GOG steadfastly refuses to make a linux launcher, and they're not as DRM free as they used to be, for example, they let Hitman 3 onto the store before they removed it after backlash, and some games now require GOG galaxy for multiplayer functionality which if you play multiplayer games is not really any more or less "DRM free" than steam is.
@@DoxxBoxx Well, the good news is, you don't have to use linux yourself, that's something for me to worry about. The bad news is, GOG not making a linux client means that people are not playing going to be playing their GOG games that require Galaxy for multiplayer on a steam deck, and also people are being robbed of options to use things they like as a result. However you feel about linux, it's never a good thing to be robbed of options. Options are the whole reason we use things that aren't steam to begin with. funnily enough, when people mention the 30% cut Steam gets from being a Dev as a counterpoint especially when comparing it to like Epic's 12% cut, that argument does not cut it when you realize that the 30% comes with stuff that eases and helps a dev create a community for their product and even help in the process of creating content for said product as the dev; that and 30% percent being industry standard but hey. 12% to get your product in the store... and... _checks notes_ Ah yes, have the ability to monitor reviews for the product. Meanwhile, sure they get 30% but I get access to frameworks and a dedicated modding hub? Oo Discussion Boards, Groups, and Guide Boards too? I can grow a community for my product in just one app rather than have it scattered? I don't have to rely on third party sites and softwares to be able to expand community reach? Oh my god they even have a premade support page for general common problems. Also people forget that Steam doesn't only host games; They can host music, videos, art, and best of all, other Software that are not entirely games. Blender, Vegas Pro, hell the one app a ton of people use, Wallpaper Engine, is on Steam as well.
Also, Epic has literally stated that 12% is not sustainable. You bet your ass that Epic wouldn't be charging only 12% on EGS if they were the dominant PC platform.
Not to mention that steam only charges 30% once your game has hit specific sales numbers, below which theyll charge substantially less while still giving you access to everything steam has to offer. (And while not being much, they dont even charge you anything until you made more money back than the fees for putting your game up have cost you in the first place, but thats only a few hundred anyway.)
And that's not even mentioning the fact that publishing your game on steam substantially increases its chances of being found by people and potentially succeeding. The sheer number of people who use steam is an advantage in of itself for game developers.

Once a quarter they make a massive sale (Winter Sale, Spring Sale, Summer Sale, and Autumn sale). Currantly its the Summer sale so nows a great time to get tons of games for cheap. Here are some good deals: Wolfenstein alt history collection $18 (normally $100), Half-Life complete $7 (normally $60), Doom bundle $40 (normally $130), and Valve complete pack $13 (normally $45).
I still think hearing someone get destroyed by a rare xbox achievement is funny. Just hearing it pass through noise cancellation followed by a scream of pain is quality entertainment.
Not to mention regional prices, one us dollar where I live is $125 bucks which makes buying literally anything on other game stores not worth it because steam lowers their price for countries like where I live
They also know what works and how to get stuff done without any bullshit or weird unnecessary work arounds. For example, Epic lets you rate games now but only randomly because they don't want review bombing, Valve doesn't give a fuck and prioritizes their users' right to review a game whenever they want and if it gets ugly, they have the "irrelevant reviews" feature without taking away reviewing from their users. Also, if a game is being review bombed, new potential buyers should have the right to understand what went wrong if a game did something to get review bombed.

It's so amazing playing games on steam. Unfortunately, when one is unable to even own a pc due to specific circumstances, it limits their web of freedom for all the games available as PC only and so on. ...nowadays though, it seems that the steam deck elevates that. I don't know a lot about the steam deck so, I cannot say much on it. But there must be some kind of support for it to where one does not need a PC to work it or download games onto it. If that is how it works, than at least there is SOME way to play PC games outside of a PC
I HATE how valve recently blocked game owners on other platforms from downloading mods from steam worksop. Now I cant download mods for cities skylines on Epic. Steam is propably going to make mods/workshop paid feature, there isn't download mod button on steam instead it's called "subscribe"
@@jametron6135 but if modder submits his mod to steam worksop then he can't upload it on moddb or nexus becouse his mod belongs to steam. So steam is blocking owners of legitimate game copies from downloading mods if they own it on another platform. That's very monopolistic approach.

