This song brings me happy memories when life was fun and full of love and adventure. Makes me want to get up and dance like in my carefree days! How I miss those days. If there any young ones listening to this, be responsible but enjoy life to the fullest or life will past you up to fast. When we get old and have ill health all we will have are our memories left. Thanks "D" Train for the good times.
I was a running back in high school in 83’ and thereafter at a division 1 school. Played this before each game on Walkman. Broke the state record for rushing, All-American in College. It was D-Train that turned up the temperature.
Virginia Grandy In the late 90s we came from germany to spain to djing same of this kind of stuff and the did not liked it.Mixed with real house?techno etc the did NOT liked it.So i gived up music.
+Neptun Posidon You should NOT have given up on music simply because they didn't like it. Music is universal, & there are millions of people all over the world who would have appreciated it. If that was something that you really enjoyed doing, then you continue to do it, & find other people who will love just as much as you do. My question to you is did you enjoy the music?
I love this song!! 80s gal here!! Now, I am battling a health condition, and this song makes me forget about the pain!! I just wanna dance with a good man, a dance partner in life forever! Lord have mercy on me!! Send him soon!! One Love!! xoxo :)

Love this story I just read about it this summer since my first boyfriend passed away and we loved d-train so I’ve been listening straight for like 6 weeks. It makes sense he was a football player, the rhythm, his style matches the game.
I bought this album as a kid, I am 47 now and this track means more to me now than I ever could imagine!, this makes me feel warm inside....thanks for upload!
Another WKTU Classic a "Jammy" for all the Skaters, Roxy, Skating Palace, Stars, and too many to mention in the NYC from back in the day & both parks Central & Washington Square ....sweat pants, Chams de Baron shirts, jumpin' dancin' movin' & groovin' to this one slammin' jam...."Mmmm she looks good "hey you wanna skate just hold y hand a we'll go faster" ....Ahhhhh yeaaaa...35 years have gone by and this song still Kix...Pace 2 ya who remember
My cousin from Brooklyn New York came to visit us in Chicago we had a block party he turn it out with this song we had people coming from all over to the party good times miss those days!!!
Music at its Best! So glad I was born in a time to hear & appreciate real music like this. Sad it is a time that will never come back. All we could do is pass it on & hope future generations keep it alive...
When I used to go to disco clubs they played this song and I would get up and dance to this wearing my bell bottom pants and my platform shoes and today 2020 still listen to this and I'm 65 years old
I used to freak out over this song in the early 1980's at Catacombs in Philadelphia. Fast forward to 1998 when Frankie Knuckles was spinning at Groove Jet in South Beach. At the height of the evening when I thought the energy could not get any higher, he mixed in a 20 minute set of this song. The crowd, old/young/gay/straight/black/Latino/white and everything in between went crazy. I get chills just thinking about it now.
damn white boy, you had it going on. I also went crazy at the Disco Circus on 5th Avenue and 15th street in Manhattan when the dj put this song on. i love it when other people can appreciate our music. That club must have been poppin. Just like the Paradise Garage also when they rocked KEEP ON. Man, people would RUN over each other when they heard this song to get their space on the dance floor. ah the memories. You got some "soul" brother in you my brother. My blood pressure always goes up when I hear this song cause my body is ready to move. OMG
Wow....I'm feeling my 64 years lol. I was experiencing this jam in the clubs in the '80s. Brings back great memories and still gets me on my feet to this day!
Watching the grown-ups dance and party to this more than once a night is a testament to how great this song is. As someone said, it expresses dance, party, and fun! One of my all-time favorites to grow up to. This masterful remix just makes it even better!
An old DJ here, a classic floor filler, always remeber climbing down to dance with the punters, and nearly forgetting I was the DJ, great, great times.......still makes me tingle, great mix fella!!!!

I heard a freestyle on the radio live remix of this. The DJ in San Mateo, San Fran, and SACTO could mix, scratch, and rap, to "Mary Had a Little Lamb!" And make it dancable, creative, and sound like a new song. When people threw house parties, they moved their reciever and speakers and tuned to one of the above mentioned stations. I really miss the West Coast music.

