Just throwing it out there: the biz the Soviet fixer was doing was business with Arasaka. In PL, on of the supply drops has a data shard that is a message from a political prisoner in Poland working as slave labor in a secret Saka weapons factory.
Didn't realize this was a fringe theory when she just comes out and says she's working for China in the game. Guess the operative question is - how much of her activity is related to this? I don't get the sense that sums up her motivations. I think the Cyberpsycho fixation is a personal pursuit and the wetwork is how she helps fund it.
Actually you technically do if you spare Leon Rinder during the gig in Dogtown and send him to her. During his message to V of self reflection it's clear that his cyberpsychotic symptoms have been clearing up, he may not be "cured" per se but he's now on his way to being truly functional again.
@@pedropierre9594 I agree it's not a conclusive ending, but knowing that there's already SOME progress in just a month of research for a case as severe as Rinder is actually monumental news
I think the cyberpsychosis quest is the only quest that holds any/only personal weight with Regina. It seems the corpos aren't interested in curing cyberpsychosis and just "cast them out like dead batteries" as a vet put it. Regina seems to be torn about the position she's in that Max Jones judges her for, she outright says she doesn't like it but learned to live with it. The way she gives the cyberpsychosis quest to V at the start makes it seem like she has a personal stake in solving it, being in some way the media she was before becoming a fixer.
Regina turning fixer from being a reporter is hardly selling out, Max was just disgruntled. Regina's gigs were some of the best, my favorites at least.
Selling out is too harsh a word. I agree that Max is most likely disgruntled. It's not unusual for fixers to dip into some business with corpos and / or governments if the money makes sense. See Rogue for ex. In terms of gigs, both in quantity and quality, Regina is one of the best in the game.
I love your videos! This is fantastic stuff. One minor complaint: it seems the volume from in-game recordings is much louder than your voice. I have to turn up and down the volume throughout the video.
I always thought she worked for the NCPD for some reason, as in issuing jobs on behalf of the police to deal with the excessive violent crime, and that the stuff with the Chinese was just that. Corruption/owing favors.
I don’t think she’s an “asset”. It seems clear she wants to pay off her debt, but I doubt the Chinese will ever let her go. That’s why she’s a bit cranky. And I haven’t seen any evidence between cyberpsycho research and the Chinese.
By working to clear her debt, she's being useful to the Chinese which literally makes her their asset. And yes, I'm speculating in regards to the connection between Reginas Cyberpsycho research and the Chinese. But I don't think it's too far fatched. If you can have an army of chromed up soldiers who can't become Cyberpsychos...I'm sure more countries than China will want in on that action
As another randomy possibility, she could be working with Zetatech on the cyberpsychosis stuff. In the Tower ending, by 2079 Zetatech claims to completely eliminated cyberpsychosis with their latest cyberware. Probably not completely true, but if they have found a way to decrease cyberpsychosis, it could be from data they got from the cyberpsychosis patients.
Great catch!! If true, you could actually be correct. I don't see Regina as someone who'd NOT work with Zetatech if the eddies made sense. She's a fixer after all. And finding a cure to a scary thing like cyberpsychosis only to sell it to a mega corp is very on brand for Cyberpunk

The language is spoken primarily in the Guangdong province, Hong Kong, Macau and ethnic Chinese/Cantonese people abroad who came from that region. It's just weird how agents of a centralized totalitarian government would speak an ethnic language. Its like if Russian agents were speaking Chechen.

That would make alot of sense! I'd assume the clandestine Chinese activities pay a good enough rate for her to have extra cash

God, Regina has the best view in all of NC. It's weird that a guy randomly plummets out of the sky when I walk by her building, though.

What's the significance? I'm not well versed in the difference but is Cantonese Spoken anywhere outside mainland China?

Shanghai Tao and Chinese Government are pretty much the same entity. The other factions of the Chinese are tied to Arasaka and the yakuza.