Here's my top 37 gripes with Steam and Valve. 1- The one single one-up Epic has on them is the free games every week, that's pretty cool and I could not give a shit about Steam's sales, the games are literally free and I am poor. 2- I hate Steam's customer service. Costed me my decades old, squeaky clean account, all because an Indian man hacked into it, bought some random game's currency and got my account VAC banned. 3- Valve has long-since neglected their online multiplayer experiences it, either leaving it up to fans or lone yet passionate devs to support their games, instead of just hiring a proper team of devs who are avid fans and can guarantee quality updates, maintenance and support of the game. 4- Valve has become a very, very greedy and honestly misguided company. Like it or not, most people can't even afford to invest in VR, let alone just buy a headset. There's not a large amount of worthwhile VR experiences (not counting conversions like playing Smash in VR or something), the market is a niche that Valve, despite having the means to focus on, isn't getting much from. Half-Life Alyx is cool, sure, but like, I hardly believe most people played it on its intended VR mode. As for greediness, do I even have to explain? They fucking made Artifact to cash in on the then card game craze and it flopped like pancakes on my ass. They won't care about a game unless it'll 100% make big bucks. Valve is not a perfect company, far from it. They're like the Disney of videogames, they've made good shit and nowadays they sometimes make good shit too, but they have so many fanboys that people sweep the dirt under the rug. Idk about the Steam Deck, I will never get it, but if you have it and like it, good for ya. I don't hate Valve or Steam, btw, I just have issues.
GOG Is the best shop, Valve does not care about ownership over your personnel files. You only rent a license to ownership with steam, With GOG you buy the files, and they are always there to provide you with free reinstallation of those files. Steam, as of now, restricts people's access to the modded files from the workshops, meaning in order to get the mod files you need to have either "own" the game on steam, find an alternate mod site with the files which does not always exist and lastly talk to the mod developers themselves to get the files. A far cry from "Easy mod distribution."
STEAM FLAWS! 1: You need to have registered the game on steam for access to downloading the mods off the workshop for a particular game. 2. If you get banned from steam for any reason, you will likely no longer be able to play any of your games online. 3. If you die, unless you put it in your will, you cannot share your games without your family members "hacking" into your account to access family share. 4. Steam deliberately does everything it can to be incompatible with GOG and physical copies without codes. 5. The no Necro Rule in the forums is detestably absurd. 6. You only own a license to those games you bought on steam, not the copy of the files. 7. Valve will not let you export your games to GOG through the GOG feature, refer back to 4. 8. You cannot enable a GOG game you bought on steam, refer back to 4. 9. If steam goes down for more than 30 days, it's over you cannot play ANY of the games from steam because you will not have access to your account even in offline mode. 10. You need to have steam running in order to play Steam games.
@@mixartjohnson8968 Ill adress all of your issues 1: That is an anti-piracy measure. Also hosting the mod files aren't free. If someone isnt a paying customer why should they be entitled to valves money. 2: VAC is not required on any game. If you have a VAC ban just play a non VAC game. 3: Family share is a feature. I don't understand what else they could do. 4: Becouse they have their own online service. If a developer uses third-party online software its crossplay compatible. 5: I have no idea what that means. Is that a steam rule or a developer rule? It appears to be a forum rule by a developer. 6: Please clarify this 7: You can add GOG games to Steam for a unified launcher or Steam Deck big picture mode. 8: You wouldn't buy a PS5 game and expect it to work on a Xbox series X. GOG games do not need to work with Steam. 9: If you have a game downloaded than offline mode will allow you to play your games. I have used this when then internet in my area was down. 10: And? Thats like saying you need an OS running to use software. You don't need it to be open on your desktop and it uses very little background resources.
Steam is good because it's made by valve, valve just has some weird perfection magic that made them forget how to count to 3 and made molasses dripping off spoons be even faster than them

@@kittenzrulz2314 Thanks for the tips, dude!!
You are my favourite review UA-camr and u r underrated
I still think hearing someone get destroyed by a rare xbox achievement is funny. Just hearing it pass through noise cancellation followed by a scream of pain is quality entertainment.
I can spend ages just looking around steam, I don't know why but it's fun finding all the little things
Valve doesn't make games anymore, they make Steam, and that's why Steam is so awesome. I still really fucking miss the games though.
Well, they still do games, just infrequently and when they do its usually masterpieces (well except for artifact).

