clean this is ok ???

Been cleaning my modded max same way for years and never had a issue and i mudd bog with it
I use a hair drier to dry it out then spray with silicone.
Hair dryer, yeah that’s makes perfect sense. Warm/hot air helps to dry. Nice tip!

Cleaning time is a very good inspection time.
super clean is that flex seal

Try simple green foaming crystals industrial cleaner!!
It's great to be able to wash around in water.

I used to use it on my dirtbikes and it def made the fork seals drag. Maybe not a huge deal on small RC shock shafts but good to look out for.
I do the following:
1. Spray down with water
2. compressed air
3. light WD-40 coat on all surface
4. compressed air.

I need to put my glasses on for that!

This is very true. Once it’s dried it’s more of a job to clean it up.
CorrosionX is really good. Might wanna try it. Great for everything.
Doesn’t mess with anodized parts?
👍😁 i use simple green & only air! WD-40 after dry completely.
Water, especially here will get inside the bearing seals & gets rid of grease/oil in the bearing balls. Then bearing replacement happens.
I can hose the body off. Tires too. I have a hard time hosing down the electronics and bearings though. I know they’re supposed to be waterproof, but I don’t risk it. I won’t run my rc’s in water either though.

On these trucks I seal the tires to keep the water and sand out.
@@ExocagedRC I seal all my tires/wheels now for my conditions😆
Let's see your bearing colection and how u store them
I swear by using a big box fan to get things dry after a run or cleaning. Set it and forget it, it gets the water off!
It would be priceless for moments like that if our animals could talk, I wonder what kind of lovely names our pets would call us after a hose treatment or when you scare the shit out of them...!?

Oh yeah, I use either purple power or Castrol super clean, spray on wait 5 minutes and rinse, no scrubbing necessary
Hahaha poor sam!

LoL it was a light sprinkle

Wife would kill me if y used the tub
LoL I’ve seen people post pics of that
Hahaha
Horrible chassis design to accumulate dirt. My Xmaxx and Maxx stay way cleaner through way deeper terrain
Why would you upgrade an amazing car like that literally ruin the looks and gueniune look of it