I must admit I've been listening to this song my whole life ( as I was born in' 84) And I have NEVER heard that intro. I love it, it gives more weight to the words.
Back in the day, this was jam to listen too. Pure fun when this was played by the D.J. They would crank the "MEGA BASS" to this and we all went to heaven. Classic that I hope will continue to touch "NEWER GENERATIONS" !!
OK, how do I sum up this track. Well, if you only ever wrote one tune and had a hit like this, you'd still be up there with Albert Einstein, Leonardo de Vinci, Nicolas Tesla. Pure genius. This song will never ever get old. An absolute dance floor burner. Genius!
Remember funky rollerskating to this song in its entirety in the 80's..This coming from a Canadian-Asian gent (Buffalo via Toronto ie.United Skates of America rink) 57 yrs young & still have skates ! Thanks to You Tube in keeping the memories fresh !!!
The perfect song for that time for me. When I heard the very first time, and of course I the extended version. I guessing, I must have played it 10 times. My crew back then was like gangsta piece, but dam dog your gonna play out by the end of week. I remember saying like fuc what cha heard, this mix is bananas! I'm 55 years old and to this very day i act a fool when I hear this Funky, Funky, jam! You feel me! I know you do.
AS AN UNDISCOVERED TOP SINGER AND DJ THIS IS CLASS IM APROACHING THE BIG 60 I CAME THROUGH THE 80S I CANT BELIEVE HOW IVE ONLY JUST DISCOVERED THIS YES IM STUCK IN THE PAST BUT THATS WHERE THE TUNES ARE AT THIS IS WHAT IM TALKING BOUT...

Frankie Crocker and WBLS and the sister station WLBS in Detroit where I am from very seriously tore up the radio waves in the late 70s and all of the 80s and they posessed a symbiotic relationship with the music and kept the beat strong during the day and cranked it up at night. Great music from talented people.
asamlang5 if you know the power of that music in my life and the landscape of my future in the Navy and the impact on it you would get it. WE as a people were the driving force in music. Not today. That ship has sailed.
Never knew there was a WLBS if it was affiliated with BLS then the music played was probably a whole lot better than what I heard in Detroit radio when I visited in the mid 80s.
This is CLASSIC WBLS radio station everyday in New York City back in the day!!!! #Frankie Crocker #Roxy Roller rink #Empire Roller rink NYC # Central Park Sunday Skate !!!!!
Central Park (Next to Sheep's Meadow) was the spot for skating and getting nice. Some of those cats are still out there skating. They are in their 60's now.
Another CLASSIC NYC production...after hours at the Paradise Garage, then early afternoon leave there for nearby Washington Square in Greenwich Village for Sunday afternoon parties under a cloud of ganja and unreal surround sound from by multiple boxes tuned to the same WBLS, KISS FM & KTU supermixes. Central Park outdoor skating-search youtube using "central park skaters after party" HOO!
This was a masterpiece. The opening with gospel vocals a Capella. OMG I could listen to everyday. Then you dropped the song and boom out the park from buildup to ending. You my friend are a Grand Master.
This was sooo big in miami back in the 80s that one could practically expect to hear this song (and Egyptian Lover"s "Egypt Egypt") exploding out of Jamaican-style walls of speakers with local DJ crews battling each other with indomitable tweeters and throbbing subwoofers at parks, cookouts, and the legendary Goombay weekend Bahamian festival in the West Grove on Douglas Ave. Thank you Disco🐯
This track brings it back to my NYC Days. Heard it on the radio (WBLS, 98.7 KISS FM, WKTU Disco 92). Bentley's (NYC) used to rock this at Peak Time. The DJ would hit Weeks & Co "Rock The World" and at the break portion would mix "You're The One For Me." It was the Extended Version with the intro similar to the intro at 7:23. I had that version back in the day. However I can't find it now. The crowd would go nuts and the sound system would be cranked upstairs and downstairs. You were looking frantically for someone to dance with. That's where I transitioned from being a breakbeat DJ to Disco, Funk and R&B. Then later to House. Musically, these were the best years in NYC! This track is tight along with your other remixes! I still spin because the art and joy of moving the crowd never gets old. Though I have a couple of versions of this track, this remix has to go in my arsenal. Sorry for the lengthy post, but I had to express myself. THANKS DJ DISCOCATV2
Growing up in the late 70s and early 80s UK… going to school and facing the racism on the streets… these awesome Soulful tunes gave me hope and joy.. and then I grew and Bussem up😂
Wow. this brings back memories. One in particular. I'd bought a brand new 1981 Chrysler LeBaron (the last year they were rear wheel drive. The following year it became the New Yorker Fifth Avenue} I had this song on a cassette and it was the first song played on the $350 optional stereo that I got with the car.
I remember going on a cruise around the Hudson for WBLS' Shayla's Birthday, "D" Train was doing this song. Then Cece Peniston came on. We did so much stompin on the boat, that I thought were going to go down like the Titanic. That was one of the best boat rides I've ever been on. A very grown up affair.
OMG !! NEVER MIND THIS WAS A BOMB SONG, AM I THE ONLY ONE WHO WILL COMMENT ON THE SPECIAL EXTENDED PARTS ESPECIALLY AT THE END??
One of my favorite '80's hits...remixed very well!!! Thank you Disco Cat for this piece of aural heaven!!!!

