Thank you, Ryan, for posting all of these Pearl Jam songs. You have really been helping me learn a lot of songs that I’ve always loved. Thanks again.
Great...now I have to add Present Tense to the list...then take it off again. Sick torture sir.
Also...top 10 songs in their catalog this one. True masterpiece
definitely worked it's way from top 50 to top 25 during the making of this vid for me!
Thanks for this, Ryan! Your previous Drop D version enabled me to play the song as closely as possible. Just fooling around in DADGAD - which I love, I found the same notes you played here. Your content makes me 😁 🎸
At first listen, this one seems pretty straight forward. But there are so many details going on, which makes it such a clever tune. One of my favorites. Good lesson, Sir! 👍
Ryan, you strike again haha! Heard this on The Last Dance and I've been listening to it ever since. Great song, thanks for the lesson!
thank you. thats a great song . i love pearl jam . ill be waiting for the next video.
One of my favs for sure. Great hearing it close out the Jordan documentary. No doubt a decision influenced by Rodman who is a huge PJ fan.
I seen them in 06 here in Cincinnati and they played this , this was he first time I heard it live and wow.... The distortion for the opening riff is phenomenal and makes the record version seem weak now lol just a kiddin .... I love playing this song and watching you play it I think you just wanted to go on and jam out . Great video sir !!! Thank you .
no no, i feel you. I prefer the letterman version to the album version. but I love the album version. Cheers RS!
That was a revalation, I couldn’t play this fast enough! And now I can’t stop playing it! I never heard the tremolo either, until a few weeks ago while learning you’re first version of it. I had always played it with a little phase, similar to Ledbetter. Thank you so much!
put my studio headphones on for this one and heard all kinds of things I never knew were there! crazy...
Ryan - hi there my fella. Your approach to the sort makes one realize that the joint is really a masterpiece sort of thing, in terms of what we've all agreed to call a "contemporary rock music". ALL credits go to you cause you doing a great job. It's a passion thing recognizable in each and every single sec of this vid. MAJOR FANKS!!!!!
@@RyanLendt same at this end. One thing you do should know about your work here and its major advantages is that there's so much tutorial stuff about on utube where you all too often feel that overwhelming presence of someone's ego over a matter the they deal with, to the point where you really can't be bother anymore
Like, with some vids its taking ages before fella even starts the topic, discussing hours some irrelevant issues. Second thing being - they just getting redundantly complicated thinking they making it easier. You get straight to the point which makes video lasting no longer than couple significant minutes where one ends up getting to know how to play the joint perfectly and with a grace you've presented it to them. You know - Some ppl have it - some have it not - you certainly do!!!!
Maybe a good Campfire edition. perhaps the Glen Hansard version? Great work as always
I DIDN'T KNOW THERE WAS A GLEN VERSION! campfire video in 88 minutes, i wonder if mine and Glen's have anything in common...
There is something so inspiring about this song, it takes the soul on a journey... thanks for re mastering this master piece of peace .... ✌️❤️🤘
Mr. Lendt - James Roday is looking for his long lost brother! I think I found him. Thanks for doing this song, it's awesome. - love your lessons.
that's so funny. I used to get that one ALL THE TIME and I was just thinking right about when you left this comment that nobody has said that in like a decade. you win the award for today PB :)
Glad to know Present Tence by Pearl Jam “the real way” 😂 Thank you Ryan!
sometimes I wish I'd have waited on some of these PJ songs I got wrong early on, but I guess it's all part of the process!
Great lesson! Very energetic version which I love! Saw them play this in Boston night 1 2018, been wanting to learn it ever since and this seems like the best version.
Ryan Lendt I believe so! I think I remember almost buying one but didn’t have the money haha
Ryan, I wish I was a centipede so I could give this 100 thumbs up! Awesome job
i real friend would wish he was a millipede ;) no, a REAL friend would wish there was such thing as a googol-pede so he could be one. I crack myself up. i'll settle for dodeca-pede.
Well done! I’m pretty sure that Kashmir by Led Zeppelin is also in DADGAD if you’re looking for more stuff to play with it.
