Mozart: Missa brevis in B flat major K.275 (Orch. Philharmonique de Radio France/Radio France Choir)

Rinaldo Alessandrini conducts the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France and the Radio France Choir performing Mozart's Missa brevis in B flat major K.275. Excerpt from the Christmas concert performed at the Radio France Auditorium on 22 December 2018.
Much of Mozart's religious music was composed before his twenty-fifth birthday, a time when the young man worked as a church musician for the Prince-Archbishopric of Salzburg. Sixteen masses were composed during this period, before his move to Vienna in 1781. Despite their functional and "circumstantial" character, these compositions contain some of Mozart's most accomplished ideas, only to be eclipsed by the later unfinished works from his Viennese period (the Great mass in c minor and the Requiem).

I love this missa, I sung it with my choir about 20 years ago, I still remember most of it without needing to read the sheets. One of the most rewarding pieces I've ever sung ;)

Bien Mozartien, bien enlevé mais absolument aucun recueillement ni aucune espèce de trace de religiosité, si les textes n'étaient pas en latin on pourrait se croire à l'Opéra. Donc hors-sujet. La foi chrétienne de Mozart n'est pas une tare qu'on doit gommer absolument, elle fait partie intégrante des hommes de l'époque et de sa musique.