*D Train - You're The One For Me (1981) Lyrics: October 17, 2021*
*With the love I have inside of me*
*We can live through all eternity*
*And we'll never touch the ground*
*We'll take a chance to ride upon a star*
*To a place that's far away*
*The light of love will shine on us*
*Forever and a day.*
*Busting up on a cloud, shout out loud*
*You're the one for me*
*With your love by my side*
*The world will be mine*
*You're the one for me*
*With this true love I found*
*Picks my feet up off the ground to fly away*
*With this true love my dear*
*Takes away my every fear, don't go away*
*You just don't know what you did to me*
*But I'm not the same (I'm not the same)*
*Since you gave me love*
*That's sheltered from the rain*
*You just don't know how you make me feel*
*Your sweet love girl, is so unreal*
*I've got love, love desire*
*From your lovin' my soul's on fire*
*I'll stand up on a cloud, shout out loud*
*You're the one for me*
*With your love by my side*
*The world will be mine*
*You're the one for me*
*I'm ridin' on a cloud*
*Got to shout it out loud, you're my all*
*Baby, hold on tight*
*For the rest of my life, don't let me fall*
*You just don't know (just don't know) what you did to me*
*But I'm not the same (I'm not the same)*
*Since you gave me love*
*That's sheltered from the rain*
*You just don't know how you make me feel*
*Your sweet love, your sweet love girl, is so unreal*
*I've got love, I've got love, love desire*
*From your love my soul's on fire*
*Busting up on a cloud, shout out loud*
*You're the one for me*
*With your love by my side*
*The world will be mine*
*You're the one for me*
*Busting up on a cloud, shout out loud*
*You're the one for me*
*With your love by my side*
*The world will be mine*
*You're the one for me*
*With the love I have inside of me*
*We can turn this world around*
*We can live through all eternity*
*And we'll never touch the ground*
We'll take a chance to ride upon a star*
*To a place that's far away*
*The light of love will shine on us*
*Forever and a day (x 4)*
*Busting up on a cloud, shout out loud*
*You're the one for me*

JUST BRILLIANT, I AM ONE OF THE CHILDREN OF THE D TRAIN BACK IN THE EARLY 80'S, WHEN MUSIC WAS MUSIC, DETROIT LOVES D TRAIN ALWAYS.
Frankie Crocker and WBLS and the sister station WLBS in Detroit where I am from very seriously tore up the radio waves in the late 70s and all of the 80s and they posessed a symbiotic relationship with the music and kept the beat strong during the day and cranked it up at night. Great music from talented people.
yes that hold a special memory, a heartfelt memory....
asamlang5 if you know the power of that music in my life and the landscape of my future in the Navy and the impact on it you would get it. WE as a people were the driving force in music. Not today. That ship has sailed.
Never knew there was a WLBS if it was affiliated with BLS then the music played was probably a whole lot better than what I heard in Detroit radio when I visited in the mid 80s.
Danny Thomas reminds me of going to Northland skating rink in the 80’s
NYC WAS ROCKING TO THIS❤❤🎉🎉
My brother in heaven this always reminds of you 😇
AMEN 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏👼🏼👼🏼👼🏼👼🏼👼🏼👼🏼🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞
A never special from DJ cat
SIMPLY ONE OF THE GREATEST SONGS EVER..!
This is CLASSIC WBLS radio station everyday in New York City back in the day!!!! #Frankie Crocker #Roxy Roller rink #Empire Roller rink NYC # Central Park Sunday Skate !!!!!
Edward Brown The best looking sound!
Central Park (Next to Sheep's Meadow) was the spot for skating and getting nice. Some of those cats are still out there skating. They are in their 60's now.
+Edward Brown .....Yeeeesssss!......those were the days!
Central Park outdoor skating-search youtube using "central park skaters after party" HOO!
im lovin this old school
This is and always be the best version
This was a masterpiece. The opening with gospel vocals a Capella. OMG I could listen to everyday. Then you dropped the song and boom out the park from buildup to ending. You my friend are a Grand Master.
This was my jam! Such an intersection between disco and the hip hop sound to come. Totally fierce (and totally urban)!
I was up in New York in 1979-80 and I loved WBLS back in the day
This was sooo big in miami back in the 80s that one could practically expect to hear this song (and Egyptian Lover"s "Egypt Egypt") exploding out of Jamaican-style walls of speakers with local DJ crews battling each other with indomitable tweeters and throbbing subwoofers at parks, cookouts, and the legendary Goombay weekend Bahamian festival in the West Grove on Douglas Ave.
Thank you Disco🐯
Badass mix! This would get any party started! Thank you.💖
A great groove for sure, keeps you dancing!!! Stan.
An absolute classic.
You just don't know D train. Oh yea my jam!
Best and number one ever 80s disco
still banging in 2020, great music never dates!
A very grown up affair.
love me some D-train
your right Ralph ! The special extended parts has me bouncing in the kitchen while i fry chicken. Wow !
Such a jamming song, funky, styilish, ..Just wanna dance it!!
Memories of my childhood in the 80s. Again, techno-funk and R&B like this track played over and over on the radio. Long live old school!
COME ON MAN..........THIS WAS / IS / WILL ALWAYS BE THE JAMMMMMMMM
The tune stands the test of time