Nelson W: Yep, +1 to that. Kashmir is a great song to learn, & DADGAD is extremely satisfying to fool around with; I call it very "forgiving" tuning for hacks like me! 🤣 🎸
Ummm.. I thought you did this already. I literally learned it yesterday 😂
Wow! I did not know what I didn’t know. Thanks Ryan.
me either! that one took a lot out of me. I was quite literally sore the next day from all the mental consternation.
That “not open in anyway jam section” rocks - I am absolutely loving that! (the first bit is very MFC!)
Interesting to see that you almost have as many bells as Kermies now! 🛎 🐸
some green disease and untitled in there as well. I feel they all came from the same thought strand. I do need to order some more bells to destroy but this routine is working for now :)
Excellent lesson. One of my favorite PJ songs. Lyrically beautiful. ⚾️🌳🌳🌳
thanks Jason :) perfect in every way. love the non sequitur jam to close it out.
Also, that breakdown part towards the end of the song is SUCH an Eddie part. I could pick that out anywhere as his playing.
yep.. all music is credited towards mike though so I wonder whose idea it was to hit Bb as the G rings out...
Loved hearing this in The Last Dance. MJ's Bulls, and PJ. That's what's up. Also put me on a deep dive revisit to No Code.
You'll be pleased to learn that the multiharpist and I just sandwiched Clear between Given to Fly and Present Tense in cuhguhcuhfuhguhcuh-sharp yesterday - and it was one hundred and ten percent the highlight of the whole ordeal. You write great songs, can't wait for the album :)
(Present Tense is one of those songs where when they play it live, the whole world stands still)
i'm very pleased to know this! and what a talented harper to be able to play in that sharp!
That’s awesome, thanks Ryan! Can you do Twisterella from Ride?
I don't know what that is, Mr. Dog. I'll place it on THE LIST for future consideration :)
No worries Ryan. Me very happy you added to the list. When you have a few minutes to spare check them out ua-cam.com/video/ieKPgFgiPj8/v-deo.html they are a very cool underrated guitar band from early naughties / late eighties. The main riff of this song has been in my head for almost 30 years now but I’ve never managed to figure out how to play it right. Take care buddy.
Salzburg Austria 2000 is in open d because mike plays the prettiest improv I think they’ve ever done and doesn’t change guitars. Blew my mind I was like nooo I only know it in drop d haha
yeah i got that very wrong on my first try. I'm comfortable with my mistakes being public!
Dude this was fucking awesome!
Thank you Ryan🤗
Cool, This is why I played it until I saw your first version and assumed I was wrong :)
Ur really good.. I hope u start ur own band one day.. N i gurantee u will sold million of copies👍
thanks man. I have my own band. look up my name on your streaming service of choice :)
Couldn't wait to get back home so I could mess around with this one.
why were you away from home in the first place? You need to get your priorities in order Kow ;)
@@RyanLendt been a long Winter, the snow's finally gone. Have to get everything done that can't be done in frozen ground or under snow within the next 3 months before it returns.
I love you you are a genios thank u man wr sppreciatte Argentina 🇦🇷
I want to get the bass exactly as the album
We are in English grammar online class . Never mind sir I was just kidding
Lmao Radiohead be like time to get copyright claimed bitch lol
5/28/20. Tuning: DADGAD.... I haven’t watched Rick Beato in a long time, months I think, but he’s analyzing Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit” In his “What makes this song great.” Gee, Rick, we know you think it’s great BECAUSE THE SONG WAS VERY POPULAR. Can Rick figure out what’s great before it became popular? Of course not. EDIT UPDATE: I saw Beato’s video. Rick Beato claims that without their mixer, Andy Wallace, the “ Smells Like Teen Spirit” song would never have been a hit. Errrrrrr, OK, Ricky. I gave Ricky a dislike for his stupid mixer comment. Take care, Ryan.
I wholeheartedly agree with your assessment of Rick's claim that nirvana basically would not have happened (since that was their hello world song) in absence of that particular mix guy.
Dude, I got chills when I heard the song in The Lance Dance.
Horacio Garcia: Last Dance brought me here! So much life had passed between the release of this song & 'The Present Day', I'd forgotten it!
Me too!!!
Makes much more (I can't think of anything that rhymes with day) to live.. in the present day
@@RyanLendt Makes much more "schway" (batman beyond reference) to live in the present day.
