Part 1: • Rafer Alston (Skip 2 M...
--------
In the latest clip, Rafer Alston explained how he was introduced to basketball at five years old. He claimed the game came very naturally to him and that coaches told him early on that he could be next player to make it out of Queens. He also talked about one of his coaches working as a referee for tournaments sponsored by major drug dealers in the area. After making a call that someone disagreed with, his coach was fatally punched in the temple. Alston also described how he maintained his dream of playing basketball at the next level and didn't get sidetracked by getting involved in the streets. - Розваги
When i was in college my dad was dying of cancer. He was confined to his couch. Every afternoon I would spend a few hours with him and we would watch And1 and drink Dr. Pepper. Professor was my favorite. Rafer was my father’s favorite. .

Best part about skip is he knew how to switch it up.. street ball legend that had a very respectable career in the nba.. he's like the basketball equivalent of a great underdground rapper who can also make joints for the radio..

@@jaybo797 cmon lol
He was one of the very few who were able to make that transition
What he said at the end was very powerful for young men out there. He said his heros we’re playing basketball on tv, not the kingpins in the street. As corny sounding as a positive role model can sound, that shit can alter the trajectory of your life.
That first AND1 mixtape had me hooked.
Me too. Everyone wanted handles after that. 😆

coaches like this are very special...they pretty much are raising hundreds of kids in their lifetime & encouraging them 2 stay on the right path
Damn he said intramuals. Takes me back.
Side note: Rafer Alston should have remained a starter or had the same minutes to play, when Jameer Nelson returned from injury, during the 2009 NBA Finals. The Orlando Magic were rolling with Rafer Alston throughout the 2009 playoffs.
Exactly put Nelson in and it was over skip had 23 one of them games
That's why they lost cause Nelson pride was in the way he wasn't ready. Fuk Orlando chance of a title
I was just thinking about that. Being from Saint albans the whole neighborhood was mad. We hated Nelson from that point on lol
@@9274bm - I don’t blame Nelson. He was healthy enough to play and wanted to contribute well. After all, he was an All-Star prior to his injury, and the opportunity to play in NBA Finals doesn’t come often. I blame coach for cutting Alston’s time and starting Nelson. Sure, Alston didn’t shoot well for some games, but the team play flowed better with Alston as a starter.

great explanation of the "School of Hard knocks" lol
Alston's talking about thriving in a world of adversity and Vlad immediately takes it back to siblings in a home w/ a single mom and whether he sold crack part-time. Absolutely horrific journalism (if you even want to call it that). Wants no parts of his successes and how he achieved along the way. Just crack, single parent and hustler related questions.
Or maybe it’s good journalism and you just hating. All these questions paint a picture of rafers story. This is only pt2 of the interview and you saying he only asking certain questions lmao. Maybe wait til the whole interview comes out dummy?

Most bball courts are empty now all the kids I know only care about smoking weed, rapping, and video games.
