Not a Phillies fan, but I do enjoy them from afar. This is one of my favorite individual teams/championship documentaries ever. I love that they got the legend, John Facenda, to narrate it and that they basically produced it like NFL Films, music included 😁
I never realized how Rose was built like a tank. Rose had some of his best years after 38 yrs old. At 37 he had the hitting streak record in 1979 he batted over 330. And in 1980 led the Phils to title. Hard to beleive hes not in the HOF
Thank you for the video! I am so thankful to be 12 years old and share this with my Dad who taught me the game of baseball. Say what you want about the vet but it was on that horrible turf that finally championship champagne was spilled on! Go Phils!
My God Pete Rose was just on another level. 39 years old and not only hag 185 hits but leads the league in doubles then in the strike shortened season of 1981 he leads the league in hits(140) he hits .325. At 40 years old.
1) NFL Films doing the film made it the best baseball film ever. 2) It was a bunch of Phillies fans doing the film. A labor of love. And it shows. They went all out.
I was 17 this AWESOME YEAR !! Nicky D. east bay ! Back2Back NL East World Champs ! { 79' Pirates }....it was a fantastic time to be young in the USA !!
This brings back so many memories. Funny thing, winning the World Series was so anti-climactic because the NLCS was so heart wrenching. But this team should have won so much more. The '76-'83 Phils were arguably the best team in baseball over that time period but the strike in '81 killed any momentum and the '76-'78 teams just couldn't find their bats in the playoffs. The '83 Phillies should have bounced the Orioles but they couldn't hit in that series(Schmidt went something like 1-20).
The Phils haven't won the World Series very often but when they do it is something special unlike any other teams win. Love them or hate , this team had heart and never gave up.
What makes the phillies world series wins special unlike other teams as you describe? Or are you just being a bias phillies fan? cause I'm sure every world series is especial.
23:53 - 24:11 is my favorite part of this video! All the commotion in the background of Andy Musser's play-by-play call combined with the music makes it epic!
6:30-I was at this game with my dad and my brothers. It was Father's Day and hat day(if you couldn't tell) for all men 15 and over. Phils beat the Padres who had Rick Wise pitching.
Because NFL films music and the voice of John Facenda were used for the 1980 Phillies season highlights film....their film might be the best one ever created for a MLB team!!
Does Tel Ra Productions ever plan to release the 1977 Phillies Full Season Highlights on dvd or blu ray? As a Phillies fan, I understand why it may not have been released. It was a heart breaking season for Philly. But I remember watching it as a kid and it was amazing!
I have a baseball from 1970 with autographs all over and it's from the players in philadelphia phillies. bake mcbride, steve carlton, larry bowa, bob boone and many more has signed it. my question is how much is this ball worth?
From 1970 with players who weren't on the team? McBride wasn't in the league yet, Carlton was still in St. Louis, and Bowa and Boone were still in the minors. Are you sure it wasn't the late 70's?
He & Harry Kalas are the greatest narrators at NFL films ever now that John Facenda is canton bound Harry Kalas also should be in the Pro Football hall of fame
anyone notice 2 things wrong with this?...Kalas wasn't allowed to call the Series in 1980...(no hometown announcer was...that was the rule that got changed BECAUSE of Kalas)....and that was NOT the last pitch....Tug spun his harm up on the last pitch of the game. Poor editing but great memories anyways
slightly misleading as the impression is given that the Phils dominated the whole season. Not true . They struggled mid season and were just a few games over .500 in August.
The 1980 Philadelphia Phillies are the best
Wish I could go back to 1980
This is incredible footage and production.
I've never understood why MLB can't have something more like NFL Films.
MLB had a chance and they turned it down.
Wow Im 43 years old. and I love the Phillie Phanatic like a kid still today.
Andy Musser was underrated. Those calls in the NLCS are terrific.
6:40 I was at that game. Hat day vs the Padres. Dave Winfield was still playing for them.
Not a Phillies fan, but I do enjoy them from afar. This is one of my favorite individual teams/championship documentaries ever. I love that they got the legend, John Facenda, to narrate it and that they basically produced it like NFL Films, music included 😁

NFL films music back then absolutely awesome!
Epic production fit for Philly and our fans
Pete Rose is the man you could thank
1) NFL Films doing the film made it the best baseball film ever.
2) It was a bunch of Phillies fans doing the film. A labor of love. And it shows. They went all out.
Philadelphia Broadcast Legend John Facenda narrates. He was the original voice of NFL films.
Phillies need to go back to the 1980s unis
@21:35 perfect throw !! THAT series was one for the books 4 sure !! I watched it all ...classic ! @23:20 LOOK at Rose !! He was such a BEAST !!
John Facenda could voice over any type of event!
I was 17 this AWESOME YEAR !! Nicky D. east bay ! Back2Back NL East World Champs ! { 79' Pirates }....it was a fantastic time to be young in the USA !!