Half-Life: Alyx - Am I a joke to you?
@@ThatNormalBunny That was a fluke, a really awesome one.
@@marcopolo8584 Valve only release things when they can innovate, half life alyx is a master class in vr game design.
Okay Mr, Big Rig Epic Gamer Pc Master race,
Nice thumbnail
Man is going on about how great something is about futures than he ain’t even use
Your thumbnail art is so ducking COOL!
Not to mention regional prices, one us dollar where I live is $125 bucks which makes buying literally anything on other game stores not worth it because steam lowers their price for countries like where I live
O tortured soul, poor foekoe also played iron lung
Steam is supreme for a reason to me, Gmod and TF2 and playing with friends
Also nice thumbnail, very nice
people are gonna start drawing r34 of king steam
thanks foekoe
i was using the outro song in a video im making lol
They also know what works and how to get stuff done without any bullshit or weird unnecessary work arounds. For example, Epic lets you rate games now but only randomly because they don't want review bombing, Valve doesn't give a fuck and prioritizes their users' right to review a game whenever they want and if it gets ugly, they have the "irrelevant reviews" feature without taking away reviewing from their users. Also, if a game is being review bombed, new potential buyers should have the right to understand what went wrong if a game did something to get review bombed.
Tbh most of the competition aren't really game stores, just game launchers for their products.
The hard cut from Amid Evil to Last of Us 2 nearly broke my neck from whiplash. Warn us next time!
2:40 Will You Snail video when 👀
When i first brought a game in steam, it was great.
* i dont have to redownload my games after a day (i am using a usb disk for my games)
* it doesnt kick you from your account every few months automaticly
Final review: 10/10!!!!!
no comment about the video i just love the outro song lovely city great job
...Did you have Pajama Sam in your Steam library?
Thumbnail goes hard
God bless Workshop, as someone whole loves playing with mods & resource packs, I can't be more thankful to Steam for that.
Im happy that you didn't said gog sucks
The end had me lmfao
I had to use origin yesterday to play battlefield 4 on steam and it was the most painful shit ever.
3:06 I love rayman too!!!
Damn dude Helltaker is in ur library and you haven't made a vid about it!?
3:56 damn that one hits way too close to home
*looks at valhiem*
I HATE how valve recently blocked game owners on other platforms from downloading mods from steam worksop. Now I cant download mods for cities skylines on Epic. Steam is propably going to make mods/workshop paid feature, there isn't download mod button on steam instead it's called "subscribe"
the point of workshop is that it’s on steam. If there’s a epic games workshop it’s not going to work on steam
@@jametron6135 but if modder submits his mod to steam worksop then he can't upload it on moddb or nexus becouse his mod belongs to steam. So steam is blocking owners of legitimate game copies from downloading mods if they own it on another platform. That's very monopolistic approach.
@@krystiandzik9886 well, they signed the contract
@@krystiandzik9886 - That maybe in the contract but I can guarantee Valve don't give a flying fuck. If someone makes a mod and uploads it to Steam Workshop they can also post it on other platforms

Also steam just looks the best. All the other game launchers look like what corporate elevator music sounds like.
what is the game in the start?
Neon White
@@mixartjohnson8968 Ill adress all of your issues
1: That is an anti-piracy measure.
6: Please clarify this
7: You can add GOG games to Steam for a unified launcher or Steam Deck big picture mode.
Steam isn't a launcher, its a store.
Through the library you launch your games.
Its both. A launcher to launch the games you own and a store to buy new ones when you're bored playing Left 4 Dead 2 for the 18th million time
Steam is good because it's made by valve, valve just has some weird perfection magic that made them forget how to count to 3 and made molasses dripping off spoons be even faster than them
I enjoy mods. Because it helps people and makes the procedure simple, I appreciate Steam. Without it, even with the tutorials' assistance, I'd probably catch a computer virus or render the game I want to play with the mod unplayable due to my ignorance of how to download mods.
Live your Art keep up the good work
