Arrived 30 years ago here from central Europe and I still have a very strong accent - despite my best efforts - when I speak English. Therefore, occasionally some people ask me 'what's your nationality'. They are doing it out of consideration for my background, I guess, but I always answer back 'I'm Australian, what's your nationality?'. This usually gives a pause in the conversation and then the person answers ' I'm Australian, of course'. And I think this reflects how we all are; we try to be considerate but realize our own sense of belonging only through stating there is no disagreement regarding that we are all Australians. I consider the indigenous people of this land, the convicts and pioneers to be my ancestors too, not just ancestors to those who were born here. Yes, we still have some serious problems to deal with but we are one! We are one spirit one people one with one-another no matter where we came from.
We anglo aussies ask people of other heritages "where are you from" so we can learn from somebody else who has lived a different culture. We love learning about their history, food etc. When we take these comments personally then we fail to grow as people and as a nation which is essentially made up of different cultures. Yes we are all Australians but we have all come from somewhere else. I'm proud of my Aussie anglo culture because it is part of my heritage.
@@marhar1172 Indeed. I doubt anyone takes a question like 'what's your nationality' personally. Interestingly, I noticed that even those migrants who hold onto their original cultural background with all their might end up being Polish or English or Syrian in a peculiarly Aussie way. @Documentary Partners False. The earliest Homo sapiens that we have record of existed in Africa over 2 million years ago. The Great Flood is an allegory, not a factual historical account.
@Documentary Partners First of all there is absolutely no conclusive (geological) evidence of the Great Deluge ever occurring. I’ve spent half my life studying the subject. Secondly, I successfully summited Ararat in 2007 after a failed attempt in the spring of 1996. As for the “ark” it’s not a vessel at all. Just a natural geological formation (Ararat is a volcano). Furthermore the dating of the “pieces of the ark” aka random pieces of wood don’t even come close to matching the correct time period of the supposed flood. Your evidence does not exist. You’d get more out of the Bible if you stop taking it literally. That last statement is just an opinion. The rest are facts.
@@DoctorSess can't remember where I read it, but there had been a C-14 dating on some straw from Pompeï. It got dated to around 10.000 years ago. Somehow I fail to be impressed when we extrapolate based on stuff we have been observing for 100 years. Basic point still stands: if Homo Erectus mutated into Homo Sapiens, there was one who was the first mutated enough to be named thus. Apart from the tiny patch of land that first one lived, everything else was stolen from other species of cavemen: Neanderthals, Florens, and all others. So whenever you choose to believe and whenever you want to mock, the basic point still stands: all lands are stolen.

That’s a good point. I was just thinking that politicians need to be about more than 1 issue to be effective. She is not representing the needs of Aboriginal people because she is Aboriginal. She can give voice to concerns, give input on Committees with a view to worthwhile change, but she is there to be a show pony while Aboriginal people in the towns and communities deal with issues on the ground.

Goodonya mate!
Well said
We anglo aussies ask people of other heritages "where are you from" so we can learn from somebody else who has lived a different culture.
I just can't put my finger on it what it is that makes all of us Aussie, but its definitely tangible. No, it's not Vegemite or watching footy religiously, its something else. It's just a way we are. :)
Good on you for speaking English in your adoptive English speaking country. Today I did a bit of a shopping run around and every second person was speaking some other gibberish. When we arrived in Australia in 1956 we were EXPECTED TO LEARN ENGLISH, so we did.

Okay, so is most of the world. What do you want to be done about it?
no such things as stolen land. by that rationale non of us belongs anywhere. homosapiens spread everywhere from a central point
@Documentary Partners :7877;;:"0:\
