When you did the gyro calibration you MUST have it on ABSOLUTE HORIZONTAL PLANE. You basically discalibrate the drone gyroscopes because you hold the drone in hand during gyro calibration. Causing drone tilt and fly forward and left because the drone gyroscope things that this tilt is level
Admittedly, I didn't know that. Regarding the on screen directions for the Gyro, calibration, it only says "To keep the aircraft at a standstill during the calibration process". Comparatively the compass and IMU calibrations have a detailed schematic in real time that walks you through the process. I actually thought the Gyro calibration was for the camera.
Correct gyro calibration is crucial for aircraft. It basically tells to the brain of aircraft where is corret horizontal level and this is crucial information for flight control module. The IMU calibration you did correctly and compass calibration I would recommend to do with extended legs as the motors contains magnets which could interfere compass reading during calibration process if the motors are close to the body of the aircraft ;-) Camera gimbal have own idependent gyro and gimbal gyro calibration is done differently (dont do that if your camera is straight) Hopefully your aircraft have just broken propellers and is fixable. @@honzahanes484 Yeah thanks for the information. One of the aircraft wings is broken clean off and gone so this drone isn't gonna fly again. I really think they should put better on screen directions to guide the Gyro calibration beyond just keeping the drone steady, which I did. Especially since it's such an important step...
Nah, I've done it this way dozens of times. If the calibration isn't perfect, the app displays a message of an abnormal reading. In any event, it doesn't say anywhere in the literature that the wings must be open.
@@contondant Yes, it will read as a successful calibration but it will end up acting wonky here and there, like GPS interference/disconnection errors, toilet bowling and crab walking sideways. I’ve experienced these things myself so just wanted to let you know. I hope Hubsan has responded to your customer service email. They just released a new video on their UA-cam channel regarding using their customer service support via the app. 😄🤦🏻♂️
@@DroneSyndrome Well Damn, you would think it would say so somewhere. I double checked the instruction manual and it doesn't say so anywhere. I'd do it with the arms open sometimes as I don't always do an IMU calibration before takeoff but this time I wanted to dot my Is and knew I was going to do the IMU and the wings have to be closed for the IMU. Cheers.
Maybe, but there's never been any indication from Hubsan to do so in their instructions. The IMU isn't to be done with wings open as shown in the demonstration diagrams and specifically can't be done with wings open for the two angles lying on sides...

Yeah this was ideal condition with zero wind. I've also flown in heavy wind. I expected to lose connection like in the last video and recent weeks, not for the drone to grow a mind of its own and commit suicide.