My favorite Phillies team of all time; the 1993 team comes close.
The cutoff play of McBride to Trillo to Boone in the Astros series is absolute baseball execution perfection
R.I.P. Tug McGraw, R.I.P. Harry K and R.I.P. Dallas Green.
You Forgot Whitey too.
John Vukovich.
You forgot Andy Musser.
The Phils haven't won the World Series very often but when they do it is something special unlike any other teams win. Love them or hate , this team had heart and never gave up.

@@josecarranza7555 I guess because of all the disappointment over the 100-year history, most flagrant being the 1964 collapse.
No riots no fires no looting. No kneeling. Who remembers Frank Rizzo?
23:53 - 24:11 is my favorite part of this video! All the commotion in the background of Andy Musser's play-by-play call combined with the music makes it epic!
Check out the portion on Pete Rose (07:44 - 08:50). Wow! The man could play, and get his team going, too.
R.I.P. Tug McGraw
Trio’s relay throw to get the guy at the plate in the league championship series was sick.
6:30-I was at this game with my dad and my brothers. It was Father's Day and hat day(if you couldn't tell) for all men 15 and over. Phils beat the Padres who had Rick Wise pitching.
Best Phillies Team Ever ⚾️
I wanted to hear Tug McGraw say "New York can take this championship and STICK IT!"
Over a million people at the parade. No riots, no arrests, no gunfire.
RIP MANAGER DALLAS GREEN!
Pitching coach Herm Starrette and first base coach Ruben Amaro, Sr. have also passed away in recent months
Because NFL films music and the voice of John Facenda were used for the 1980 Phillies season highlights film....their film might be the best one ever created for a MLB team!!
letter perfect, truly one of Facenda's most inspired performances.
It takes NFL Films to make a great MLB highlight film.
16:00-16:50 Shout out to the late, great Paul Richardson the Phillies organist and wizard behind the keyboards.
Dan Baker looked so young that year in '80
The one down rating HAS to be a KC fan.
Clean landing by Kiteman at 3:18. Believe it was the first time he didn't crash after takeoff
21:35 Manny Trillo unbelievable out at home plate, perfect throw
Facenda and Kalas...two Philly institutions.
You should post the old 70's Phillies highlight films!
some of those were actually produced by NFL Films. There's one from 1974 on UA-cam that has an Ed Sabol production credit.
Funny....Pete Rose knocking over the SF Giants current manager, Bruce Bochy, at 23:25!
Does Tel Ra Productions ever plan to release the 1977 Phillies Full Season Highlights on dvd or blu ray? As a Phillies fan, I understand why it may not have been released. It was a heart breaking season for Philly. But I remember watching it as a kid and it was amazing!
1980 Houston Astros had a good record in the Astrodome, 55-24 record in the Astrodome
Make no mistake only John Facenda could make getting called for jury duty exciting
Please help! What is the music at 3:40. Its on all sorts of highlight packages. Title, composer, artist anything please. So want it for my ringtone
UA-cam look up .... Craig Palmer - Energy This song was used in NFL films highlights during the 1970s and 1980s!
ccjjpp1966 you are the man!!!! Thank you so much. I got it now
Does anyone know the music that follows it? 6:15
I have a baseball from 1970 with autographs all over and it's from the players in philadelphia phillies. bake mcbride, steve carlton, larry bowa, bob boone and many more has signed it. my question is how much is this ball worth?

Does anyone have the name of the song played from approx 3:30 to 6:17? Thanks.
Craig Palmer “Energy”
Narrated by John Facenda.
He & Harry Kalas are the greatest narrators at NFL films ever now that John Facenda is canton bound Harry Kalas also should be in the Pro Football hall of fame
HAVE 1979 HIGHLIGHTS
Lol, Nfl films does a better job at getting you excited for baseball than mlb does.
anyone notice 2 things wrong with this?...Kalas wasn't allowed to call the Series in 1980...(no hometown announcer was...that was the rule that got changed BECAUSE of Kalas)....and that was NOT the last pitch....Tug spun his harm up on the last pitch of the game. All the times I've seen this, I hadn't really noticed McGraw's reaction. You are right, it was the final out from Game 1, not Game 6 that is shown
The calls from Harry were taken from the album.. They were recreated for the record the team released..
15:14
slightly misleading as the impression is given that the Phils dominated the whole season. Not true . They struggled mid season and were just a few games over .500 in August.
Please.....I didn't get that impression.
The arrested The Phanatic.... bastards lol I don't remember this team I was 7 in Reading Pa.
